I've already talked about Fallout: Between Good and Evil, a Fallout 2 total conversion made by the Czech modding group Tower of Creation. For those that missed it here's what they have been up to:

Fallout: Between Good & Evil is a freely distributed modification using Fallout 2 engine.

The mod is being developed since 2005 and it aims to offer experience which Bethesda's Fallout 3 can't or doesn't want to provide: prequel of events on the West Coast of US, very complex dialogues / quests and turn-based combat in 2D isometric view. Currently, more than twenty people actively prepare the game with the release date Christmas 2009. Our work should bring you back memories of Fallout, Fallout 2 PC games and will have many references to Van Buren and the Cold War.

Now my friend Jesterka sent news that they have a new update on their site, with some cool art. Must see stuff.

Ok, o să încep eu...păi descopeream că fetiţele îmi suscitau un altfel de interes, altul decît acela de a-mi bate joc de ele (laolaltă cu restu' grupului de băeţi dîn faţa blocului); primeam primul bileţel roşu (ştiţi voi, ăla cu inimioare), ulterior, aproape enervant de intermitent, primeam, of course, şi bileţelul verde..bine, odată am primit şi-o frunză de pătlagină pe care fata scrijelase c-o piatră, "verde". De atunci n-am mai scris nici eu bileţele roşii. Ok, le-aş fi putut scrie pe-o roşie, dar n-aş fi fost la fel de original ca Alina (fata cu frunza de "verde"). Am auzit că acum e plecată prin alte ţări..
Mai descopeream că ţigările BT (cine mai ţine minte BT-urile?) sunt nocive fumate pe furiş, în pădure, împreună cu Sică şi Costicăh. Ni se făcea rău după ce fumam un pachet, adică aproximativ 6,5 ţigări de persoană, într-o oră.. :)
Eram în clasa a IV a şi aşteptam să trec în clasa a V a. Învăţasem să dansez "rep" şi "bluz", dădusem primul "mozol". A fost o vară plină..voi?

Zu ersteinmal: Ich werde mich demnächst damit außeinandersetzen, eine vernünftige Domain, sprich eine ".de-Domain" zu bestellen.

Zweitens werde ich in den nächsten Minuten nocheinmal versuchen, die Foto-Alben in Gange zu kriegen, damit ihr alle meine Fotos ansehen könnt...

Drittens werde in naher Zukunft eine neue Kamera anlegen, damit meine Fotos noch schärfer werden!

So...xD

Een representatief deel van mijn manuscript voor mijn tweede boek is onderweg naar een speler in het literaire veld. En ik wacht op een oordeel, een droog "ja" of "nee".

Het kan nog lang duren voor ik wat hoor. Dat geeft niet, ik ben al lang onderweg.

Ik denk nog niet aan wat de gevolgen van het antwoord zullen zijn. Ondertussen schrijf ik verder. Werken is goed tegen stress. Werken is vooruitgaan. En er is nog veel werk.

Maar dat op de rand van voelen, als de cent die veel te lang tolde maar nog geen kant heeft gekozen, dat gaat nu even niet weg.

De weg is lang. Mijn weg is lang.

Ich habe einiges Interessantes um mich herum zurzeit. Eins davon ist die Übersetzung und Transliteration eines israelischen/hebräischen Gedichtes ins Deutsche, was mir schöne Stunden mit einer Kollegin verbringen lässt am Diskutieren und Herausfinden was die Dichterin gemeint hat und wie sich einige Stellen interpretieren lassen. Durchaus interessant, vor allem kann ich wieder die schwierige Beziehung Israel-Diaspora bis in die Tiefe forschen, und das nur anhand 20 Zeilen. Tel-Aviv-Europa, das Unvergleichbare vergleichbar machen. Sie redet von Verlassen des Hauses, oder der Heimat, wo nicht klar ist, was die Heimat war und was soll jetzt das Neue. Von Erinnerungen, die verkehrt vorkommen, wie bei einem Negativ von Photos, die jetzt schwarz erscheinen. Von sich bedroht zu fühlen spricht sie, weil eine Änderung des Äußeren auch eine des Inneren ist, weil die Assimilation droht, weil das Fremde so verführerisch ist, und doch das Sich Zurückdrehen an der Lot-Geschichte erinnert, also lieber nur nach Vorne schauen,

zum 60. Geburtstag Israels habe ich so oft „Mazel-Tov“ gehört, dass ich langsam genervt bin (ICH bin doch nicht 60 geworden, Danke schön!).

Nicht, dass ich mich nicht freue. Es soll keiner den Eindruck bekommen, ich sei nicht froh, dass mein Land 60 Jahre seit Begründung feiert. Aber wieso ist es allen plötzlich so wichtig? Und ich rede nicht einmal von Außenstehern, die sich plötzlich Gedanken machen, die sich plötzlich wundern dass es überhaupt einen Staat gibt (wo wart ihr denn bisher?), sondern von meinem eigenen Kreis.

Meine Mutter und ich in einem Telefongespräch. Sie: Nu, und hast du schon die israelische Flagge auf dem Balkon gesetzt? Ich: Nein, es ist noch nicht Zeit, ich habe überhaupt keine Flagge hier, und selbst wenn, wieso soll ich hier eine Flagge aufhängen? Sie: Na ja, weil es auch Dein Staat ist! Bist du dann etwa nicht stolz? Schämst du dich etwa für uns? Hast du denn keine Gefühle für deinen Staat mehr? Du bist ja überhaupt keine Israelin mehr!

Tief Ein- und dann Ausatmen.

* 2 Tage vor dem Gespräch, meine Mutter nach einer Operation mit Vollnarkose, ruft mich vom Krankenhaus aus an. Sie: siehst du gerade die Nachrichten? Ja, es ist so traurig… Ich bin noch schwach, kann noch nicht sprechen… Moment, da ist die nationale Hymne im Fernseher, ich muss aufstehen. Ich: Was musst du denn aufstehen, du bist ja im Krankenhaus und sollst liegen. Sie: Aber bei der Hymne steht man doch! Das ist unverschämt, wenn ich nicht stehe! Schon hast du deine Erziehung vergessen! Schon hast du keine Gefühle für deinen Staat!

Vielleicht hat sie Recht. Früher wäre ich auch aufgestanden, ohne darüber nachzudenken. Und auch die Flagge hätte ich aufgehängt, wenn ich nicht das gefühlt hätte, was ich heute dem Staat gegenüber fühle, samt dessen Institutionen und Symbolen.

But for now, I want to squee a little. I made some friends tonight! I hit it off with the girl next to me at the discussion, and we exchanged email addresses. I've joined a pro-choice group, met two more members of the group, and was invited to a party this Friday. Since I've always been in school up til now, I haven't had to really try to make friends – friendships kind of evolve when you're in classes with people, or on teams and in organizations. Now I'm in the real world, where I have to seek out friendships. I'm shy – it's intimidating. But I did it. :)

The beginning of the UFO/ET discussion:

The ET discussion was sparked by Patrick S. McNally's reply to this earlier comment, in which realitydesign wrote, as an argument for the advantages of videos over written communication:

You get to see the person’s behavior as they speak and look at them which allows your intuition to kick in as a tool to help decipher the nature of the information or the credibility of the person- on a gut level.

To which Pagrick S. McNally replied:

My gut level response to anyone who starts off about UFOs is that they sound like a hoaxer. Maybe that gut level intuition is wrong, but this is precisely why one attaches some significance to cross-references.

(referring back to my earlier pointing out of the ability to cross-reference as an advantage of print media).

Do you think that all mention of UFOs from astronauts to pilots to military to CIA to civilians across the globe over 60+ years are hoax based?

I’m not certain that there is any one sinlge explanation for all reports of UFOs in the last century. Literally, UFO just means “unidentified flying object” and such could be a bird in some cases. I do think that the development of military technology after 1945 saw a rise in the number of reported incidents of unidentified flying objects, and I doubt that such is an accident. Some proportion of the incidents in this time-frame almost certainly are the result of secret military technology being tested on the sly. But the exact percentage of such cases is impossible to determine. Even so, nothing about the reports of such UFOs within the last 6 decades or so has really compellingly supported the ET thesis. More likely we have a mixture of bird-sightings and military tests combined in some proportion which can’t be determined.

I don’t know how you could conclude something like this- totally false. There are now hundreds of military and high level government people worldwide who have gone on record saying ETs are real and they are/have been here. Even Astronauts have gone on record saying this. Then you get into eye witness testimony from hundreds of countries, mass sightings, abductions which have been seriously studied by highly respected Dr.s from around the world.

The phenomenon is real, as real as galileos finding about heliocentrism which was suppressed for 200 years.

P.S. sorry Diane, I imagine this isn’t the place for UFO stuff so I’m done.

Patick you might want to start with the disclosure project- Dr. Steven Greer has collected over 400 professionals testimony about ufos many of them military.

That’s one of the features which makes it smell like disinformation. John Lear was with the CIA for 17 years:

Since at least 2003 Lear has been circulating the story that “we have not been going back to the moon because we were told to stay away. That’s why Nasa abruptly canceled the program.” Coming from a “former” CIA man, this story stinks of sensationalized disinfo.

But the VAST majority of sightings and info come from regular folks. So these high level people are just corroborating. There are many genuine whistleblowers coming from high levels as well- they are not all disinfo that’s ridiculous. John was a UFO researcher back in the 1980’s and has done a lot and worked with many people- he is very well respected and if anything- colors up things when telling stories, but his basic premises, which are shared by many others in the field are solid if you ask me.

The vast majority of sightings and info which come from regular folks are compatible with the likelihood of secret military technology experimentation, carried out by earthlings without any need for assuming the presence of ETs. The ET yarn reads like a deflection exercise meant to protect domestic military secrets.

That response was feasible 50 years ago- but is profoundly insufficient today- in light of all the people who have come forward since then with repsect to all the different aspects of the UFO/ET field.

My view:

The topic of UFO's and ET's is not one I've studied in-depth, so I don't have a strong opinion. Offhand, I'm not inclined to believe that UFO's are alien spacecraft. I believe that one should look for other possible explanations before concluding that they definitely are alien spacecraft.

One thing I do consider extremely unlikely is some folks' belief in some sort of longstanding secret deal between ET's and human elites, complete with interbreeding, a la David Icke.

I did get a little time in game Friday night, which was a blast.  Since Reav and Taki have their Priest/Pally duo up to 70 now, we took them into Mech (me on my Mage) and after that they all took my hunter through Sethekk Halls, and I was able to pick up Terokk's Quill.  Its very shiny! 

In other news, I've realised a few things during my time out of WoW. 

1.  Teachers have one of the hardest jobs in the world.  I feel like a bone fide @$$hat for some of the crap I pulled back in my school days.  If you're in school, thank them every now and again as its hard work and unless you do, then it is a truly thankless job.

2.  There's these really crazy things that float in the sky and they take on weird shapes.  I saw one that looked like a duck and another one that looked like a Star Destroyer.  (I seriously was freaked out by that one.  I thought it was landing.)

3.  Running around screaming The Empire is landing troops, RAISE THE SHIELD!, doesn't seem to get anybody moving.  We need a new call to arms.

4.  Call To Arms is a fun game.

5.  Some games for the DS are pretty fun.  Others are pretty frustrating.  I got Tetris DS while I was unplugged and I can't beat it any more than I could beat the original.  What is with those stupid blocks.  They give me nightmares!

6.  When you have nightmares about falling blocks, YOU are in control, and YOU can make them all line up nice and neat, eliminating them and making them disappear.  YOU do not have to watch them stack up to the roof and suffocate you.

7.  House is an awesome show!

8.  Coffee is a lifesaver.

9.  It is perfectly acceptable for guys to 'eyeball' whether or not the new jeans are going to fit us.  If we have to go back to the store and get a different size, we just didn't like the 'look' of the jeans.

10.  Sleeping in because you were up late watching the 5th overtime period in hockey is an acceptable excuse for being late to work in the morning.  If you're CANADIAN that is!
