It is a well documented fact that Obama was a Muslim in Indonesia, was given Islamic training and studied the Koran. Obama was and apparently still is an Indonesian citizen. Obama professes to be a Christian, yet he attended a church, TUCC, that focuses on Black Liberation Theology and promotes anti white, anti semitic agendas. I can find no fruit of Obama being a Christian. The final judgement will be left to God.

I received an email about Muslims that have commited evil acts of terrorism and about Obama being Muslim. I will leave it for the reader to evaluate and judge:

"Stupid is as stupid does- a very good read

I was raised a Christian and I will be a Christian until I die, and that is true of people of all faiths.

These events are actual events from history.

They really happened!!! Do you remember?

1. 1968 Bobby Kennedy was shot and killed by

Muslim male extremist between the ages of 17 and 40.

2. In 1972 at the Munich Olympics, athletes were kidnapped and massacred by

Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.

3. In 1979, the US embassy in Iran was taken over by
Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.

4. During the 1980's a number of Americans were kidnapped in Lebanon by
Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.

5. In 1983, the US Marine barracks in Beirut was blown up by
Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.

6. In 1985 the cruise ship Achille Lauro was hijacked and a 70 year old
American passenger was murdered and thrown overboard in his wheelchair by
Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.

7. In 1985 TWA flight 847 was hijacked at Athens, and a US Navy diver trying to rescue passengers was murdered by

Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.

8. In 1988 , Pan Am Flight 103 was bombed by

Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.

9. In 1993 the World Trade Center was bombed the first time by

Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.

10. In 1998, the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were bombed by

Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.

11. On 9/11/01, four airliners were hijacked; two were used as missiles to
take down the World Trade Centers and of the remaining two, one crashed into
the US Pentagon and the other was diverted and crashed by the passengers.
Thousands of people were killed by

Muslim male extremists between the of 17 and 40.

12. In 2002 the United States fought a war in Afghanistan against

Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.

13. In 2002 reporter Daniel Pearl was kidnapped and murdered by-- you guessed it--

Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.

No, I really don't see a pattern here to justify profiling, do you?

So, to ensure we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent on killing us,
Airport security screeners will no longer be allowed to profile certain people...& nbsp;

Absolutely No Profili ng!

They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline
members of the President's security detail, 85-year old Congressmen
with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winner and former Governor Joe Foss,

But leave Muslim Males between the ages 17 and 40
Alone lest they be guilty of profiling.

According to The Book of Revelation:

The Anti-Christ will be a man, in his 40s, of MUSLIM descent, who will
deceive the nations with persuasive language, and have a
MASSIVE Christ-like appeal....the prophecy says that people will flock to him
and he will promise false hope and world peace, and when he is in power,

He will destroy everything.
And Now:

For the award winning Act of Stupidity

Of all times the People of America want to elect, to the most Powerful
position on the face of the Planet
The Presidency of the United states of America

Muslim Male in his 40s!!

Say what you want, he was born a Muslim (and is still considered a Muslim by his family), to a Muslim father..
His mother remarried, yep another Muslim
so what makes you think she didn't raise him as a Muslim? His African family is Muslim, he attended a Muslim school.
HELLO!!!!!!
Have the American People completely lost their Minds, or just their Power of Reason ???

I'm sorry but I refuse to take a chance on the'unknown' candidate

who will probably appoint as many as 4 Supreme Court Judges.

Let's send this to as many people as we can so that the Gloria Aldreds and
other stupid attorneys along with Federal Justices that want to thwart
common sense, feel ashamed of themselves -- if they have any such sense.

"And it's not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigraant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment, as a way to explain their frustrations."
Barack Obama

"A light will shine through that window, a beam of light will come
down upon you, you will experience an Epiphany...and you will
suddenly realize that you must go to the polls and vote for Obama."
Barack Obama (Obama the Messiah)

"No, no, no Not God Bless America, God damn America."
Jeremiah Wright

John McCain and Barack Obama will be asked questions about their
faith tonight at Saddleback Church. Pastor Rick Warren will ask
the questions. Here are facts regarding Obama's religious background.
The real Religion of Barack Obama

The following quotes are from the book "The Obama Nation" by Jerome Corsi unless otherwise stated:

What Obama has stated about his religion

Obama's 2008 presidential campaign website has a page devoted to proving "Obama has never been a Muslim, and is a committed Christian."

"Barack Obama is not and never has been a Muslim,"

"Obama never prayed in a Mosque. He has never been a Muslim, was not
raised a Muslim, and is a committed Christian who attends the United
Church of Christ."
Obama's Muslim background

"Obama did attend a government run public school in Indonesia and he
did receive Islamic instruction, including study of the Koran."
"Out of the blue, Obama clearly states , "In Indonesia, I has spent
two years`at a Muslim school and two years at a Catholic school.""
""In the Catholic school, when it came time to pray, I would pretend
to close my eyes , then peek around the the room. Nothing happened.
No angels descended. Just a parched old nun and thirty brown children, muttering words.""

"Tine Hahiyary afirmed that barry Soetoro had been registered as a
Muslim and actively took part in the Islamic religious lessons.
"I remembered that Barry studied 'Mengaji' " she told reporters.
Mengaji involves recitation of the Koran, a clear indication Barry did more than just "play" at being Muslim while he attended the public
school."
"When the muezzin sounded the call to prayer, Adi remembered seeing
Lolo and Barry walk together to the makeshift mosque. "His mother
often went to church," Adi told the Times, "but Barry was a Muslim.
I remember him wearing a sarong.""

"He too recalled Barry coming to the prayer room wearing a sarong.
He told Pakota that Obama was "quite religious in Islam, but after
marrying Michelle, he changed his religion.""
"Researching thoroughly the many news investigative reports done on
Obama's Muslim background by the mainstream media in 2007, we even
find confirmation there from Obama's sister that he was Muslim in
Indonesia. "My whole family was Muslim," Maya Soetoro-Ng told the
New York times when interviewed about her early days in Indonesia.
"Most of the people I knew were Muslim.""

"The study of Islam was made mandatory in all Indonesian educational
institutions in the country, including pre primary schools. All
students were required to increase their study of Islam to 4 lessons
a week, some 10 percent of the curriculum, elevating the study of
Islam "to the most important subject in the school curriculum.""

How and why Obama joined TUCC

"In "The Audacity of Hope", Obama reveals that a key factor in his
decision to join Trinity was, somewhat oddly, that he did not
necessarily have to be a believer."

"In clear and direct terms, Obama said his decision to become a
Christian "came about as a choice and not an epiphany.""
"Kellman's explanation of Obama's conversion was pure Alinsky--
community social change is the end, faith is the means. Clearly, for
Kellman and Obama, the ultimate political goal has always remained
the same--to redistribute power and wealth from the haves to the
havenots, as openly articulated by Alinsky at the very beginning of
"Rules for Radicals." Kellman now pursues the goal through the
church, while Obama pursues the goal through politics."

"Now add one more factor: before Obama's baptism at trinity, when he
was nearly thirty years old, there is no other life incident
evidencing he is a Christian. Obama had to know that running for political office, even state office, would be much more difficult to do if voters suspected he was Muslim."
"Yet once Obama became a member of trinity, he had proof he was a
Christian, as he professed to be."

TUCC and black liberation theology
"Deciding to be baptized in Trinity United Church of Christ, Barack
Obama had to comprehend he was joining a church whose principles
were based on the black liberation theology Reverend Wright professes.
If Obama was smart enough to get a Harvard law degree, he was smart enough to understand Trinity Church was and is a black liberation
theology church."
"However, Obama joined up with Wright and Trinity precisely because
Wright's outspoken profession of black liberation theology matched
the radical political ideology Obama himself profesed as a direct
result of the lessons he had learned from his life experience."
"Put simply, black liberation theology reinterprets the biblical history
and teachings of Jesus Christ to advance a revolutionary racial
message."

"Farrakhan was an anti-Semite.Unfortunately, there is justification for
this concern. In a televised interview with Reuters on October 4, 1995,
ten days before that year's scheduled march, Farrakhan said, "Many of
the Jews that owned the homes, the apartments in the black community,
we considered them bloodsuckers because they took from our coumunity
and built their community but didn't offer anything back to our
community. In a speech the previous year, Farrakhan had proclaimed,
"The Jews don't like Farrakhan, so they call me Hitler. Well, that's
a good name. Hitler was a very great name.""
""In 1995, along with other prominent black leaders such as Al Sharpton
and Barack Obama, Farrakhan helped lead the Million Man March on
Washington.""
"What exactly Wright and Farrakhan accomplished in their 1984 visit
to see Qaddafi in Libya has never been disclosed. Judging by the
history of the relationship between the Nation of Islam and Qaddafi,
we can safely speculate that at a minimum the meeting further affirmed
the anti-American views that Black Muslims and black-liberation
theology hold in comon with Libya."
"Wright himself has acknowledged the explosive nature of his visit to
Libya, commenting that Obama's "Jewish support will dry up quicker
than a snowball in hell" once his enemies learn of the 1984 trip he
made with Farrakhan."

Why Obama left TUCC
"Obama needed a Christian church in order to succeed in Chicago
politics. He selected Trinity because it best matched his personal
and political feelings. Then he dumped the entire relationship when
it got in the way of his presidential ambitions."
Obama's actions and associations
"Obama recited for Kristof the opening lines of the Arabic call to
prayer. The opening lines of the Adhan, the Muslim call to prayer,
translated, read as follows, with each line repeated twice:

Allah is supreme! Allah is supreme!
Allah is supreme! Allah is supreme!
I witness there is no God but Allah.
I witness there is no God but Allah.
I witness that muhammad is his prophet...

Kristof said Obama recited the prayer "with a first rate accent.""

"We have to ask whether Obama, by supporting Odinga openly in Kenya,
lent his name also to endorse Odinga's leftist politics and Odinga's
alliance with radical Muslims pushing Islam in Kenya."
"On March 30, 2001, Obama was the only Illinois senator who rose to
speak against a bill that would have protected babies who survive
late term labor induced abortions."

"“I suspect that Senator Obama’s after the fact defense of his votes against the Illinois bill were nothing more than political pandering for votes of the worst kind. Women can vote and a fetus can’t. It’s kind of like his statement that if he had been in the Senate when the Iraq war resolution was taken up he would have definitely voted against it. His words appear only to be, “Just Words”, words for political advantage.”"
http://zachjonesishome.wordpress.com/2008/08/02/obama-would-evidently-throw-the-baby-out-with-the-bathwater/
"Although Odinga professes to be an Anglican Christian, concerns even
today continue to circulate, especially among Kenya's Christian
leaders, that Odinga intends to pursue an undeclared radical Islamic
political agenda."

"Jonsson (NY Sun) sees the recent events in Kenya as signaling the
resurgence of Islam in Kenya, a process likely to sped up now that
Odinga has forced himself into a power sharing arrangement with Kibaki.
He argues we are witnessing the growth of a leftist/Marxist alliance
with Islam that is striving, under the banner of "Change", to spread
the growth of Islamic states worldwide. Jonsson also sees a direct tie
between the "Change" themes of the Obama presidential campaign in the
United States and the senator's support of Odinga'a Islamic goals in
East Africa. "Real Change for Africa" was perhaps not coincidentally
the theme of Raila Odinga's 2007 presidential campaign."

Consider the Obama associations:

Jeremiah Wright
Louis Farrakhan
Raila Odinga
Tony Rezko
William Ayers
Lawrence Lessig (gay Jesus video)

Does this sound like a Christian life to you?

The reader of this article can decide for themselves whether or
not Obama has lived his life as a Christian. Deeds not just words.
God will be the ultimate judge.

However,
In the spirit of Jesus overturning the tables and running the
money changers out of the temple, we exercise righteous
indignation at Obama for invoking Christianity for his own purposes and not embracing it for the good of his fellow man.

Jerome Corsi has been persecuted for revealing the truth about Obama.
God bless Jerome Corsi

August 7, 2008, was the tenth anniversary of the US Embassy bombing

August 7, 2008, was the tenth anniversary of the US Embassy bombing
in Kenya by Al-Qaeda operatives. Raila Odinga, the leftist, marxist
leaning cousin of Barack Obama spoke at the ceremony commemorating
the US Embassy attack. Fazul Abdullah Mohammed is believed to be the
mastermind of the first Al-Qaida attack on a US target.

Consider the following:

"According to the F.B.I., Mr. Fazul headed the Kenya cell of Al Qaeda, the terror network founded by Osama bin Laden, an exiled Saudi businessman. It says Mr. Fazul rented the room where the bomb was assembled and drove the white pickup that guided it to the embassy."

http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=980CE1DD1F38F935A35753C1A96E958260
"The bombings on Aug. 7, 1998, were the first major al-Qaida attack on U.S. targets. The alleged mastermind, Fazul Abdullah Mohammed, has been on the run for years; he apparently escaped a police raid on the Kenyan coast last weekend."

"On Thursday, Prime Minister Raila Odinga said Mohammed's recent escape shows the country remains at risk."

http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory?id=5531401

"We must leave no stone unturned in fighting the scourge of terrorism. But at the same time, unless we provide just solutions to political crises such as those in the Middle East, new extremists will continue be created."

"This weekend, police on the Kenyan coast said they narrowly missed catching one of them, Fazul Abdullah Mohammed, after he slipped back over the border for medical treatment in Malindi."

http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/L7107743.htm
What does Odinga mean by "just solutions"?

Fazul Mohammed has been seen in Kenya for many years. Is he receiving tips from someone in government?

The NY Times has a series of articles about Fazul Abdullah Mohammed.
Read more here:
http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/people/m/fazul_abdullah_mohammed/index.html

The Petition to Impeach Senator Obama site has an addendum that
addresses Obama's ties to Kenya and Raila Odinga as well as Obama's
visit to Kenya in 2006. This is from the petition:

Whereas: As a US Senator, Barack Obama violated the stated intention of
his 2006 Official Government Visa to Africa by publicly propagandizing
for his cousin, Railla Odinga against the US democratic ally of Kenya.
Whereas the stated “mission” of Senator Obama’s Official Visa, according
to the Kenya Office of Public Communications, was to “nurture relations
between the Continent and the United States” he, instead, made public
protest before Kenya citizens to rally against their leadership,
invoking a need for “Change!” and accusing this US allied nation of
“corruption.” In Official Protest of Mr. Obama’s passport abuse and
misconduct, Kenya’s government cited his “extremely disturbing
statements on issues which it is clear, he was very poorly informed, and
on which he chose to lecture the Government and the people of Kenya on
how to manage our country.” Whereas, furthermore, there is no public
record of any sanctions or reprimand by the US Congress of Senator
Obama’s passport violation or campaigning on foreign soil against a US
ally, history has since recorded the broadspread destruction of Kenya’s
economy and large scale loss of life as a result of the violence
instigated by Odinga’s ODM campaign there.

Apparently Obama lied about his intentions for the visit to Kenya, campaigned for his leftist, marxist, Islamic leaning cousin, Raila
Odinga and meddled in the internal affairs of Kenya. Here is the
official response from the Government of Kenya:

http://www.communication.go.ke/media.asp?id=284

Jerome Corsi, PHD from Harvard, has written a new book about Obama,
"The Obama Nation." Mr. Corsi devotes much of his book to exposing
the real Obama, his liberal left wing agenda and involvement in
politics in Kenya. Here are some exerpts from the book:

"He too recalled Barry coming to the prayer room wearing a sarong. He
told Poskota that Obama was "quite religious in Islam, but after
marrying Michelle, he changed his religion.""

"Obama needed a Christian church in order to succeed in Chicago
politics. He selected Trinity because it best matched his personal
and political feelings. Then he dumped the entire relationship when
it got in the way of his presidential ambitions."

"Raila Odinga's politics, like the politics of his father, Odinga Odinga,
are on the far left. Raila Odinga was educated at the Technical
University in Magdeburg in east Germany, where he graduated in 1970
with a degree in mechanical engineering. There he heard Fidel Castro
lecture and he named his first born son Fidel. On July 31, 1982, junior
military men of the Luo tribe in the Kenyan Air Force led a coup
against President Daniel arap Moi, but it failed. For his suspected
involvement in the coup, Raila Odinga was arrested, charged with
treason, and incarcerated without trial for nine years. He was released
in February 1988 and then rearrested in September 1988, this time for
involvement with the clandestine Kenya Revolutionary Movement and for
facilitating travel to Libya for Kenyans seeking to get military
training under Colonel Muammar Qaddafi."

* Note * We have 3 people close to Obama with ties to Qaddafi and Libya. Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan and Raila Odinga.

"Obama visited Kenya while President Kibaki was locked in a presidential
election contest with Raila Odinga. During his visit, the Kibaki
administration objected that Odinga was using Obama's visit to win
votes. Obama's repeated public appearances with Odinga and his almost
daily criticism of the Kibaki government added to the Kibaki
administration's dismay at how the U.S. Senator conducted himself in
their country."

"The Channel 2 news team also interviewed on camera Kenyan government
spokesman Alfred Mutua, who accused Obama of meddling inappropriately
in Kenyan presidential politics. Mutua said politely but pointedly
that "I think Obama has to look critically where he is receiving his
advice from. Just because somebody somewhere wants to run for
president, and he is using Senator Obama as his stooge, as his
puppet, to be able to get where he wants to get.""

"What appears documented by Kenyan newspaper and television news reports is that Raila Odinga, representing the Orange Democratic Movement, or ODM, and Sheikh Abdullah Abdi, the chairman of the National Muslim
Leaders Forum, or NAMLEF, signed an agreement on August 29, 2007."

"In return, Odinga promised that within six months of becoming president
of Kenya he would "re-write the Constitution of Kenya to recognize
Shari'a as the only true law sanctioned by the Holy Quran for Muslim
declared regions."

"Real Change for Africa" was perhaps not coincidentally
the theme of Raila Odinga's 2007 presidential campaign."

with the extreme left wing of Kenyan politics, going back to the overt
communism of Odinga Odinga. Odinga's current party, the Orange
that stops short of being openly communist."

"We have to ask whether Obama, by supporting Odinga openly in Kenya,
lent his name also to endorse Odinga's leftist politics and Odinga's
alliance with radical Muslims pushing Islam in Kenya."

We were urged to include an addendum to the petition regarding
Obama's 2006 trip to Kenya, his support of leftist Raila Odinga
and his meddling in the internal affairs of Kenya. Below is the
petition addendum followed by documention on Obama and his Kenyan
ties:

Here is the official Kenyan Government response:

http://www.communication.go.ke/media.asp?id=284

Jerome Corsi has written a new book, "Obama Nation." Mr. Corsi devotes quite a bit of the book to Obama and his ties to Kenya and leftist Raila Odinga. Make sure you pick up a copy of this book and share it with your friends. Here are some exerpts that will shed light on why we chose to include the addendum:

** Our note ** Remember Jeremiah Wright and Louis Farrakhan's trip to Libya.

"We have to ask whether Obama, by supporting Odinga openly in Kenya,
lent his name also to endorse Odinga's leftist politics and Odinga's
alliance with radical Muslims pushing Islam in Kenya."

"By supporting Odinga, Senator Obama is also seen in Kenya as siding
with the extreme left wing of Kenyan politics, going back to the overt
communism of Odinga Odinga. Odinga's current party, the Orange
Democratic Movement, or ODM, is a leftist-socialist political party
that stops short of being openly communist."

"After the December 27, 2007, presidential vote, Raila Odinga charged
he had been denied the presidency by voter fraud.....Odinga's claim
led to widespread fighting that killed more than a thousand people
in the weeks after the election and left more than 350,000 Kenyans
displaced."

"Christian missionaries reported that more than three hundred Christian
churches were severely damaged or destroyed in the wave of violence
that swept the country, but mosques were left undisturbed."

"Another horrific report came from the Telegraph in London. Members of
President Kibaki's Kikuyu tribe were attacked in Nairobi slums by
ethnic groups, including Luo youth and men who engaged in gang rapes
of women and gang sodomy of boys as young as five years old."

"Although Odinga professes to be an Anglican Christian, concerns even
today continue to circulate, especially among Kenya's Christian
leaders, that Odinga intends to pursue an undeclared radical Islamic
political agenda."

There are some strange points on this video. If America is a dictatorship, then why isn't Obama -instead of going through the normal election procedure - just staging a coup, like his ideological brother, Hitler, or any of the other socialist dictators?

What Qadhafi leaves out is that dictatorships don't exist in republican forms of government, neither do they exist in democracies.

What a twisted reality this guy shares with that of people like Farrakhan...who received his message about Reagan's plan about Libya from little green men in a spaceship.

	“Bhutto Assassinated.”
To a current follower of the news, that may be a simple, straig

	"Bhutto Assassinated."

To a current follower of the news, that may be a simple, straightforward, headline.

But, to me, it brought forth a complex set of feelings and memories.

I grew up in Karachi, in the early 70's. We would drive by the Bhutto residence in Clifton almost every day, en route to my aunt's house at Sea View apartments on the ocean. My aunt's late husband had been Director administering the Pakistani space and upper atmospheric research organization (SUPARCO) at that time.

It was during that time, just entering my teen years, that I had the chance to meet and see both Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto (Benazir's late father) and Libyan dictator Muammar Qaddafi (Gaddafi/Qadhafi) during their visit to Karachi. This was around the time of the Islamic Summit that Zulfi Bhutto, then Prime Minister of Pakistan, had pulled off.

In more recent years I have met and seen charismatic people, one on one, or in group settings. But, even comparing people with awesome personalities, from Bill Clinton and Colin Powell, to Steve Jobs and others, no one has exuded charisma and sheer human magnetism as Bhutto, and even Qaddafi, did back then.

My late Mother's best friend (like a sister to her really) also lived in a house behind the Bhutto residence, so the Bhutto name and family was quite "visible" to us going about our day to day lives. Even as the megalomaniac that Zulfiqar Bhutto was, there was none of the modern-day security cordon around his house - as people like Musharaff and even his lowly minions can't seem to live without.

Bhutto was busy charming the Pakistani public (while destroying the economy through socialist policies), and his younger son was being groomed to take over from him some day. Benazir was a character somewhat on the political sidelines at that time.

As a young teenager, I adored Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, and scorned the religious political parties that were out to oust him.

Like all great leaders, what brought down Bhutto was not the brilliance or strength of his opponents, but his own hunger for power, pride and greed. He rigged an election, that he would have easily won anyway. That set in motion events that would lead to his eventual overthrow - by his own handpicked General Zia-ul-Haq.

Bhutto had thought Zia was a puppet, but Zia was one of the most cunning people I ever met. Not only did he overthrow Bhutto, hang him for murder, but went on to rule for 11 years.

My first meeting with General Zia was as a student at Aitchison College, Lahore in the 1977-78 timeframe. He was the Chief Guest at Aitchison's Founder's Day annual event. Along with many others, I too had created a science project for the exhibition at that time. It was a very elementary Lie Detector Test device. It consisted of some strands of wiring wrapped around two wooden handles that a user had to grasp. As they answered, the theory was that the sweaty palms, caused by telling a lie would change the resistance of the device, making a small electrical ammeter show a deflection.

Sure enough, Zia stopped by our booth and made it to my desk. I recall how much more repulsive he was in person, even more than in his photographs. Those droopy eyes of a weak calf, that insincere laugh, that ugly visage. I was not ready to be a political prisoner (at least then) so I kept my disgust to myself.

But, it did not stop me from being a smarty-pants. Zia took the lie detector test. I am probably the only person in the world who ever gave a sitting President of a country or a dictator a lie detector test! I asked him his name and what day it was, to calibrate" the device. He played along. I asked him a couple of questions and he answered truthfully and the meter showed no deflection. Finally, I asked him, "Will you end martial law and hold elections?"

He answered, "Yes." The ammeter literally jumped off the scale and a light came on the console, "LIE". We all laughed, but deep in my heart, even as a 15 year old, I knew Pakistani democracy would be shedding tears for years to come.

During that time period, Bhutto's main political heir, his younger son, died in mysterious circumstances - a suspected victim of poisoning. His older son then tried to grab the mantle, but made things worse for himself by orchestrating a terrible hijacking that backfired on his reputation. That opened the door for Benazir Bhutto to become the family's political dynasty leader --- though not without feuding for a long time with he mother, Zulfiqar Bhutto's widow, Nusrat Bhutto.

I had the chance to meet General Zia several times over the years - and could not stand the man. I despised him for how he had raped the name of Islam (some at the behest of his American government bosses) to create a fundamentalist movement, to help create fervor against the Soviets in Afghanistan. He also used the name of Islam to crush the liberal Pakistani society into an intolerant one, where the tiny fraction of zealous fanatics could hold a whole nation hostage to their version of 1400 year old laws.

In an attempt to crush the Bhutto family's strength in the province of Sindh, he and his henchmen of the ISI also created yet another Cancer in Pakistan - the vile and murderous MQM, or Muhajir Qaumi Movement. The goal of this organization was to terrorize Karachi, and weaken the People's Party. The things this organization did to its victims would make Adolf Hitler and his beastly friends shudder in fear. Yes, that was what America's friend, General Zia, was up to in Pakistan.

As a student leader, Chief Organizer of the largest independent students organization in Pakistan, called QSF (Quaid-e-Azam Students Federation) at the University of Engineering and Technology, in Lahore, I was among those who bore the brunt of this out of control Islami Jamiat Taliba (a militant student organization run by the fundamentalist, anti-democracy, pro-Zia, pro-Taliban Jamate Islami).

I met Zia once again, but very briefly - when he was Chief Guest at an annual event of my engineering school. Needless to say, this visit was arranged by the Islami-Jamiat who then ran the students union.

After one particular incident this axis of Zia and the Jamiat became even more clear. One day Jamiat students were arrested shooting at my party workers and the police raid led to about 40 of their people being arrested with hand grenades and rifles to use on my party workers. As I left my apartment that night for my own safety, I literally ran into them being brought back to their dorm rooms by state vehicles less than 8 hours after their arrests.

I barely made it out. They went inside and ransacked everything. They destroyed my dorm room as well as others. My belongings were burnt and everything of value, including supposedly un-Islamic expensive audio music systems, cameras and electronics were stolen. My copy of the Quran, given to me by my Mother in 1977, was tossed on the floor by the Jamiat thugs. They just wanted blood and loot. The Quran, with its message of peace, was just an object to toss aside.

So, much that I wanted the Soviets out of Afghanistan, I also knew what price we in Pakistan were paying. These militants, along with 6 MILLION illiterate and unlawful Afghans flooded the streets of Pakistan, bringing with them prostitution, drugs, and assault rifles for sale to anyone. Drugs and internal strife, crime and violence, tyranny and fundamentalism, were all Zia's and Ronald Reagan's gifts to Pakistan.

When the Soviets were defeated, as it is wont to do, America picked up its bags and left. Zia tried to cling to power, thinking he could stave off America's now apparent interest in democracy in Pakistan. By now the US was happy to see Benazir Bhutto return from exile.

I was no fan of Benazir Bhutto, whom I only saw as running on her father's legacy, with nothing to show for her own work. Her two times as Prime Minister proved me correct. But, at that time, I was happy to see someone coming to challenge a dictator, Zia, whose days were numbered, but who seemed intent on staying in power.

Around that time I met General Zia once again, at a State dinner with some newspaper owners. I was there with the late Mir KhaliI-ur-Rehman, the Pakistani equivalent of Rupert Murdoch. Mir sahib was the owner and founder of the Jang Group of Newspapers and legend and an institution in his own lifetime. When he introduced me to to Zia, General Zia showed no one was safe from his and his henchmen's eyes. He said to me, "Oh, I know you, I am familiar with your work."

The background to that comment was Benazir. I was then working directly with MKR's younger son, Mir Shakil-ur-Rehman, the now owner/Chairman of the Jang Group of Newspapers (and the well known and currently blocked GEO TV network).

Upon BB's return from her exile, I was able to have one of the Jang photographers get me color photos of Benazir's arrival at Lahore Airport - just in time for me to write a quick article and put the items on a flight to Karachi.

The materials arrived in Karachi in time for my late friend, and editor of MAG Weekly, Wahab Siddiqui, to run the photos as the cover story of MAG (literally hours after Benazir had landed) with the article I submitted.

Some things never change. Just like the corrupt dictator Musharaff is going after the media, surely enough, back then, I got a visit at home that night from "security personnel" who were there to ask how and why the pictures of Benazir's arrival were front cover story news in Mag Weekly the next day.

I was lucky that I was not treated to the Zia Special as many of my fellow journalists were treated back then (nails pulled, beaten, tortured) but it was a good reminder that I still lived in a dictatorship. Zia's later comment about knowing my work showed that even a "hobbyist" journalist was not beyond the range of his radar screens.

Eventually, thankfully for Pakistan, General Zia died in a plane crash --- as dictators not needed by the USA anymore have a strange habit of doing. Benazir came into power -- and squandered a historic opportunity to create her own legacy, do good in Pakistan, or improve the lot of women in that region.

Instead, she watched her corrupt and vile husband become "Mister Ten Percent" who took that amount in kickbacks on every government project. Around that time I had the honor of becoming the founder of Internet and email in Pakistan. My neighbor and I had co-founded and co-owned the .PK Pakistan TLD (top level domain). Apparently, Zaradari, at that time was trying to corner the market on all electronic media, from FM and TV station licenses to paging (anyone remember beepers?) and email. My neighbor and I had to stave off a great deal of pressure to relinquish control and ownership of the .PK TLD but were able to resist. Eventually, the issue fizzled away, as did Zardari. He had bigger problems to deal with.

Thanks to his corruption, and Benazir's lack of leadership, she got thrown out of power and the game of musical chairs for leading Pakistan began.

Nawaz Sharif, another person I had known personally for a long time, became Prime Minister. From someone whom you could play Cricket with in Lahore, he became a power hungry maniac too. He had been an insignificant local politician, whom General Zia had groomed and pushed into leadership. In particular, Jang newspaper in Lahore, and our mutual friend Mir Shakil-ur-Rehman, had a lot to giving him prominent coverage making him popular. I recall that Nawaz Sharif had a really favorable news story and interview appear in Jang Lahore, with a really great set of photos (taken by my old friend and colleague at that time, Abdul Qayyum). I was with Mir Shakil when Nawaz Sharif called and requested if he could be given the original slides of those pictures - that is how good the photos were.

Shakil gave the originals to me and I drove to Nawaz Sharif's home in Model Town, Lahore, that night. He invited me in, and could not get enough of looking at his pictures. He was practically drooling. His exact words to me were, "Imran sahib, please thank Shakil sahib for me and tell him, 'I was nothing and today you made me a national leader'."

Of course, when Nawaz Sharif became Prime Minister, he did the usual "elected dictator" things Pakistani heads of state do. He squeezed Benazir and her supporters. He and his supporters made more money (but, to their credit, at least some great things and development projects took place in Pakistan in his tenure). Of course, the expected irony and twist was how today's populist candidate defending Pakistan's judiciary from attacks by Musharaff, himself had his supporters attack the courts and judges to have his way. Even more ironic, the same person, today defending media freedoms, who had asked me to thank Shakil for making him a leader had, back then, squeezed Shakil and Jang any time news coverage was not to his own liking.

Such is the guaranteed, hypocritical, "Do as I say, not as I do" way of Pakistani politicians... until, of course, they are out of power, and want to be your best friends again.

In that, Benazir Bhutto was no exception. She had been an ineffective, corrupt, weak, personality-driven head of state. She sold out Pakistan's interests in many areas, to please foreign powers. She had been a marked woman for many of those actions a decade ago but most of today's media reports seem to ignore the background of why the militants (and some ISI people) wanted her head for a long time.

I was highly opposed to her being helped back into a side role with Musharaff in power that the Bush government was working on this year. I found it shameful that our leaders in Washington had no desire for true democracy in Pakistan. They just wanted to ensure that the dictator Musharaff stayed at the helm.

They did not care Bhutto was ineffective. They did not care she was corrupt. They did not care she would be a figurehead. All they wanted was a show of democracy. So much for sincerely wanting democracy in Pakistan. I wrote highly critical articles about Benazir's shamelessly jumping into bed with Musharaff. But, I was horrified when she was targeted in a mass killing suicide bombing a few weeks ago, and she had my fullest support to have the right to live and move and campaign freely in Pakistan.

Alas, even critic's good wishes, and friends' prayers, are no match for violent axis of evil when foreign influence like the CIA, black ops like ISI and pure vile murderous bastards like AlQaeda/Taliban are cooperating/competing with each other in a dance that only brings death to innocent victims, and more slush funds to them.

I knew Benazir would be a target. Much that I did not want her in power as a fellow cohort of Musharaff, I also did not want Musharaff to get away with having her killed, directly or indirectly. But, unfortunately, that is how it was going to play out.

The irony that brings the story full circle is that while Benazir's father, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, was not assassinated literally, as he was afraid he would be, he had written a book, "If I Am Assassinated".

Benazir never wrote a book of that name, but her date with destiny was in the realization of her father's book title.... perhaps her last words may have been... "I am assassinated."

May God have mercy on her soul, and many who died alongside her. And, may God protect Pakistan and Pakistanis from the evil and beastly bastards that befell Benazir Bhutto. Amen.

It is amazing how after a few years of lying low and really not trying to instigate too much, how the perspective on Middle Eastern leaders can change.

It used to be that Qaddafi was one of the loudest critics of the United States and needed to be taken out, while it "may" be true that we stuck a missile or two up his nose made him realize that we meant business, he finally got the point.

So he kept quiet, and merely continued to keep his own people under the boot of repression instead of trying to be a unitary figure for the Arabic world.

Now he goes to France, which is usually the first to capitulate to anyones demands, a look at their "distinguished" military history is proof of that. Though it must be said that at least one Frenchman has shown signs of formulating spinal tissue.

Rama Yade the French Secretary of State for Human Rights, said, "Colonel Qaddafi must understand that our country is not a doormat for which any leader, terrorist or not, can come to wipe the blood of his crimes off his feet." I wonder if Rama is really British?

So we see the truly great mishap that was the judgment of Saddam Huissen, he could have just done what he was told laid low, and everything would have blown over, instead of blowing up.

We would still have a military to threaten Iran with, as well as the intelligence community not needing to publish its reports the same time that the President receives them. So the carrot and stick approach may indeed have had a chance to succeed.

Bin Laden may have been found, and the Taliban eradicated, Pakistan attempting to work out their political differences in a more mild mannered approach, what with the very large and very victorious US army ready to rid the tribal lands of their unlawful opium activities.

What a world it could have been, Congress would have remained in Republican hands, and a Constitutional Ban on Gay Marriage could have been passed along with the repeal of the 22nd amendment abolishing Presidential terms.

Bush could have been our Lord and Savior, while Mt. Rushmore was refurbished to show the faces of Reagan, and his holy prophet George W the Second. Taxes low, oil still high, corporate greed seen as the salvation of our sins.

Oh to be in that world. Where creativity is limited to smear campaigns and half spoken truths, we have not ourselves to blame, but that evil Saddam, for performing the Qaddafi Duck.

In Overture to Iran, Qaddafi Declares North Africa Shi'ite and Calls for Establishment of New Fatimid State

Qaddafi backs what appears to be, especially in the wake of the British hostages affair, the strong horse. From MEMRI:

On March 31, 2007, Libyan leader Mu'ammar Qaddafi called, in a speech in Niger to Tuareg tribal leaders , for the establishment of a second Shi'ite Fatimid state in North Africa, after the model of the 10th-13th century empire that ruled North Africa, Egypt, and parts of the Fertile Crescent. In his speech, Qaddafi denounced the division of Muslims into Sunni and Shi'ite as a colonialist plot, and rebuked the Arab League members for "hating Iran."At the beginning of the month, on March 1, 2007 – the eve of the anniversary of the coup that brought the Libyan Free Officers to power – Qaddafi gave a speech in which he denied the existence of a non-Arab Berber people (this also being a colonialist plot), provoking protest among Berbers and supporters of minority rights in the Middle East and North Africa.

The following are excerpts from Qaddafi's speeches:

"Colonialism… Has Begun to Group the Arabs Against Iran and Iran Against the Arabs"

"… Today there is a divide [in the Islamic world] that we must acknowledge, and we must know who is deepening it. Perhaps it is colonialism, the enemy of Islam, the enemy of the Arabs, the enemy of the Persians, that is deepening it…

"They have divided Islam into two Islams, and there came to be Shi'ite Islam and Sunni Islam. This is a forbidden innovation [bid'a]… When did Muhammad say: 'I have brought you Shi'ite Islam and Sunni Islam?...

"As a consequence of this, they have now begun to group the Arabs against Iran and Iran against the Arabs, and then Shi'ites against Sunnis and Sunnis against Shi'ites.

"Are we Muslims, or are we Shi'ites and Sunnis?! For whose benefit is this? It is for the benefit of the 'other' that we are speaking about, for the benefit of the enemy, for the benefit of colonialism.

[...]

"The Fatimid state arose in the beginning of the 10th century, and it formed an umbrella over North Africa, and under its banner all of the tribal, denominational, political, and ethnic differences fused, and they all became one single Fatimid identity, which lasted 260 years and extended as far as the Arab East.

[...]

"Now people say to us that the Shi'ites are in Iran and that Shi'ite means Persians, and Sunni means Arabs. This is a lie. This is deceit. Those who say this are ignoramuses who do not know history.

"To the contrary, the first Shi'ite state arose in North Africa. The Fatimid state was the first Shi'ite state…"

"In North Africa… go anywhere and ask them about their customs and traditions. They are all Shi'ite customs and traditions.

"[They include] the celebration of the 'Ashura, the sorrow on the 'Ashura and the remembrance of the 'Ashura and our lord [sayyidna] 'Ali; the very extensive stories about our lord 'Ali, and being the party of [tashayyu' l-] our lord 'Ali.

"[The North Africans] do not know Mu'awiya ['Ali's rival and the founder of the Umayyad dynasty]. From Egypt to the Atlantic Ocean, there is not a single person named Mu'awiya. They are all named 'Ali, Fatima, Khadija, Hassan, Hussein, etc.

[...]

"When we come to religious authority… have [people] not gotten themselves into a mess and said that the Sunnis are against the Shi'ites and the Arabs against the Persians? Who holds to this view? It is the foreign occupation and the Zionist settlement that brought this.

[...]

"North Africa is Arab and Shi'ite… The Shi'ite Fatimid state arose in North Africa, and not in Iran. We want to revive it once again. We direct a renewed call to all of the forces in the first Fatimid state to revive [it in] a modern, second Fatimid state – on the condition that it be free of all of the sectarian conflicts and [the debate about] the Imamate and [religious] rule [hakimiyya] and the sophistry of old…

Read it all.

[I]t is a constant failing of the disarmament lobby to try to ascribe values of reasonableness, tole

[I]t is a constant failing of the disarmament lobby to try to ascribe values of reasonableness, tolerance, goodwill and peaceful intent to states under the control of despots, fanatics and dictators.

Thus Julian Lewis lambasts the disarmament lobby. Only threat of deadly overwhelming retaliation could stop a despot launching a massive attack upon us.

How strong is Lewis' point? Hitler, trapped in his Berlin bunker as the Red Army approached, thought the failure of his ambitions indicted the whole of Germany and that the punishment should be destruction. If he had had nuclear weapons at this point he would have launched them, and welcomed the retaliation: this is incontestable.

So the deterrent doesn't work against really mad Dictators. And against the more reasonable Dictator, most interested in screwing over his own population to keep the country's debt payments flowing (the sort entertained by Ronald Reagan in the 1980s), there's no need for a deterrence. What can we say about the middle ground?

The sort of dictator who would be deterred by Trident will be:

- interested in conquest

- seriously thinking about using nuclear weapons

- oblivious to public health risks of his people should they be downwind of the proposed target

- not amenable to rational persuasion that launching the nukes in the first place would not really be cricket

- concerned for his self-preservation (or that of his compatriots).

A 1980s biography of Qaddafi that I read implied that he might be such a person. According to the author of the biog, Qaddafi sent officials around the world to acquire a nuclear weapon without a clear idea of just how serious a weapon it would be, and was rebuffed. It was claimed, if I remember the book right, that he was thinking of nuking Israel (though it may have been Egypt).

So perhaps here we have our candidate. It is a very serious matter to impute such ignorance and such evil intent to another human without hard evidence (Hitler, at least, put his auto-genocidal thoughts on record). The question is: if Qaddafi had got a bomb, would it only have been the thought of nuclear retaliation that would have stopped him using it. His diplomatic record throughout the 80s is diabolical, but can (maybe) be read as a rational pursuit of extremely sectoral interests in Libya - and if it is rational, then perhaps rational considerations about retailation would have stopped him using it.

The fact that he didn't get the Bomb, though, is either testimony to the NPT, which we would be effectively be giving up if we replace Trident; or testimony to the fact that the groups he approached to get the bomb were so convinced of his irrationality that they thought that the thought of nuclear retaliation would not deter him. If the former, then that tells in favour of losing Trident but and strengthening the NPT; if the latter, then we've not yet found a real candidate of someone evil enough to think of using the bomb, but rational enough to be scared off by the consequences.

Which other mad dictators should we consider instead?
