Si concretizza sempre di più la possibilità che Apple possa adottare il nuovo chipset grafico Nvidia MPC79 nei nuovi MacBook e MacBook Pro (che verranno presentati stasera, durante l'evento “The spotlight turns to notebooks”).

L'abbandono del chipset GMA di Intel a favore dell'MPC79, incrementerebbe le prestazioni dei nuovi notebook, con annessi minori costi di produzione e un maggiore risparmio energetico, indi per cui maggior durata della batteria.

Ecco i punti di forza del nuovo chipset Nvidia:

• Minore ingombro, poiché si utilizzerebbe un solo chip (e non due)
• DriveCache, userebbe una memoria Flash per incrementare le prestazioni di boot
• Hybrid SLI una tecnologia che abbinata ad una scheda grafica tradizionale permetterebbe lo switch tra le due, consentendo maggiore potenza di elaborazione e minor consumo della batteria: se si ha bisogno di poca potenza, passerebbe al chipset MCP79 e viceversa.

Caratteristiche :

• Front side bus (FSB) da 1066 MHz (compatibile con i Penryn di Intel),
• Supporto memorie DDR3 da 1333 MHz
• Interfaccia TMDS per HDMI 1.2, Gigabit Ethernet, audio HD, Trusted Plastform Module 1.2 e Drive Cache
• Compatibilità con le Directx 10
• Utilizzo del sistema Hybrid e GeForce Boost

C'è chi accredita già come certa l'adozione dei nuovi chip Nvidia sui prossimi MacBook, non ci resta che attendere ;)

But on Tuesday morning, Daring Fireball's John Gruber -- a blogger with particularly good sources in Cupertino -- cut through the fog and offered some clarity.

According to Gruber's remarkably detailed report:

• The photo here of a MacBook Pro, which surfaced Monday night at Engadget, is the real deal. It shows a black keyboard encased in a single-piece, latch-free aluminum frame.
• There is no $800 or $899 MacBook, as widely rumored. The only Apple notebook computer that will retail for less than $1,000 is the old white 2.1 GHz MacBook, which is getting a price cut from $1,099 to $999.
• The new MacBook Pros come at two price points: $1,999 (2.4 GHz) and $2,499 (2.53 GHz)
• The new MacBooks look like 13-inch versions of the MacBook Pro and come in two configurations: $1,299 (2.0 GHz, 2 GB memory, 160 GB disk) and $1,499 (2.4 GHz, 2 GB memory, 250 GB disk)
• The new machines have no separate trackpad button. The glass trackpad is itself a button. "You just press and it clicks," writes Gruber. "Sounds odd, but I hear it's very cool in practice."
• The new machines are powered by Intel CPUs, but replace the Intel graphics chipsets with a new NVIDIA 9400M GPU (and, in the case of the MacBook Pro, a second NVIDIA 9600M GT). These chipsets can be used to drive an external monitor, including a new $899 24-inch Apple LED display that will also be introduced Tuesday afternoon.
• The MacBook Air remains largely unchanged, but with larger hard drives: a 120 GB disk in the low-end model, and a 128 GB solid-state drive in the high-end model.

"Keep your eyes peeled," warns Gruber, "for jackassery in post-event news coverage, much of which, I predict, will focus on the fact that none of these new machines sell for under $1299. The reality is that these new machines are all steps up, but the rumors that caught the most attention in the past week were the ones regarding $799 and $899 laptops. None of these “$800 new MacBook!” rumors came from anyone with any credibility, but that won’t stop some people from holding it against Apple that they didn’t pan out."

You can read Gruber's full report here. He offers no explanations for where he got his information, but given the tenor of his final comments we wouldn't be surprised if the specs weren't deliberately leaked to lower expectations that had gotten wildly out of control.

Apple is scheduled to unveil the new MacBook lineup at a special event on its Cupertino campus at 1 p.m. ET (10 a.m. PT).

En cuanto a los precios, según se comenta esta foto ha sido filtrada de una Apple Store,de manera que se especula que el documento muy posiblemente y presuntamente haya sido "robado". Lo más destacable es un modelo cuya denominación difiere completamente del resto cuyo precio es de 899 $ lo cual hace pensar que sea un nuevo modelo de portátil, en fin en breves horas descubriremos cuanto hay de cierto en todo esto.

"The new trackpad is similar to the Air’s, in that it is bigger and supports additional multi-touch gestures. But unlike the Air’s, the MacBook Pro’s new trackpad is made of glass, and is a button itself. You just press and it clicks."

Inbjudan till Apples presskonferens

Som vanligt spekuleras det en hel del innan Apple skall släppa nya produkter och i kväll (klockan 19 svensk tid) är det alltså äntligen dags för företaget att uppdatera sina laptops. Det kan vara svårt att sålla agnarna från vetet i ryktesfloran och bland förhandsläckorna. Inte blir det bättre av att det spekuleras mycket av mindre seriösa element på Wall Street i Apples aktier, vilket ger dem ytterligare incitament att sprida falsk information som påverkar aktiekursen i ena eller andra riktningen.

Efter ett tag blir man bättre på att urskilja de trovärdiga källorna, men det kräver ett visst engagemang för att göra så. Enklast — och förnuftigast — är förstås att helt enkelt vänta till själva presskonferensen. Men vi är många som inte kan hålla oss ifrån bloggar och skvallersajter i vår jakt på det senaste från Cupertino. Så för att hjälpa mina läsare på traven erbjuder jag härmed Peters förhandstips inför kvällens event.

Förhandstips för den otålige

Alla nya bärbara datorer kommer att uppdateras med Nvidias nya 9400M GPU grafikkort. För MacBooken är detta en rejäl prestandaförbättring.

Apples MacBooks kommer att uppdateras:

• Tre prisklasser som vanligt. Den billigaste varianten kommer att behålla sin nuvarande formfaktor och omfattas inte av nedanstående.
• Nytt utseende med aliminiumhölje.
• Ny större trackpad i glas, utan fysisk knapp. Eller rättare sagt, hela trackpaden är en klickbar knapp.
• Trackpaden hanterar gester på det sätt som MacBook Air gör idag.
• Processorerna kommer inte att bli snabbare. Mellanprisklassen kommer i själva verket att gå ner i klockhastighet.
• Inga prissänkningar. På sätt och vis kan man till och med säga att de blir något dyrare.

15" MacBook Pro uppdateras också:

• Samma formfaktor som de förnyade MacBookarna. 
• Samma nya trackpad i glas.
• Samma grafikkort som MacBookaarna, men dessutom…
• …ett extra grafikkort, nämligen Nvidia 9600M GT. Detta kommer att få särskild betydelse när OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard släpps nästa år, då man kommer att utnyttja grafikkorten även till andra processorintensivca uppgifter, vilket kan leda till en rejäl prestandaförbättring.

17" MacBook Pro får inte se några förändringar. Det har spekulerats i om den kommer att fasas ut helt och hållet, men det kan jag inte svara på.

MacBook Air uppdateras:

• Större hårddiskar.
• Samma grafikkort som MacBookaarna.

Dessutom kommer vi att få se nya bildskärmar. Sådeså.

Så kommer det att bli.

Ich werde versuchen, während des Events regelmäßig, die neusten Infos zusammen zutragen und hier zu verlinken, so dass wir hier so ein kleines Live-Gefühl-Event hinkriegen.

...Aber im ernst: Das Monitordesign wirkt sehr stark nach iMac und die Tastatur nach MacBook Air. Auch wenn wir so ähnliche Bilder schon häufig gesehen haben, scheint es doch irgendwie ein  verwursten von mehreren Stilen.  Aber seht selbst:

Interessant ist, dass das Trackpad keine sichtbaren Knöpfe mehr hat! Außerdem fehlt wohl der Firewire 400 Port, was für viele Endgeräte sicherlich hinderlich sein wird.
Sollten die Engadget-Informanten recht haben, wird das neue MacBook Pro 2 GPUs haben.

Für alle, die portbegeistert sind, hier noch eine Seitenansicht:

Ein kleiner Skandal könnte es sein, wenn die Quelle, die auch die Bilder bereit gestellt hat, recht behält und das MacBook sowie das 17" MacBook Pro heute nicht erneuert werden.

I was also right about the curves on the edges. Note the top of the screen and its dramatic curves and also near the track pad that features no click button.

Que si va a salir una linea con un precio menor de $800 dolares, que si nueva carcaza, que nuevo chipset y hasta la mas vieja de todas, un dock en el TouchPad.

Pero a casi 12 horas de que empiece el evento ha salido para mi la mejor foto de lo que parece ser la nueva MacBook Pro y tambien se rumora que no trae un GPU NVIDIA... TRAE 2!!!!!!!! MOUSTRO!!!!!

Ya, esperemos que dentro de 12 horas ya sepamos por fin que es lo nuevo que trae Apple entre manos, estaremos en cobertura acerca del evento, visitanos.

My Dad has recently expressed his interest in owning my Dell Inspiron, using it as his portable stock exchange/ database computer. What better time it is to get a new laptop than these exciting times when the new MacBook and MacBook Pros are coming out??

*Oh yeah, btw, I am still using a 256MB Kingston Datatraveler II thumbdrive as well, and i'm sure it felt so daunted this morning when it was doing its job alongside thumbdrives from my other colleagues which had the capacity of 8GB and beyond. 0_0 It was lost three times and found again. And it survived a washing machine cycle without any loss of data. Time for an upgrade?

It is finally here and all our questions will be answered, hopefully. Apple will be having its "spotlight turns to notebooks" event tomorrow at Cupertino Town Hall. It is an invite only event so don't try to just walk in. There have been many rumors about a new MacBook or MacBook Pro. Will that be or will there be some sort of completely new step for Apple? We are also hoping the "Brick" rumors will be answered. Apple hasn't let us down yet. Engadget and Gizmodo will be holding a liveblog for the event.

No, this is not some kind of rumor or leak from Apple's Tuesday "The spotlight turns to notebooks" event. Long before, Apple has been anodizing aluminum with colors and they look great. Wouldn't it be worth spending an extra $150 for an anodized black MacBook Pro?

Well, I love the anodized black MacBook Pro, but $150 extra? Apparently the matte black MacBook was worth $150 extra. Come on Apple, $25 is enough for the anodized color.

On Tuesday, Apple will unveil their new line of notebooks. The new MacBook Pro is unlikely to have tapered sides, because it would be to hard to access the port without compromising the aesthetics.
