Min storhetstid som blogger var da jeg kunne skrive på jobb. Etter jeg begynte på rådhuset har jeg måtte slutte med det, men etter 1,5 år med tørke ser det ut til å løsne.

Til jul begynner jeg som fulltids informasjonskonsulent, og da er det ingen som vil reagere på at jeg sitter og knotrer på datamaskinen fremfor å flytte på papirer. :)

Jeg pusler for tiden med en ønskeliste-blog før jul og bursdag også... Jeg har en dysfunksjonell familie som trenger bilder for å skjønne hva de skal skaffe meg.  Jeg Vil Ha!

Welcome, my friends, welcome to the inaugural post for the Eaten by Monsters blog. I guess I should start with a bit of background info. to set the scene regarding the birth of this exciting venture.

Basically, I'm a sometime musician/student/fainéant who feels he has the right to hoist his opinions on the rest of the world, regardless of whether or not anybody'll actually listen...

My band is called Eaten by Monsters (hence the blog's title) and you can find everything you'd ever want to know (and just a little bit more) here, which is not only my bands website, but also the website for my entire label. That's right, boys and girls, this cool cat's a high-flying executive in the world's smallest
no-budget indie label, Bearfaced Records.

On my site I have a little journal (a.k.a. an uber pretentious blog) documenting all my musical adventures, and a few friends and I release a semi-regular podcast charting the ups-and-downs of Bearfaced, along with some of the music/news/etc that's caught our attention at any particular time.

But yet I was still left wanting. I craved a more personal and informal forum for airing my views; and lo and behold; I started this blog.

Here I will write reviews of stuff I've come across in my voyages through the cultural ether, as well as rant about various news items that stir up the bile in my belly.

So enjoy!

It seemed as if Elphaba were coming up for air from a still, isolated pool.  "While I don't read the same thing every day, you know, tonight I am reading some of the speeches of the early unionist fathers."

"Why would anyone want to do that?"

"I don't know.  I don't even know if I want to read them.  I'm just reading them."  (p. 99)

But while doing that, something I noticed and found amusing was that google reader has a very neat "Your stuff" page listing:

• a neat profile complete with photo and links to other homepages
• shared and starred posts, with a comment
• shared notes, which is a very simple way to do blogging, with a title, a body and tags

That page is available also via RSS, so I've also syndicated it to the side of this blog.

Maybe it could even be made to replace the blog itself?

I find the blog keeps mixing both big posts with deep content with smaller "what's up" posts, and maybe separating these smaller ones to the reader page would be better. But then just using the blog for posting big deep content doesn't ring so well with the format, and maybe moving that content to a different format such as a proper webpage would be better.

All in all, I have to think a bit more about all this...

EDIT: I've created a homepage at google sites with a news frontpage, a links part and also a part for longer articles... let me know how you feel about that! :)

I've moved to Wordpress because it's easy to use, forgiving of mistakes in input, and allowed me to merge the blog and my website into one entity. Later I'll try adding some photographs too.

Since I couldn't remember at the time, though, I went back to Bradbury.

Non sono arrivato a quella fase di blocco che anticipa sempre l'abbandono del blog; di questo sono certo. E' solo che se dovessi scrivere di tutto quello che faccio sarei sempre qui davanti allo schermo. Così eccomi qua, giusto per annunciare al mondo di nessuno che sono ancora vivo e vegeto, ora più che mai.
Ho iniziato un bel corso della provincia, e di questo parlerò.
Ho visto circa 3.2 milioni tra show televisivi e film, e anche di questo prima o poi farò il resoconto (magari di gruppo, eh!).
Ho conosciuto nuova gente, visto nuovi posti, fatto nuove cose, bevuto nuove bevande, riso nuove risate... diciamo che quando riprenderò a scrivere di certo non avrò carenza di argomenti.
Per ora, in attesa, saluto cordialmente le palle di fieno rotolanti che sostituiscono il mio pubblico di lettori, passo e chiudo. Big Balls.

Mas vou mentir e dizer que vi Palmeiras x Figueira? Vi o primeiro tempo e um pedacinho do segundo, o suficiente pra ficar puto com o lateral direito do time, e principalmente, com o narrador da Grobo. 3 ou 4 minutos de jogo, e o cara já dando a tabela "atualizada" do campeonato.

Não tem que entrar nessa pilha. Tabela atualizada "em tempo real" é coisa de narrador de futebol nessa bicuda era televisiva, quando a supremacia da imagem é incontestável (e o sujeito precisa inventar abobrinhas pra encher os 90 minutos de jogo, mais os 15 de intervalo, e uns 5 de pós-jogo). Tabela só fecha quando acaba a partida. O Palmeiras não deixou de ser líder aos 3 minutos do primeiro tempo em Florianópolis, deixou de sê-lo perto da meia-noite, quando amargou um empate e o mosquitinho de PoA sacramentou a vitória por 2x0 em seus domínios.

(Deus, graças por não morar em Porto Alegre. Seria uma quinta-feira pra usar o manto verde, ainda que sob o risco de dar e levar muita porrada.)

Mas depende só de si mesmo para reverter a perda temporária da liderança. Contra tudo e contra todos.

Que venha o Choque-Rei.

O blog anda meio abandonado porque este que aqui escreve está passando por um mês decisivo para certas pretensões suas, que demandam exclusividade de tempo. Não só. É que também não há rigorosamente nada pra escrever. Segundo turno das municipais? Eleições americanas? Mais futebol? Seleçãozinha? Futsal? Equador? O processo de fritura nacional do Serra? Crise mundial?

Nada de nada de nada. 

Era bem a hora de escrever sobre os SILVÍCOLAS.

Har det noget med kulturdagene at gøre?

Jeg synes det ikke.

En god blog må bygge på tillid mellem blogger og læser:

• En kulturdage-blogger skriver selvfølgelig om kulturdagene.
• En kulturdage-blogger skriver selvfølgelig om noget, som både bloggeren og læseren (formentlig) vil finde interessant og relevant.

Ellers kommer læseren næppe tilbage!

Med andre ord: Kvalitetsblogging tak!

Jeg kan dog ikke forstille mig, at jeg selv vil benytte mig af bloging. Men hvem ved? Måske sidder jeg om 10 år og blogger på liv og løs:)

Det jeg kan fortælle jer om her, er yderst subjektiv fakta som læseren nu må opfatte relativt!

Men jeg HADER ananas på pizza, jeg aner ikke hvilket univers den ide kom fra? Ananassen blev sgu da ikke skabt til at være varmt. Det kan måske lige gå til en karryret, men der skal det også være K-O-L-D-T. Jeg får det vammelt bare ved tanken om lun ananas.

Det er ligesom at .... Varme kokos?, det er jo heller ikke ligefrem den mest dilikate tanke, am i right?

Ananas er en snak der bør nydes kold, til brunch eller til en karryret, men det skal aldrig i livet supplere skinke på en såkaldt "Hawaii" pizza!.. Hawaii i min røv altså.

Når vi nu alligevel snakker ulækre Pizza'er, må jeg så spørger hvem der putte smør på sin pizza? Er de mennesker seriøst klar over det allerede eksisterende antal fedt % i en pizza? Seriøst, i beder jo om at blive æske fede !

Er i uenige med min holdning, og så synes at ananas og smør lyder fanastisk ... Så er i mærkelige!!! ..

Lembro que, à época, a publicação dele me causou umas tantas dores de cabeça. Era autoral demais. 

Hoje, não faria sentido postar um troço daqueles aqui. Porque hoje eu sou uma pessoa melhor (*pausa dramática, sorriso republicano no rosto, olhar olímpico perdido no horizonte*).

Oras. Se o Netinho pode sonhar, eu também posso.

*Sim, encho a boca e as pontas dos dedos para falar "minha melhor amiga", que só perderá (temporariamente) o status quando a próxima briga feia acontecer. Muito amor até que ocorra uma discussão de fazer voar os pratos metafóricos que sustentamos em precário equilíbrio. Enquanto isso não acontece... Agüentem.

De verdade, não sei o que deu errado. As pessoas perderam o interesse pela política, e ele soube construir uma imagem de "gerentão", o anti-político. Claro que, como quase toda imagem, essa não se sustenta: ele não é administrador porra nenhuma e no decorrer da campanha, diz-que negociava a troca de partido. Perdeu a vaga na disputa para outro manager, um que está de posse da máquina. 

Para mim, foi o grande vexame das municipais/08. Governador, candidato, depois governador eleito, candidato ao cargo executivo máximo, derrotado em segundo turno... meteu-se a uma candidatura local contra uma ex-prefeita e um intendente que assumiu o bonde andando. Tipo de eleição que, se ganhasse, não seria mais que a obrigação. 

Perder foi um vexame.

MAS quem não perde mais é meu Palmeiras -- com direito a casa cheia, gente pendurada até no lustre (salve Nelson Rodrigues!) para o jogo contra o Atrético.

Não deu pra ir ao estádio, os únicos ingressos que consegui foram com uma corintiana, que me ofereceu. Sai, zebra, xô mico!, essa gente dá azar. 

Pô, minha melhor amiga, tão espírito de porco quanto eu (mais, na verdade), implicou com a grafia trocada de algumas palavras. Como pode ser a dúvida de mais pessoas, explico: não estou tentando ser blasé, não. É que certas palavras acabam se tornando operativos políticos de gente bem-educada e usualmente mal-intencionada; eu troco a grafia para me apropriar delas, dissociando-as das idéias originalíssimas da intelequitualidade campus do vale e fêfêléchí que domina o mundo.

I reflect.   If it's a short piece or I have just a short quote or quick burning idea, I may post the idea or quote right away, without any context.   OR, if it's a longer piece I complete a good chunk of reading, do some drafting and then read something else.  Then I return to the original text, find quotes, streamline some (yes, believe it or not, some of these are streamlined), and then post.

This leads to some definite procrastination of course.   I still have the last chunk of Aztec to annotate, and the "very special" Rent post is still dwindling in the "drafts" folder.

I hope to, in the future, move to shorter, more frequent posts, and leave fewer drafts unpublished in the folder.  We'll see.

Dale Says-  My good friend Dale Lyles on the cultural art around Newnan, GA, educational issues here in Georgia, liberal rants, and records of his artmaking.  His opera, A Visit to William Blake's Inn, which I saw at a backer's performance last year, is being considered for UGA's upcoming season.  If it is selected, it will be the first full-production and the official premeire.   That would mean his first work is done only a couple of decades after his UGA contemporary, John Doyle.  In additon to dozens of past shows, he is currently directing (managing?) the Lacuna Group's all male production of Coriolanus-   I was invited to be a part, and bad wanted to, but 1.75 hours away was too far for even twice a week rehearsals. And now we have no gas in Atlanta.  Check his Arts Speech as well.

Nerve-  daily commentary on TV, Videogames, Culture, Art, Photography.  Screengrab is the best film commentary around (and uses "fucking" as an adverb considerably less often than Harry Knowles).  And the best "lists" anywhere on the internet.

Slate-  Daily commentary on pop culture and politics.  Left leaning, but not leftist.  Weekly poetry as well.

Smichovsky Compensation Syndrome- Literate, Latino, and Loud.  Playwright and poet Kristoffer Diaz talks about media, politics, and the New York Theater scene.  Kris was one of my roommates at NYU (as soon as the other one gets a film blog, I'll hunt him up too), and ten years on, remains a powerful and positive influence on my life.  He is the John Doyle to my Dale Lyles.

The Daily Dish- One of the most popular blogs on the web, and hardly needing my endorsement, but I check Andrew Sullivan before I check Drudge.  It's political commentary, media, photos of the day, weekly poetry, wonderful.  Some friends, Harry inparticular, are a little revolted by how much I enjoy Sullivan's writing (which is a queer, christian, conservative- albeit not conservative christian- standpoint), but that's okay.  He's the only person I know who has the same level of absoulte contempt for Governor and Vice-Presidential Canidate Bunny.

Se for assim, com cezinho e não com Cezão, você não quer saber da minha vida e sim de sua antítese, qual seja, a vida cristã abnegada. Para isso leia a Bíblia, não um blog. E isso vale para qualquer blog.

Muita coisa pode ser obra de arte. Picasso e a tela "Os Três Músicos". A segunda pergunta eu não entendi. Qual a relação entre arte e música, é isso? Procure pela distinção que Nietzsche estabelece entre o dionisíaco e o apolíneo na tragédia. Você não vai encontrar nesse blog porque eu acho pedante escrever sobre o tio metafísico.

3. o que é filisteísmo, filisteísmo burguês, filisteismo =

Os filisteus formavam um povo antagônico ao povo hebreu, na Bíblia. Golias era filisteu. Nas ciências humanas, o filisteu é outra coisa. Para Lênin, filisteu era todo o oportunista político que se recusava a fazer a revolução (e ele nomeia alguns, como Kautsky).

Para Arendt, filisteu é o utilitarista, aquele que faz uso da arte e da alta cultura como se fosse algo passível de consumo.

Não acho o giannetti um idiota, isso é coisa de uspiano metido ou de quem leu apenas o textinho dele sobre Machado e literatura [teve endereço, hein?]. Eu tenho "o livro das citações" porque todo mundo sabe que eu sou dado a vernizes de cultura. Um verniz é o que me basta. Quando for rico, vou encomendar prateleiras que já venham acompanhadas de livros falsos com lombadas de couro. Como aquele personagem do Mario de Andrade, comprarei os livros e os manterei virgens, embaladinhos na estante. Essa é a importância do livro pra minha vida.

Auto ajuda não é hipocrisia, é um manual de vida para idiotas. Há muitos mundo afora. E Dale Carnegie não é porcaria nem auto-ajuda, seu idiota. São TÉCNICAS (leia-se: TÉ-NI-CAS) de engambelamento.

"Hipocrisia é o tributo que a virtude paga ao vício". Ou alguma coisa. Do Wilde. Ou alguém parecido com ele.

Não sei como vão ficar as ações da petro, uma vez que o governo bate cabeça com a possibilidade de financiar ou não o crescimento da empresa com recursos do FGTS. Do ponto de vista social, eu acho que vender ações da petrolífera para os trabalhadores é o mínimo que uma estatal deveria fazer. Mas em termos econômicos, o dinheiro do FGTS é graninha barata que o governo poderia investir em outras obras de infraestrutura que usualmente não contam com aportes da iniciativa privada. 

Quanto a sonhar com jorros de petróleo... depende do gênero de quem pergunta.

Se você for mulher, tem alguma fantasia com mecânicos sujos de óleo e tá precisando transar.

Se você for homem, acordou gozado.

7. sou ex presidiário posso ser candidato a deputado estadual?

 Um quadro geral sobre mim mesmo em poucas palavras: sou eletrônico, anarco-individualista da variante americana (sim, nós gostamos de rótulos), casado, gente boa e tudo mais. Meus interesses pessoais: eletrônica digital, engenharia de controle, economistas obscuros do século XIX, musculação, jardinagem, música, sexo, culinária, entre outros. Provavelmente o tipo de coisa que se encontrará por aqui, obviamente, apenas desculpas para que eu exercite minha necessidade de exposição pública espalhando meu narcisismo e auto-indulgência pela rede.

Avoir des Air Max, c'est tellement so vintage que j'en rêvais depuis pas mal de temps. Sur le site de NikeID, on peut même personnaliser sa paire et avoir un modèle unique. Pas mal, non?

Verdict : on voit pas ce que t'as cherché à dire avec ces chaussures.
Ma foi c'est pourtant simple.
Une base blanche qui représente la grammaire classique de la basket depuis la nuit des temps, un côté sport totalement affiché, associé à un coloris brun motif "alligator", qui véhicule une image ghetto/gangsta (ça me paraît pourtant super évident). L'association des deux sur un modèle classique du début des années 90, les Nike Air Max, modèle original, on est totalement dans le paradigme du grand classique réinventé, un peu girly (d'où le swoosh, la semelle et les lacets en rose fushia).
Où l'on voit que j'ai bien quelque chose à dire avec mes Air Max. Et où l'on voit qu'une paire de sneakers peut se vouloir un peu girly.

Grâce à ça, je peux continuer sur le style Lily Allen ou faire cours en B-Boyette (ou B-Girl, ou G-Girl, je sais pas trop) tout en ayant un vrai style assumé. Où l'on voit cependant que le brun passe mieux sur le site Nike ID qu'en vrai.
