(Al-Oufok)

Detto così sembra allarmante, in realtà è peggio.

Now Lebanon (Extratos) - Beirute

[caption id="attachment_397" align="alignnone" width="420" caption="Fonte: Now Lebanon"][/caption]

Yoel Marcus Saturday August 19 2006

Never has a new government with a line-up of fresh faces and ambitious goals been entangled in so many foolish affairs within such a short span of time as that of Ehud Olmert:

a president suspected of sexual harassment;

an environmental affairs minister accused of election bribery;

a justice minister facing charges of indecent behaviour;

a chief of staff who liquidated his stock portfolio two hours before the war;

a defence minister who wasn't aware of any missile threat; and

a prime minister who raced into war without due consideration of its justness and consequences.

Much has been said and written

about the wisdom of launching a full-scale war instead of making do with a retaliatory operation after the kidnapping of two soldiers;

about the first Israeli government to allow its citizens to be bombarded by 4,000 missiles from a terrorist organisation;

about a million Israeli refugees making a beeline from north to south;

about the tremendous loss of life and property.

Who would have imagined, with all our military might, that we would not be victorious in a war where Israel was Goliath and Hizbullah was David?

Blindly, without thinking, Israel volunteered to leap for the second time into the Lebanese bog. With an army of reserve soldiers sitting there until the multinational force arrives, it's only a matter of time before Hizbullah creeps out of its lair and batters us with roadside bombs and suicide bombers.

At the moment, it doesn't feel like things are under control. It is far from certain that the Olmert administration has an agenda that will allow it to survive another three-and-a-half years in office. What we do know, sizing up this war, is that the government operated backward. First it acted, and then it sat down to think.

David Ben-Gurion used to shut himself up for days before important decisions. Rather than look before you leap, the Olmert administration was guided by the opposite principle: leap before you look. The bombastic threats against the enemy, the promises of a new Middle East, the talk about disarming Hizbullah and ending the rocket fire - it was more a shot in the dark than a premeditated plan.

The outcome of the war has exposed our weak points. Apart from President Bush, who says we won, our overuse of air power and the huge damage we inflicted on Lebanon and Lebanese infrastructure have prompted the world to change its mind about the justification of our actions. Hizbullah survived with most of its arsenal intact, and can always count on its patrons to replenish it. That, and the fact that it stands a good chance of becoming part of the Lebanese establishment and winning the elections, has prompted Assad Jr to rattle his sabre.

Israel is still toying with the dangerous idea of bumping off Hassan Nasrallah. When his predecessor, Abbas Musawi, was assassinated, Hizbullah blew up a major Jewish centre in Argentina, and we were saddled with an heir who is wilier by far.

In the old days, when a Jewish mother wanted to brag about her son, she would say he had the head of a cabinet minister. Today, it might be grounds for libel. With a million refugees wandering the country, millions of dollars of economic damage and the trauma of thousands of missiles hitting our homes, there is no question that the public is going to rethink its trust in a government that indulges in such hasty decision-making. With so many questions in the air and a political tsunami on the way, it's time to get set for early elections.

A speech by Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah points to one of the characteristics of what the Reut Institute calls the 'Resistance Network' or groups representing the 'Ethos of Struggle'.

In the speech, Nasrallah states that even if Lebanon receives control of the Shebaa Farms, his organization will continue to battle Israel saying that "We're not using Shebaa as an excuse to bear weapons. If the area is freed the weapons will remain because we are talking about a defensive strategy against a threatening country such as Israel."

The 'Resistance Network' relates to a system of state and non-state actors that use terror and limited warfare (among other tools) to promote an extremist political agenda in the Middle East. It poses a new model of security and political threat by successfully preventing Israel from military or political achievements leading towards its secure existence.

One way the Resistance Network achieves this is by rejecting any steps that could lead to a Finality of Claims or End of Conflict.

Nasrallah's statement, reflects what Reut has identified as the Shebaa farms syndrome. This relates to the dynamic of the resistance network of widening demands to preserve a pretext for continued conflict and resistance against Israel. For example, until Israel's withdrawal from Lebanon in May 2000, Hizbullah focused on 'liberating' Southern Lebanon. Following the withdrawal, Hizbullah sought to continue the struggle against Israel on the pretext of new issues such as the Shebaa farms, Israeli flyovers, prisoners or water sources.

Now it seems that even if these are resolved, Hizbullah will continue its resistance.

Güneş yakıyor her şeyi. Her şeyi yakıyor uçaklardan atılan bombalar. Askerlerin morali iyice bozuluyor.

Paraphrasing what the foreign minister of Israel (Livni) said last week: "Don't even think of attacking Iran, and don't even whisper the idea". In the article I read it mentioned an Iranian ballistic missile taking 11 minutes to hit Israel, The Iranians have also said they have radar evading missiles. It is all hard to believe for me the layman. But it is nice to hear some sobering words like: "Don't attack".

.

The Defense minister of Israel (Barak) has started getting some bad press, post Georgia.
And there is speculation Olmert might remain prime minister; ruling a caretaker government until national elections.

.

Nasrallah is promising "Israel is done for" if it so much as fires a single shot into Lebanon". And Nasrallah is saying the increasing threats coming from Israel are related to the upcoming (political party?) elections in Israel. Nevertheless he says the threats are to be taken seriously. But he is in no doubt Israel will lose the next war. In fact Ahmedinajad sounds similar. And a Hizbollah member of the Lebanese parliament says Hizbollah will send 11,000 missiles as soon as Israel attacks Iran.

.

The US / NATO blockade of Iran has not yet materialized, perhaps the neocons post Georgia are having second thoughts. After all what should have been a war tying down the Russians for months or years was over in four days. And there is an SCO meeting next week. The SCO is a Chinese Russian Central Asian security agreement to stop the spread of NATO

.

Re Georgia (meaning Russia) there must be some infighting and blame throwing amongst senior neocon figures. The Western intelligence was a total failure.

What is needed is an ideology for the west, there is not one! There is just a trickle down crookery.

All that is ahead is inflation and scarcity. Maybe wars against weak states with resources.

But our ruling oligarchy can't cope with any new thoughts, it is so tetchy, guilt ridden and indulged in crime and deceit, it is as if we have to witness the painful and dangerous death throws of the empire unfold. Where any truthseeker has to be ostracised and maligned!

Bankrupt in every way possible. And the Internet has played a big part in this. All those millions of people, putting pieces of truth together. It really is too late.

Israel and Zionism and even the holocaust have lost or are losing sympathy. Blame it on the internet and you would be right. Zionism died from the internet.

It also killed itself by following a seemingly Jewish holiness given to private enterprise. Where corporations wage battles and virtually declare wars. Where the quantity of mercenaries equals soldiers.

Only the Jews can save the west, that is, the west as we know it. By reexamining whatever fundamental principles have motivated them so far. Surely they need to accept that being a human is more important than a creed or wealth. Maybe also borrow from Islamic thought.

The only people making money today are lying and cheating. A new ideology would need to tackle this. It anyway makes for flaky alliances.

There are no links because this post is from a phone. But Hizbollahs web site is on the left column, and Presstv is Iranian, and Haaretz and Ynet cover the Israeli press.

Arab women singers complicit in rape, says Amnesty report
[July 2004]
While African women in Darfur were being raped by the Janjaweed militiamen, Arab women stood nearby and sang for joy, according to an Amnesty International ...

During an attack on the village of Disa in June last year, Arab women accompanied the attackers and sang songs praising the government and scorning the black villagers.

According to an African chief quoted in the report, the singers said: "The blood of the blacks runs like water, we take their goods and we chase them from our area and our cattle will be in their land. The power of [Sudanese president Omer Hassan] al-Bashir belongs to the Arabs and we will kill you until the end, you blacks, we have killed your God."

The chief said that the Arab women also racially insulted women from the village: "You are gorillas, you are black, and you are badly dressed."

The Janjaweed have abducted women for use as sex slaves, in some cases breaking their limbs to prevent them escaping, as well as carrying out rapes in their home villages, the report said.

Locking up Sudan’s Al-Bashir could let in some light into war-torn Darfur ... Al Bashir launched his own version of terrorism in 1989 when his government promulgated the ‘Popular Defence Forces Law’ which legalised paramilitary training to militias to execute a “jihad against Christian influence in the South”. [...]
Under this umbrella fundamentalist Islamic revivalism, the legitimate claims of the peoples of Darfur for an end to their economic backwardness and marginalisation would be subverted through the “jihad”. [...]
Al Bashir was urgently accused of committing “genocide” in Darfur. Sudan’s tragedy has been the pathological cruelties of successive leaders (from Jaffar al Nimeiry, Sadiq al Mahdi to Al Bashir), against citizens of their country. Sudanese intellectuals, like Deng and Prof Ibrahim, have seen Arab racism as the curse of Sudan. This terrible virus is claimed to be most virulent in leaders with varying degrees of dark skin and West-African tribal marks—the Janjaweed.

Katanya :

Kami ucapkan terima kasih padamu ya Nasrallah (sekjend.

(http://english.hizbollah.tv)

Lebanese Hezbollah Holds Meeting in Support of Sudanese President - Hezbollah pledges support for Omar Al Bashir and the Sudanese Government
Text of report by Lebanese National News Agency website

[LNNA headline: "Hezbollah organizes consultative meeting in support of Sudan and its President Umar al-Bashir"]

A consultative meeting was held this morning at the invitation of Hezbollah. The meeting, which included nationalist parties, Palestinian factions, local figures and organizations, and the charge d'affaires of the Sudanese Embassy at the head of a delegation, was held in support of Sudan and its President Umar Hasan al-Bashir. The meeting was first addressed by Husayn al- Khalil, the political aide to the secretary general of Hezbollah, who said:

"We in Hezbollah are honoured to meet with you today in defence of a national, pan-Arab, and Islamic cause, which is to stand side by side with our brothers in Sudan - leadership and people. This is because this beloved country is facing an ugly conspiracy to undermine its unity, freedom, and independence."

He added: "The peoples of our region, which is currently in the midst of a historic battle with world arrogance and its dominant forces, are recording the most splendid epics in Lebanon, Palestine, and Iraq, moving the nation from victory to victory and dealing successive blows to the US and Israeli plan. These peoples are now called upon to defend the vanguards of their resistance and liberation movements in the Arab and Islamic worlds. Perhaps, what happened to our kinfolk in Palestine for scores of years and is still happening today and what is currently happening to wounded Iraq, and what is also being planned against brotherly Sudan confirm without the slightest shade of doubt that the process of mutilation and disintegration led by the United States is the core of a hostile plan, which aims controlling the destinies of the nation and its countries, plundering their resources, and enslaving of their peoples."

He continued: "The deteriorating and weak condition of the official Arab order, which is witnessing daily conflicts between its components and sinking deep in the laps of the US plan, is the one that has made the tools of world crime or what are now called international courts dare to make unprecedented decisions against Arab kings and presidents. If anything, this indicates the humiliation of this ominous official order. The vicious efforts that are being exerted by the United States in the heart of our Arab World aim at changing the real direction of the conflict, split the Arabs into blocs of moderation and extremism and stab at our national crucial issues with Arab hands and portray the Islamic peoples and states such as Iran, which supports us with all its power and capabilities, as a great threat to the Arabs, and exert pressure in order to establish normal and peace alliances with our historic enemy; namely, the Zionist entity; all that constitutes a strong entry of US influence into the heart of our world and society on the political, cultural, and military levels."

He said: "The unfair and condemned decision which has been made against His Excellency President Umar Hasan al-Bashir and that is aimed at brotherly Sudan - leadership, government, and people, with all their factions, forces, and parties including the Sudanese opposition forces, is aimed at all the noble forces, parties, and liberation movements that oppose the US-Israeli plan. This is in addition to the official regimes. It is also aimed at all the positions of power and opposition in this beloved nation. The painful reality of the official Arab order does not exempt us at all as peoples and liberation movements from assuming our full role in confronting any hostile action against any Arab country and backing its beloved people.

Concluding, he said: "We in Lebanon, the whole of Lebanon, where we went through all experiences in fighting the Zionist occupiers and invaders and where our people made great sacrifices for the liberation of our country and the preservation of our dignity, and who are living these days one of the landmarks of great victory over the Israeli enemy; we who know very well the meaning of aggression, occupation, domination, and foreign interference, are called upon to take a responsible stand by extending the hand of aid to and express our support for our kinfolk and brethren in Sudan - leadership and people - a country, which has often assumed its historic national and Islamic responsibilities."

TV Al-Manar, 17.0708

Samir Kuntar: “Scienze sociali”.

Intervistatore: “Ha completato il suo master?”

Samir Kuntar: “No, me lo hanno impedito.

Intervistatore: “Intende completarlo ora?”

Samir Kuntar: “No. Ad Allah piacendo, farò un master diverso”.

Intervistatore: “In cosa?”

Samir Kuntar: “Certamente, certamente, certamente. Lo dico tre volte”.

Its very convenient for Hassan Nasrallah to dismiss all his critics by simply claiming that they are

Its very convenient for Hassan Nasrallah to dismiss all his critics by simply claiming that they are against the resistance in general and against defending Lebanon against Israeli aggression. Unfortunately for him, this is just not in line with reality. March 14 is all for recognizing Israel as Lebanon's enemy which represents an existential threat to our country. They are also willing to support the resistance, but not on Nasrallah's terms! We want resistance under the auspices of the state. We do not want that Nasrallah decides when we go to war or not; that choice should be made at the Council of Ministers. We do not want the Hizb to have a free hand in numerous parts of the country; we want the national authorities to be in charge of every inch of Lebanon's territory. We do not want their militia to decide who to arrest when and where. That is the sole preserve of the government and its various bodies. Period!

So, Nasrallah, stop this talk of takhwin and talking about March 14 trying to stop the resistance, because its just not true. So, get that into your head. All we are asking is that we as Lebanese and all the Lebanese decide on the issues of security and war and peace.
