I was lucky enough not to see the 0-6 that Barça got three years ago in Vicente Calderon, so probably the game on Saturday was the biggest humiliation that I’ve attended as an Atletico fan. I can still believe that the team let some of the goals. Not just the third goal, scored by Messi because when Coupet was ordering the wall, as the Argentinean hadn’t requested the wall. Some of the other goals were as embarrassing as the third one. Seeing Eto’o receiving the ball just outside the penalty area with no one from Atletico within 10 meters was even worse.

Anyone can say that it’s just three points, but I personally think that a defeat like this isn’t just three points, as it’s more painful and damages the moral of the fans and, if they’re a bit professional, of the squad.

Three years ago, the 0-6 defeat against FC Barcelona was the trigger for Fernando Torres to move out of Atletico. Let’s see if what we suffered the other day won’t have the same effect in Agüero.

In 20 minuti Barça e Atletico danno agli spettatori del Camp Nou ben 6 gol da gustare. Al 18' infatti il punteggio è già sul 5 a 1 per i padroni di casa. Padroni assoluti anche del campo e, per la seconda volta dall'inizio della Liga, implacabili davanti alla porta.

Vanno a segno Marquez al 3', Eto'o su rigore al 5', Messi all'8'. Poi Maxi Rodriguez pensa di riaprire la partita al 13' minuto, ma le speranze dell'Atletico si spengono subito con il secondo gol di Eto'o al 17' seguito dal quinto gol del Barça ad opera di Gudjohnsen un minuto più tardi che ribadisce in rete un tiro di Iniesta ribattuto dalla porta dell'Atletico.

5 a 1 dopo i primi 20 minuti ed il punteggio rimane così invariato fino al 73' dove anche Henry trova gloria e gol dopo aver rilevato al 60' un grandissimo Eto'o. 6 a 1 finale e una bella cartolina del Camp Nou da spedire a Madrid come avvertimento al Real...

Si usted es un amante del fútbol y ayer no vio la primera mitad del partido que enfrentó al Barcelona y el Atlético Madrid, lo más seguro es que hoy se esté arrepintiendo. Todos sabíamos de sobra que estos partidos suelen ser un espectáculo, ¿pero tanto? A los diez minutos el marcador ya reflejaba un 3-0 y los madrileños no sabían ni por donde les soplaba el aire. Para la primera media hora iban 5-1 y los del Manzanares querían abrir los ojos para comprobar que aquello no era más que un simple mal sueño.

Antes del encuentro los de Guardiola llegaban de resolver sus tres últimos partidos (Betis, Espanyol y Shaktar) en los minutos finales y los de Aguirre habían olvidado sus problemas defensivos del año pasado mostrando, a pesar de haber expuesto una imagen un poco irregular. Después del choque todo era diferente, el ‘Noi de Santpedor’ fue elevado al olimpo culé y el ‘Vasco’ arrojado a las catacumbas.

El partido sólo tuvo dos colores: los blaugranas. Minuto tres, Rafa Márquez remata un córner que entra al fondo de las redes gracias a que nadie cubría los palos. Ujfalusi ‘meta la pata’ y comete penalti sobre Messi que transforma en gol Eto’o, era el minuto cinco. El sexto, ya en la segunda mitad, fue la culminación de una genial triangulación entre Henry, Xavi y Bojan.

Los titulares de los periódicos habían sido monopolizados durante toda la semana por el duelo entre Lionel Messi y Sergio Agüero. Ayer sobre la lona del Camp Nou 'la Pulga' noqueó al Kun sin que este llegase a proyectar ningún golpe. El blaugrana se reivindicó anoche como el digno sucesor del ’10’. No fue la noche del ‘Romario argentino’, que fue retirado del campo antes de la primera hora de juego pensando en próximas batallas. Tonight’s game between Atletico de Madrid and FC Barcelona is understood by many like a showdown between Sergio Agüero and Lionel Messi, the two most in-form strikers of La Liga.

Only three days after both Argentineans led their teams to respective Champions League triumphs, Agüero takes Atletico to face Messi and FC Barcelona at the Camp Nou stadium (10 pm).

Agüero scored a top class goal on Wednesday in the 2-1 win against Marseille to keep Atletico's dreamt start in the Champions League. Messi came on in the second half and scored both goals - including the injury-time winner - in Barcelona's 2-1 win at Shakhtar Donetsk.

Aguirre has warned already that Agüero can’t fully performed as he’s carrying and ankle knock and he hasn’t been given any rest in the first games of the season.

"I'm tired," the 20-year-old Aguero told reporters after the victory over Marseille. "And it's a difficult game. But it's Barcelona."

From his part, Messi was rested ahead of the Shakhtar match due to fatigue, with both players not having had much of a break since leading Argentina to gold at the Olympics.

Esta segunda jornada no ha traído grandes sorpresas. Comenzando por lo que fue el primer partido de ayer martes, el Real Madrid superó en San Petersburgo al Zenit por dos goles a uno. Un resultado algo engañoso tras lo visto en el césped, especialmente en la última media hora cuando los rusos encerraron a los blancos. Arshavin demostró como volver loca a una defensa utilizando sólo la cintura. En el otro partido del grupo el BATE sorprendió al empatar con la Juventus, un gran resultado a pesar de que se adelantaron con un 2-0 en el marcador. Mal los turineses ante un rival a priori sencillo y del que salieron vivos gracias a dos goles de Iaquinta (2-2).

El Villarreal consiguió una victoria ante el Celtic más sufrida de lo que se preveía inicialmente (1-0). Los escoceses vendieron cara su derrota cambiando su mala imagen en los partidos europeos que disputan fuera de casa. Aún así, el gol de Senna hizo justicia a los méritos de los castellonenses. El Manchester United cumplió los pronósticos al vencer con tranquilidad por cero goles a tres al Aalborg danés. Fueron tres como pudieron ser seis si los de Ferguson hubiesen apretado el acelerador. A destacar los dos goles de Berbatov y sobretodo la lesión de Scholes que le mantendrá dos meses de baja. Se queda escaso de hombres el centro del campo mancuniano.

En el grupo F dos empates. En Italia Fiorentina y Steaua no movieron el marcador (0-0). Los de Florencia no acaban de recuperar el nivel que les llevó a la Champions el año pasado y el juego que desplegaron ayer lo demostró. Jürgen Klinsmann debió temer por su puesto durante la media hora en la que el Olympique de Lyon marchó por delante en el marcador, pero un gol de Zé Roberto (1-1) le da un poco de aire al técnico aleman y tranquilidad en Europa a los muniqueses.

El Oporto salió con las ideas claras y muy buenas maneras para enfrentarse al Arsenal en Londres. El problema llegó cuando tras el primer gol local descuidaron sus líneas y dejaron muchos espacios que Fábregas y compañía no desaprovecharon (4-0). Hasta el primer gol, un buen partido, a partir de ese tanto no hubo historia. En el segundo partido del grupo G empate a nada (0-0) entre Fenerbahce y Dinamo de Kiev. Muy mal resultado para un conjunto turco que no levanta cabeza. Los ucranianos no deberían crear demasiados problemas fuera de casa. Las pitadas al descanso y al final del partido muestran el malestar de la afición turca con los de Luis Aragonés.

En los encuentros del miércoles hay que destacar la épica remontada en el último minuto del Barça en Ucrania (1-2). Mucho debe arreglar Guardiola en la defensa blaugrana si quiere aspirar a algo en esta Champions League, demasiados errores para una retaguardia que se presupone es de mi primer nivel. En la zona de ataque, Messi es Messi y sin él a los catalanes les ha costado llegar con peligro. Bojan ha demostrado que merece más minutos que los 18 que le ha dado Pep Guardiola, más aún viendo las prestaciones de Eto'o y Henry en el día de hoy. El arreón final de juego y sobretodo ganas por ganar, lo mejor de los culés. Entre Sporting y Basilea aburrimiento y resultado previsible (2-0 lisboeta).

El Atlético ha cumplido en su duelo ante el Olympique de Marsella (2-1). Los franceses no han mostrado todo su arsenal ofensivo como si hicieron la pasada jornada con el Liverpool. Los madrileños sin hacer un gran partido han conseguido la victoria sin demasiado sufrimiento. El gol del Kun Agüero una delicatessen para la vista, algo que ya empieza a ser costumbre. El empate de Niang no se queda atrás con una gran jugada y un espléndido remate de cabeza del senegalés. En Anfield no hubo mucha historia con un buen Liverpool que ganó muy fácil a un PSV (3-1) que está dejando mucho que desear en su andadura europea.

En gran partido del grupo B, Inter y Werder Bremen empataban a uno en Italia. Mal resultado para los nerazzurri que podrían haber logrado la victoria de segiur apretando tras el gol de Maicon. Pero no lo hicieron y los alemanes empataron en una segunda mitad que fue suya y donde al final pudieron llevarse la victoria. Extraña alineación de Mourinho con tres delanteros de inicio (Balotelli, Adriano e Ibrahimovic), pero más extraño es la costumbre que tiene el Inter de dejarse ir tras adelantarse en el marcador. Tienen equipo y entrenador para más. En Chipre el Anorthosis ganaba al Panathinaikos de Ten Cate (3-1) y sorprende colocándose segundo en la clasificación con cuatro puntos. El holandés Leiwakabessy dará gracias a sus compañeros tras regalar el gol a los griegos en una jugada completamente absurda, con una mano descarada dentro del área, pareciendo más un alevín que un profesional.

Por último nos queda el grupo más igualado hasta el momento, el A. El Chelsea lidera el grupo tras empatar hoy con el Cluj rumano (0-0) que es segundo sorprendentemente. Partido aburrido que de caer la victoria para algún lado, debió ser del rumano. Poco ofrecieron los londinenses que pudieron (pero no debieron) acusar las bajas de jugadores como Deco, Joe Cole o Carvalho. Los rumanos demostraron que no han venido a dar una vuelta por la competición y que tras su victoria en Roma pelearán por conseguir el pase a cuartos. En Burdeos la Roma ganó al Girondins (1-3) en un partido engañoso. No merecieron tanto castigo los de Laurent Blanc, que ganaban y dominaban a un conjunto romano demasiado temeroso y que seguía dando las malas sensaciones de este inicio de temporada. Pero apareció Undiano Mallenco y se inventó una expulsión para los franceses que poco más podían hacer que aguantar el resultado. El primer gol romano hizo crecer a los de Spalletti, pero hay que destacar los dos goles de Baptista, especialmente el conseguido en una falta al borde del área.

It seems that Atletico are not coming in their best moment after losing to Sevilla 1-0 and after injuries and fatigue caught up with Aguirre's team. Now Atletico are facing their toughest month in October, including league games against FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.

"We have to go out with the same attitude that we had before playing PSV Eindhoven, which is to go out and play football," Aguirre said. "We're at home and that's something to take into account."

Aguirre will be able to count with Heitinga, but fellow defenders Seitaridis and Pablo Ibañez are out after picking up knocks against Sevilla, while midfielder Maniche hasn’t recovered from the back injury that he picked in Getafe.

Striker Diego Forlan and forward Simao Sabrosa are missing due to injury, and their absence has deprived Aguero of adequate rest after a lengthy summer.

Aguirre conceded that he may have to field an untested team, but The ‘Vasco’ hopes the circumstances will serve to motivate his team.

"It's true we have various players out to injury and (Ever) Banega left the Sevilla match with an ankle injury, but this is a Champions League game and that cures everything. The players are very motivated," Aguirre said.

From their part, Marseille must get a result or risk damaging its chances of getting out of the group.

"We're obliged to get a result and we're going for that since we started the competition badly," Niang said. "We have to catch up, whether it be at Madrid, PSV or Liverpool. We know it won't be easy because Atletico Madrid is a team in form at the moment."
