Why do I feel guilty posting this pic. Is it because she is underage? no she is 21 years old. I feel guilty because when I think about gymnastics I think about 15 year olds somersaulting, tumbling and flying through the air on their way to an Olympic medal. So when I find a gymnast that looks very young but is actually only a few years older then the last girl that I banged, I cant help but feel a little guilty. Alicia is actually decent looking and years of lifting her own body weight has transformed her body into a fine piece of machinery. I decided to post this because of my admiration for the work that she has done her entire life to reach the top of her "sport", and not because I want to put a hurting on that ass.

I apologize to Karl for living in the past, but what the fuck happened? I was a little kid during the Jackie years, but the influence was there (be educated, be classy, be chic, try to learn French and be thin). And when I was coming of age in the seventies the Jackie image evolved into this image of future womanhood--the Charlie Girl!

I thought I would be Charlie when I grew up and I still cling to the image of the free woman driving her own vintage auto, taking large strides in her white satin pant suit! Why the hell not! I bet Hillary Clinton wore Charlie at some point in her youth. In all honesty, I never liked the smell, but I loved and wore BABE And maybe I was a little into the guy with the tux and the innertube, I admit it. I wanted to be the Fabulous Babe and a Charlie Girl! It seemed like a great future awaited me--the free woman!

But something happened. I remember sometime during the late 80's I was living the New York City life, which basically meant wearing a tight skirt and a silk blouse and pumps and working as a secretary by day and then changing into a pair of slacks and dashing downtown to do avant-garde theater by night--damn it if I wasn't Charlie and Babe during those years--I remember passing a bus stop ad of a magazine called "The New Traditionalist". On the cover was a compelling image of a beautiful and chic woman standing behind her equally beautiful daughter. The woman in the image seems to really have it all together, and her eyes spoke of a hidden mystery that I seemed to missing out on, yet which as a feminist I rejected. I mean, here I was, pushing thirty, college educated but exiled to the pink ghetto typing letters for men with whom I once shared a sandbox, getting nowhere with my arts career, my hormones were telling me that the clock was ticking on my reproductive years. I remember how it unnerved me. Maybe Charlie and Babe was a bunch of bullshit and I should try being Mrs. Brady for awhile.

Well, I did end up getting married in a panic on the eve of my 30th birthday but I (happily) never did become the domestic goddess. I say happily because if I have to live out a fantasy I still choose Charlie/Babe and my guy likes me this way (although I've yet to get him into that tuxedo/innertube). Ms. Palin (sorry to insult you, Mrs. Palin) is of my generation, but I can't relate. Maybe if I had thrown my fantasy of Charlie/Babe away and had fully embraced The New Traditionalist and had a couple of kids I would feel differently. But escaping from all that shit is what the dream was all about. Maybe we can't fight nature, but do we have to surrender to it?

Damn Charlie! You sure are looking good!

John McCain (1998 Senate Republican Fundraiser):

Chelsea was 18 at the time. And yes, there were women present. If someone told a joke like that about my daughter, I would have decked him.

Earlier this year, McCain responded to a question with the line:

"And I stopped beating my wife just a couple of weeks ago."

This was his "humorous" reference to the old classic example of a leading question.

And of course everyone knows he called his Cindy a "trollop" and "c*nt" in front of a small group of reporters. And yes, there was a woman present....his wife.

Can't wait to see McCain slap Palin on the ass and call her a "babe" (like Limbaugh did). She'll be lucky if she gets off that lightly.

Babe, Terror is the alter-ego of a 28 year old guy called Claudio who lives in São Paulo, Brazil. His self-titled five track EP is a miasma of weirdness, with blunted loops, muffled vocals, gritty crackle and general wonkiness giving the whole package a slightly queasy, narcotic air. The nine minute “My Olympic Films 1980” has echoes of Faust and Animal Collective as it blunders along; spluttering, but gradually getting under the skin.

“Nasa Goodbye” is pop, albeit pop mugged and chloroformed. The harmonies sound like the Beach Boys drowning, and everything fades into a staccato flangeing. It is utterly bonkers, but at the same time alluring. After a few listens, it really sinks in and leaves a hook in the head – just like a proper pop song. I really like this EP. Like Volcano the Bear, it seems like music from a parallel world where things like pitch and tempo are fluid rather than rigid, and yet at its heart, it's as pop as Abba.

The Babe, Terror EP is released on September 5th – a limited run of 300 CDs and, of course, downloads too.
