The Photos NYPD Tried To Stop

Photos taken Wednesday September 2, 2008 on Satan Island with the Philips crapcam:

See the tow truck on right?

Apparently this van came loose from it ...

... and rolled alllll the way down the hill ...

... until it met this car ...

... and did all this damage.

Now when I took this final picture, you can see the cop coming into frame at right. He actually made body contact with me and told me to "Keep walking." A real Nazi attitude. Let me repeat: He made physical contact with me. Assault.

There are many other ways he could have handled this. But he chose to be a Nazi. So instead of these photos being all private like, here they are.

NYPD, teach your troopers how to handle the law-abiding public.

This is still America.

And if none of you like that, get the fuck out of this country!

One of Skyler's and my new favorite games is to play peek-a-boo in her crib. She'll be sitting up in there after waking from a nap and I'll come in to get her. I duck down so my face is below the bumper and she can't see me, but then she'll grab the bumper and pull it down so she can see my face. As soon as she does, we both giggle, and sometimes she reaches her hand out to grab my face.

So much about this set of pictures says that Skyler is barely a baby anymore! I know, I know, she's still not walking, but she's got so many more skills and so much more attitude now, she's fast becoming her own unique little self!

Here she is in her cute new "big girl" pajamas. It's harder to find the one-piece footed kind for her size.

Some photos from our feeding sessions - she's getting so good at feeding herself! Now she only drops about 20% of what she's eating! Of course, after she was so amused by me feeding Bruno her leftovers, that's all she wants to do when he's around. She takes a bite, then throws a piece on the floor. Bite/throw, bite/throw. Luckily, they like the same food, so Bruno cleans it up nicely so I don't have to sweep! He will even take it out of her hand, and he's so gentle with her. He just lightly licks her hand till the food comes out. It's amazing how he just knows to be extra careful with her! If he's not around, she gets so into feeding herself that I have to stop her from shoveling too much food into her mouth before she chokes. She likes to get about 4 bites before even chewing it up and swallowing.

Trying out the old rocking horse at Great Granny's. She wasn't too sure about it. But gosh she's so cute in that dress!

And here she is, just wrestling around with her Daddy, perched up on his shoulder. I think this is my favorite snapshot that I've ever taken. Aren't they adorable?

Back to school

College students go back to school this weekend, which means its time for me to start working again.

So far this week, I have installed new dimmers on every single switch in the house, designed my wedding photo album, put up a gallery of picture frames in the hallway, hung (hanged? I should probably know this) curtain rods and bought and actually ironed new curtains, and created three bulletin boards for my sister-in-law's classroom. Today, I re-tiled my sister's fireplace, and now I'm thinking about heading to the hardware store to buy new ceiling registers and air return grills.

That may be pushing it, I guess. I guess it's time to get back to work.

Ugh.

Ginger in Sicily

One of my favorite places is Sicily. It is so authentic. It feels natural, like it has been this way for a very long time. The people are animated and the way you expect Sicilians to be. Things feel less congested and disturbed by modern times. Sicily has many more places of culture and history than you might imagine. Next to Athens, it has the largest standing Greek temple; something that I did not expect to find on an island in the Ionian Sea. Hospitality here is generous. One couple that did not speak English invited us into their home and offered us the gracious hospitality as though we were family. They say one picture is worth a thousand words so I am inserting my photo album of Sicily for you to see for yourself. Just click on the photo above. Happy travels.

Sedona sizzles in the summer. The red landscape is more alive and the tourists scarce. What a great time to experience all that is spiritual and natuaral. Hiking is best early in the morning and the few trails that navigate the canyons with water and shade are the favorites. Mid-day is for reading and napping and warm evenings are for dinning and heading to the airport for magical sunsets. My favorite...dinning at L'Aberg beside Oak Creek. I'm incredibly sentimental and I love taking photos. The boy and I have hundreds of photos of the various places we've gone. For the big monthaversary (yes, monthaversary), I thought it would be really nice to have them in an album, so that you could hold them in your hands, so that they weren't just on our computers. So that is what we're doing. On Saturday, we got together and went through all of our photos, selecting our favorites and sent them off for printing. Yesterday, Jeff went and picked them up and got a photo album as well. (I'm excited to see it because I wasn't there when he got it!). Today is the day we put them together.

Needless to say, I'm thrilled. That we actually did it. Now all I've left to do is go get a gift.

正當香港有無數既離島我門可以去，而離開新加坡45分鐘船程的印尼巴淡島...是一個新加坡附近的一個低消費的Weekend getaway 好去處!

巴淡島是印尼一萬多個島之中既其中一個，也是最靠近新加坡的一個島嶼. 島上85%都是馬來人，而其它呢，就係中國人. 印尼當然係用印尼盾, $1港紙就對$1175, 當日我同Pauline就變成左百萬富翁!!

Day 1

我們從Harbor Front Ferry Terminal 坐 Batam Fast 的船出發, 大概一小時就到達Batam! 今次我地選襗左Harris Resort，

等開船最好活動就係食食食...有我鍾意飲既Swanson Lemon Tea :P

大概一小後到達 & 空洞洞的Immigration :P
Harris 都好細心, 有專人係 Immigration 幫我地處理入境手續, 唔洗排隊

係碼頭有Coach帶我門去Resort

因為我地一早就到既關係, 間Cabana係未Ready好，所以我同Pauline就搭taxi 去 shopping!
島上有兩大Mall - Mega Mall 或 Nagoya Mall, 其實兩個Mall都差不多....而MegaMall就比較新，所以我同Pauline 係二選一既情況下就揀左MegaMall :P 因為Harris 係無Coach Bus 去Mega Mall (only to Nagoya Mall) Pauline and I took a cab there! It cost us SG$15 dollars. 去緊MegaMall 既時後...開始下起雨來...不過無所謂啦...都係行Indoor Mall je...

Inside the cab and there is not much to sell along side...

去到Mega Mall...其實無乜野行，行慣香港同新加坡D Mall 仲點會鐘意行尼D Mall丫...有陣時真係唔怪得D外國人點解咁鐘意行香港既mall :P
去到第一件事, 就係食 A&W!!! A&W係 HK and SG 都無左, 所以格外吸引!

Yes, just four. I had to restrain myself. The crapcam can only hold twenty of these hi-res(!!!) pictures, and I needed slots free for J&R.

I'm glad I've seen this in person again. I'm certain now that the color doesn't work with a Smart Car. It has to be light and bright!

I'd like to find a red one!
