The Gray Lady is reporting that General Motors and Chrysler have been in talks about a possible merger for the past month, that "negotiations are not certain to produce a deal," "would most likely still take weeks to work out" and that two unnamed sources say that the chances of the merger going through are "50-50." Obfuscate much?

With GM's stock prices ending the week below $5 a share and Cerberus – the private equity firm that owns Chrysler – grasping at the flimsiest of straws, including continued talks with Nissan/Renault, a merger of unequals is two parts disturbing and one part intriguing.

Cerberus' people haven't been returning phone calls and the only comment offered to the NYT from the General's spokesperson, Tony Cervone, was, "Without referencing that specific rumor, as we've often said at GM officials routinely discuss issues of mutual interest with other automakers." Broad, unclear and exactly what we'd expect.

The merger of GM and Chrysler would put Cerberus in charge of an "unspecified equity stake" in the corporation, making the two-headed General-Chrysler (or Chrysler Motors?) the world's largest automaker, controlling over 35 percent of the U.S. vehicle market, causing rifts among brand faithful and offering more potential (vehicle) cannibalization than the Donner Party. Not to mention both automakers' labor contracts, supplier dealers and slipping market share. Shocked? Don't be. We give it a snowball's chance on the Sun.

If it does happen, let's hope it doesn't look like this..

ONE: Went to Jersey yesterday to get the radio in my car fixed.  (Random buttons would stop working at random intervals.)  They gave me a refurbished one which is exactly like the old one, except that it only has 18 presets on the radio instead of 24.  Now, there are not even 24 radio stations in the Hudson Valley, let alone 24 I would want to preset, and I never used more than the first 6 presets at any time.  But man, I'm still pissed that I've been given an inferior replacement! I liked to keep presets 19-24 on New York City stations, just in case.

2: Anyone else scared shitless that our country and economy is FUCKED?  I've got nothing else to say about that.

III: There's an item on the local news today that for the first time in history, Democratic voter registration has outnumbered Republican registration in Dutchess County.  (Fun fact: in the four times he ran for President, Roosevelt never carried his home county!  And they even made his mug the mascot of Hyde Park.)  The radio report says that the influx of Democrats has a lot to do with former New York City moving up here.  I love being a small part of an important and heartwarming news item.

Cuatro: A friend of mine from kickball shares the same name as a friend of mine from high school.  The kickball friend and his girlfriend had a bit of a break-up on Wednesday.  Yesterday I saw my parents in New Jersay and I was telling my mom that I had gone dancing Wednesday night with the kickball friend to try and cheer him up.  She seemed really upset as I was telling her some of the details of what happened.  Then she made a joke that she was the most upset that he wouldn't be able to fix her computer, at which point I said, "Mom, do you think I'm talking about The Man of Action?  Becuase I'm talking about Pantsless."  To that she said, "Oh, THANK GOODNESS!  I was just so upset about that.  I feel much better now. ...  I mean, I'm sorry for your kickball friend.  I'm sorry for any pain in the world. But I'm so relieved that nothing bad happened to The Man of Action."

Fin: Two of my kickball friends are getting married later today!  So I took the day off work to celebrate their love.  I'm going to the wedding stag, and I'm stoked about that, because I'm going to dance off my pants off.  Except I'll be wearing a dress.

Maybe you saw the recent commercials for the new Chevrolet Malibu. Is the person that I've seen show a couple bank robbers running from the bank with a lot of money and jumping on their escape in the car - an old Chevrolet Malibu. Before the villains can be done, even if they escape the police showed up and surround the car. On the robbers put his hand up as police walk past all the storm is within the bank. In 2008 Chevy Malibu also looks a bit like Acura TL to me, especially as from the rear.

Is there a noticeable difference between the 2008 Chevy Malibu and the previous version of this car. He has more energy than before. It also seems to have a smoother ride than the 2005 Chevy Malibu that I am used to driving in. Overall, it appears as a frame of the car has a better quality of the material, to the time around. On the front of the 2008 Chevy Malibu has a sportier look the same. This may be the reason why the 2008 Chevy Malibu seems corner and just generally better manage curves better than the 2005 Chevy Malibu that I previously was in. It also has a classier look like that before, so it looks much more expensive than the modest price tag.

Uranus represents the rebel and the humanitarian. It’s the higher octave of Mercury, representing higher ideals. It's the archetype for creative, original ideas and thinking outside the box, also for rebelling against limitations, insisting on freedom and being humane toward others.

Most of us are struggling with issues regarding our homes and the structure of the institutions on which we've depended: banks, schools, government, etc.  We do need inventive solutions, higher ideals, creative grass roots endeavors and restructuring of our systems and the way we live.

This oppositional vibration can play out in our daily routines as well. It’s important to pay close attention when driving, be aware of what we’re doing when multitasking and in general be alert. “Expect the unexpected” is the current watch phrase. We may all of a sudden find ourselves opposing an authority figure like a traffic cop (oh, I hate when that happens), or school principal, supervisor, boss, coach, parent, spouse, etc.  Or maybe we are the authority figure dealing with that no good slacker underling (a little dramatic license).

Cassini Flyby Of Saturn Moon Offers Insight Into Solar System History

NASA's Cassini spacecraft is scheduled to fly within 16 miles of Saturn's moon Enceladus on Oct. 9 and measure molecules in its space environment that could give insight into the history of the solar system.

[...] Enceladus is Saturn's sixth-largest moon, orbiting within the planet's outermost ring. It is approximately 313 miles in diameter.

In this flyby, Cassini will be close enough to Enceladus to identify individual molecules in the moon's space environment, including ions and isotopes.

[...] The atoms around Enceladus are expected to hold clues to the past because they come from interior regions that have changed little since the moon was formed. Geysers near the moon's south pole spew water and other molecules from the satellite's interior. Because of Enceladus' weak gravity and low atmospheric pressure, the water and gas molecules waft off to space.

[...] Cassini discovered the geysers on Enceladus in 2005. Scientists believe that there could be a liquid ocean beneath the moon's surface.

MESSENGER will fly by the planet once more in September 2009. The spacecraft is scheduled to enter orbit around Mercury on March 18, 2011.

In the meantime, the Cassini spacecraft is getting ready to execute two more flybys of Saturn's moon Enceladus (pronounced in-SELL-uh-dus) this month. Enceladus, you may recall, is the moon that is spewing cold geysers of water into space, which suggests to scientists there is liquid water (possibly even an ocean) under its surface.

The first flyby, set for Thursday October 9th, is arguably the more exciting of the two. Cassini will pass just 16 miles over the surface of the moon, directly through the geyser plume. The emphasis on this flyby will be to use the on-board science instruments to learn more about its composition. Data from previous flybys indicate that, in addition to water vapor, water ice, and dust, the plume also contains trace amounts of organic chemicals. The presence of organics has certainly perked up the antennae of the astrobiology community. In only a short period of time this little moon has shot to near the top of the list of promising places to look for extra-terrestrial microbial life.

The second Enceladus flyby of the month is set for Oct. 31. Cassini will fly 122 miles over the surface, and use on-board cameras to photograph surface fractures in the south polar region.

Ok, that was my juvenile lead-in for my Saturn saga. Witty wasn't it? Well, I thought it was, but then Im still a fan of bathroom humor.

Now. About my Saturn. Ive only had this car since February. Its a little gem of a car, its so smart it reminds me when to get my oil changed and when something is wrong with the car anywhere. It has a brain! No seriously, it does! All its maintenance and functionality are tied into the brain. It also has built in security. Its impossible to steal. I found this out the hard way when my daughter tried to borrow the car (with permission!) and it wouldnt start, nor would the ignition release the key! So I came out to help and couldnt get the key to turn...I reasoned that if I could get the key out of the ignition, I would be able to get into the trunk where the battery is to get a jump. Well. 3 hours later, a tow truck took it to my hometown mechanic, who was able to order a replacement ignition assembly (price: $400) from the nearest Saturn dealer (2 hrs away!). When it came, it was a big rigamarole to get the key coded to match the ignition sequence. Not only that, but I am now on file at Saturn's main HQ as the owner of that ignition. and key. for 4 years! (cost: $300 labor / locksmith fees)

Anyway, once the ignition was installed, and the key coded, we all thought "problem solved!" WRONG! The car's "BRAIN" needed to be reprogrammed all over again. This takes a special tool called a TECH 2. Which my friendly neighborhood mechanic didn't have. A hasty call to the Dealership 2 hrs away revealed that the car needed to be serviced by a GM dealer who has the TECH 2. Fortunately, the dealership where I bought it has such a tool but they are an hour away. A phone call to a local towing company solved that problem, and this morning, my lovely gem was towed (cost: $160) to the dealership. I was given an estimate of $130 for the programming. I am now out a cool Thousand dollars (give or take $10), and its not done yet because......

........the dealership calls me and says they cant get the key to turn. They call the Saturn dealer 2 hrs away and talk them into sending a new ignition BUT they will only send it to the same mechanic who installed the first one!!! ARRRRGH!!!!! I was reassured that I would not be paying for the new ignition nor the installation nor the possible cost of towing if my hometown mechanic cant convince Saturn to send the new ignition to the Dealership where the car now resides.

As I go to bed tonight, I realize that there is a cosmic joke being played on me. I just cant decide if Saturn or Uranus will have the last laff......

 Hiperboreea, Atlantida, Imperiul Pelasg

Unul dintre cele mai interesante  aspecte ale manifestării ciclice  este marea migraţiune hiperboreană. În plan ezoteric, aceasta corespunde  unei coborâri din indistincţia  polară  pentru a se manifesta  în multiplele etape secundare ale ciclului.

Toate tradiţiile antice sunt unanim de acord că Hiperboreea era localizată în Dacia străveche, centrul celui mai vast imperiu din  istorie, Imperiul Pelasg asimilabil Atlantidei platoniciene, condusă de Poseidon. Ori, atât miturile cu referire la Hiperboreea cât şi cele referitoare la Atlantida, sunt unanim de acord că  acestea erau centre ale tradiţiei primordiale. Prin urmare la acestea se raportează, în plan istoric, simbolismul Centrului.

Voi cita câteva mărturii ale antichităţii pentru o edificare completă. Pindar, cel mai erudit poet al Greciei antice, ne spune în opera sa intitulată Olimpicele că după ce a construit zidurile Troiei  ajutat de Poseidon/Neptun şi eroul Eac, Apollo s-a întors în patria sa de pe Istru (Dunărea), la hiperboreeni. Clement Alexandrinul este şi mai concludent numindu-l pe Zamolxe/Apollo Hiperboreanul în a sa opera intitulată Stromata. Mai mult, Strabon afirmă categoric că „primii care au descris diferitele părţi ale lumii spun că hiperboreenii locuiau deasupra Pontului Euxin (Marea Neagră) şi a Istrului (Dunărea).

Din Dialogurile lui Platon (Kritias mai ales) aflăm că Atlantida era situată dincolo de Strâmtoarea Gaditană şi avea ca rege pe Poseidon, un alt atribut al lui Zamolxe şi nume al unuia dintre preoţii regi ai pelasgilor. Poseidon, după cum afirmă tradiţiile greceşti, domnise peste  regiunile din preajma Muntelui Atlas, situat în ţara hiperboreilor sau în nordul Istrului de Jos. Această situare, după cum se poate observa concordă întru totul cu localizarea pe care o dădeau anticii Hiperboreei. De la numele muntelui Atlas vine numele Atlantidei şi nu de la altceva. Din punct de vedere geografic această Atlantida cuprindea regiunea  sudică a Carpaţilor şi în particular Oltenia.

Am vorbit despre hiperboreeni şi despre atlanţi, care par  a fi  de fapt unul şi acelaşi popor în etape diferite ale evoluţiei sale în plan mitic. În plan material însă, acest popor cu caracterele sale primordiale poartă un alt nume şi anume acela de pelasgi. Despre aceşti pelasgi Densuşianu ne spune, după ce a studiat întreaga  literatură antică  cu referire la ei, că „ au fost primii care au adunat în societate  familiile şi triburile răspândite prin caverne, prin munţi şi păduri, au întemeiat sate şi oraşe, au format cele dintâi state, au dat supuşilor or legi şi au introdus modul lor de viaţă mai blând. Pentru poporul grec, Pelasgii erau  cei mai vechi oameni de pe pământ. Rasa  lor li se părea atât de arhaică, atât de superioară în concepţiuni, puternică în voinţă şi în fapte, atât de nobilă în moravuri, încât tradiţiile  şi poemele greceşti atribuiau tuturor pelasgilor epitetul de  -dioi – divini, ce ei întru adevăr l-au meritat pentru darurile lor fizice şi morale. Din cele afirmate de N. Densuşianu se poate observa caracterul de popor primordial şi civilizator al pelasgilor. Mai departe acelaşi autor ne lămureşte unde îşi aveau sălaşele aceşti pelasgi:” În tipurile preistorice gintea pelasgă avusese o extensiune vastă geografică. Ea formase totodată şi o mare unitate politică, un imperiu enorm. Reşedinţa principală a cestor regi (pelasgi-n.n) se afla în Nordul Dunării de jos, pe pământul Daciei vechi. Aceasta o confirmă tradiţiunile geografice, ce le aflăm la Homer şi Hesiod, şi aceasta rezultă din istoria cea sacră a egiptenilor, fenicienilor, asirienilor şi perşilor.

Identificarea dintre hiperborei şi pelasgi este  făcută şi de Apollonius din Rhodos care ne spune textual: „hiperboreenii  sunt Pelasgi locuind în nordul Thraciei”. Pe lângă această afirmaţie fără echivoc mai amintim faptul că , la Dodona, sanctuarul lui Zeus, întemeiat de hiperboreeni în Epir, divinitatea supremă era adorată sub numele  de Zeus Pelasgikos. Tot astfel este invocat marele zeu al lumii preelenice de către Ahile în Iliada iar Scoliastul lui Pindar, în genealogia zeilor  pe care o propune, spune că Hiperboreus este fiul lui Pelasgos. Deci, pentru a arăta  existenţa rasei primordiale în ciclul nostru de existenţă numele de pelasg este  mai nimerit încă  ca şi acela de hiperboreu.

În plan mistic, simbolic, poetul antic Asius ne spune  că Pelasgos  este fiul Geei, adică „născut din pământul negru” termen care face referire la indistincţia primordială. Prin urmare,  termenul Pelasgos este desemnarea Omului primordial sau Universal, acel Adam Qadmon al tradiţiei ebraice şi islamice. Transpunerea acestor adevăruri ezoterice în plan material ne dă următoarea afirmaţie: pelasgii, autohtonii de la Dunărea de jos, adică  „născuţi din pământul negru” , au pus bazele unui imens imperiu lumesc a cărui apogeu a fost atins în vremea lui Saturn/Zamolxe, care în tradiţiile româneşti este numit Omul Mare, ce şi-a extins dominaţia asupra  întregii lumi cunoscute.

Istoria sacră se împleteşte cu istoria profană. Simbolismul Centrului şi al Polului şi manifestarea lui în plan material

Spuneam la începutul articolului că marea migraţiune hiperboreană percepută prin prisma ezoterică, este o descindere din indistincţia polară  pentru  a se putea manifesta în multiplele planuri secundare ale ciclului. Ori în plan material acesta descindere este tot una cu termenul migraţiune. Privind această migraţiune  a pelasgilor din centrul primordial de la Dunărea de Jos şi din Carpaţi se poate observa că, migraţia  în cauză nu are nimic dintr-o emigraţie în sensul înţeles de moderni. Ea nu are nimic improvizat, întâmplător sau precipitat, şi mai ales, nu are nimic violent. Totul se petrece sub semnul civilizaţiei întrucât peste tot pe unde au ajuns pelasgii se remarcă o înflorire a culturii şi civilizaţiei băştinaşilor sub noul imbold.

Simbolurile şi istoria ne spun acelaşi lucru. Simbolul autentic este o cheie a unor secrete transcendente ce-şi au corespondent în lumea materială. Simbolurile care nu se supun acestui criteriu nu sunt simboluri autentice.

Reprezentarea cea mai simplă a ideii de Centru în tradiţiile antice este imaginea cercului  cu un punct în centrul său. Punctul reprezintă unitatea, principiul din care toate lucrurile au pornit iar cercul este imaginea lumii. Transpunerea acestui simbol în plan literal  ne dă afirmaţia  întâlnită în Evanghelia după Ioan: „La început a fost Cuvântul” . în plan istoric însă, acest simbol face referire la  punctul de plecare al civilizaţiei umane care în toate tradiţiile antice este  Centrul Lumii sau Polul Spiritual. Unde se afla acest pol spiritual al tradiţiilor antice ne spune poetul roman Marţial în Epigramele sale: „Soldat Marcellin, tu pleci acum să  iei pe umerii tăi Cerul hiperborean şi astrele polului getic!” Încă Ovidiu , poetul roman exilat la Tomis, în Tristele, spune că a fost silit să trăiască în exil sub axul boreal, în stânga Pontului Euxin. Acelaşi autor ne spune, în Ponticele de această dată, că vorbeşte în imaginaţie cu amicul său Macro de la Roma  sub Axul Boreal, în ţara geţilor. Destul de limpede cred eu….

 Probabil vă veţi întreba  ce legătură are Centrul cu Polul. Întotdeauna  Centrul Lumii  este un punct fix, pe care tradiţiile sacralităţii antice se învoiesc să-l desemneze sub denumirea de Pol deoarece în jurul său gravitează lumea. Atenţie însă, în limbajul simbolic,  gravitaţia lumii nu înseamnă acelaşi lucru cu gravitaţia pământului şi prin urmare nu este vorba de polul geografic ci de polul spiritual. Aceasta este  punctul (locul) primordial din care au plecat cultura şi civilizaţia şi chiar tradiţiile sacralităţii originare, oglindite cu mai multă sau mai puţină acurateţe  în tradiţiile secundare ale ciclului, afectate în plan material de migraţia pelasgă. Ori, chiar în acest punct apare situat şi Muntele Cosmic, Piramida Cosmică, Arborele Cosmic, Arborele Vieţii, al tradiţiilor antice. Dacă Dacia străveche a fost acest centru spiritual al lumii vechi atunci ar trebui să existe măcar o mărturie în tradiţia populară care să confirme acest fapt. De ce în tradiţia populară? Pentru că tradiţia populară nu este populară la origine. Ceea ce poate fi popular este doar faptul supravieţuirii acestei tradiţii atunci când aceste forme tradiţionale sunt dispărute. Prin aceasta, se înţelege păstrarea acestei tradiţii de către popor, într-o formă aproape deloc înţeleasă, el împlinind  funcţia  de „memorie colectivă” al cărei conţinut este însă venit din altă parte. Ceea ce uimeşte la aceste tradiţii aşa zis populare este faptul că, cu cât se sondează mai adânc în conţinutul lor, cu atât se descoperă o sumă mai mare de elemente cu caracter ezoteric, adică tocmai acele elemente care sunt mai puţin caracteristice vulgului, în esenţă. Acest fapt, singur are darul de a demonstra că atunci când o formă tradiţională este pe cale de a se stinge, ultimii săi reprezentanţi încredinţează în mod voit, memoriei poporului, ceea ce altfel s-ar pierde în mod iremediabil. În plus, oarecum chiar răutăcios, ignoranţa maselor este o garanţie pentru cei care transmit aceste mărturii  memoriei colective, că ceea ce are un caracter ezoteric (ascuns) se va menţine la fel, rămânând cel mult,  o mărturie a trecutului, pe care cei apţi din timpurile  ce vor veni, o vor putea dezlega.

 Or, tradiţia că Centrul Lumii asimilat Polului spiritual este încă vie în conştiinţa ţăranului român. Dovadă este chiar folclorul  românesc care mărturiseşte despre  „Osia Lumii”, sau „Buricul Pământului”, plasat în Bucegi, pe vârful Omu, închinat divinităţii supreme a lumii vechi Zamolxe/ Saturn/ Omul. Pe acest munte se înaltă Columna cerului denumit şi Întreitul stâlp al cerului pe care anticii îl denumeau în mod expres  Cardines Mundi, Omphalos, Muntele Cosmic.

Emanaţiile Centrului şi Marea Migraţiune Hiperboreo-pelasgă

Din mărturiile existente se poate trage  concluzia că marea migraţiune hiperboreo pelasgă  s-a desfăşurat mai întâi pe verticala nord sud, pe direcţia Marea Baltică – Grecia şi mai târziu nordul Africii, avându-şi punctul central în Dacia străveche. Unind  aceste puncte  obţinem o dreaptă verticală simbol al axului lumii care din punct de vedere al geografiei sacre,  nu era altceva decât meridianul 0 al antichităţii. Totul se reduce, aici, la Dunărea de Jos, de la genealogia popoarelor până la originile culturii şi civilizaţiei.

Emanaţia Centrului spre stânga şi spre dreapta dă din nou o dreaptă de această dată orizontală. În plan istoric avem mărturii despre existenţa  pelasgilor  pâna la Oceanul Atlantic , parte a Europei care  aparţine grupelor de culturi  trace şi celte,  care în genealogia mitică a popoarelor se trag din  pelasgi. Mărturii antice, istorice de această dată, ne spun despre extensiunea neamului  dac până în China, Asia Mică şi Asia centrală fiind ocupată de massageţi; iar prinţul Rama, preot scit (trac), cum îl desemnează Ramayana i-a condus pe pelasgi până în India! Aceste două verticale, în plan material, ne arata că la un moment dat , undeva în jurul anului 8000, exista un centru de cultură, civilizaţie şi spiritualitate  latentă, situat la Dunărea de jos, care în diferite etape  cuprinse până la circa 1200 î.Ch şi-a exercitat influenţa asupra întregii lumi antice!

Poziţia de Centru a Daciei nu este  greu de dovedit nici măcar geografic. Dacă luam o hartă vom  vedea că această regiune de la Dunărea de jos, locuită în prezent de români, se află la distanţă aproximativ egala se toate marginile uscatului cunoscut în acele timpuri!

Suprapunând ele două drepte  şi înscriindu-le în cerc vom obţine o nouă figură, anume crucea cu brate egale înscrisă în cerc. Aceasta este  simbolul emanaţiei luminii sau a triumfului luminii, cum aflăm din spiritualitatea greacă şi nu numai. În plan material, acest simbol semnifică centralizarea puterii imperiului Pelasg, cu centrul în Dacia, sub domnia lui Saturn. Densuşianu ne spune că, sub domnia lui Saturn omenirea face un progres enorm pe calea  civilizaţiei, catalogându-l  drept începătorul şi propagatorul fericirii omeneşti. Sub imperiul său lumesc, a fost ceea ce miturile numesc unanim vârsta de aur a omenirii, paradisul terestru al Bibliei, acele vremuri pline de abundenţă când dominau pe pământ justiţia şi buna credinţă, condiţii esenţiale pentru liniştea şi bunăstarea omenirii. Iată cum lumina, în planul material, istoric, se revarsă asupra lumii din …. Dacia!

Dacă până sub domnia lui Saturn s-au pus bazele Imperiului Pelasg, imaginea materială a miticei Hiperboreea şi Atlantida, odată cu centralizarea Imperului şi domnia lui Saturn se întreprind noi acţiuni de colonizare şi civilizare a zonelor neatinse încă de binefacerile pelasge. În plan simbolic, aceste acţiuni de revărsare a Luminii peste teritoriile în cauză, se concretizează printr-un X sau Crucea Sfântului Andrei, patronul lupilor în mitologia românească. Prin urmare, nu este vorba de un simbol care să-l desemneze pe Sfântul Apostol Andrei, ucenicul lui Iisus Christos. De ce? Pentru că Andrei/ Andrea/ Undrea este amintirea lui Andros/Andru din limba greacă care înseamnă Om; iar Om este denumirea sub care s-a păstrat denumirea lui Saturn/Zamolxe în folclorul românesc. El Este Omul Mare al tradiţiilor româneşti şi a antichităţii greco romane. Deci, dacă în plan  simbolic crucea în formă de X este  extinderea Principiului, a Centrului, pentru a lumina toate punctele cardinale cunoscute, în plan material  ea simbolizează acţiunea civilizatoare a Imperiului Pelasg şi asupra teritoriilor care încă nu intraseră, până la domnia lui Saturn, sub influenţa sa. Dacă suprapunem acest X peste crucea cu braţe egale înscrisă deja în cerc avem o surpriză. Vom obţine „rotiţa celtică” cu opt spiţe sau ceea ce orientalii numesc „roata norocului”,  manifestarea deplină a  principiului în lume în cadrul unui ciclu de existenţă.  Aceeaşi „rozetă”, pe care o avem sculpată în lemnul porţilor tradiţionale ţărăneşti din România şi care este considerată de cercetători şi etnografi un simbol solar. Este un simbol solar doar în măsura în care  Soarele este considerat centrul sistemului nostru solar şi cel care dă viaţă pământului, exact cum imperiul Pelasg sub domania lui Saturn era „Soarele” care-şi revărsa lumina civilizatoare asupra populaţiilor pe care le îngloba; iar Saturn este Soarele în măsura în care  era creierului Imperiului Pelasg!

Dacă prelungim în unghi drept braţele crucii în formă de X, obţinem un semn ce  a fost interpretat greşit ca simbol solar, el fiind în fapt o hieroglifă a Polului, acel centru al Lumii situat în Hiperboreea şi Atlantida mitică, concretizată în Dacia, centrul Imperiului Pelasg. Este vorba despre Svastică. Svastica este simbolul manifestării depline a principiului  în lume iar traseul său pe circumferinţa cercului arată plenitudinea acţiunii sale benefice asupra tuturor făpturilor intrate sub influenţa sa. Dacă privim svastica descompusă în elementele sale componente  obţinem doi Z; Principiul descompus în cele două elemente esenţiale: elementul masculin, pasiv şi elementul feminin, activ, acel Yin/Yang al Extremului Orient.

 În lexiconul Suidas găsim o afirmaţie şocantă, am putea spune, anume că Zamolxe este şi nume de zeiţă. Zeul dacilor sub aspectul său masculin si pasiv era cunoscut sub numele de Zamolxe şi identificat, în plan terestru, cu persoana marelui său preot Saturn, regele Imperiului Pelasg. Ori despre Saturn aflăm că avea de soaţă pe Rheea, care se traduce Regina. Regele şi regina, zeul şi zeiţa, reflectarea planului spiritual în plan material si invers! Iată de unde decurge principiul regalităţii sacre! Axa Lumii, prin care ezoterismul vede legătura între Cer şi Pământ, era situată în Dacia Centrul  spiritual,  şi aproape şi material al lumii, unde trebuia să fie „precum în cer, aşa şi pe pământ”! Prin urmare cei doi Z au un dublu sens. Ei reprezintă iniţialele  Principiului descompus în forţele care-l constituie, şi refleţia acestora în lumea materială, sub forma  regelui preot si a reginei preotese! Valoarea sacră a acestui simbol o aflăm de la V Lovinescu care  ne spune, că un domn educat  încerca să-i explice unui ţăran român că svastica este un simbol de import şi care a primit  răspunsul uimitor: „Ba nu! E a nost! Îl avem de pe vremea Urieşilor!” Ori, aceşti uriaşi sunt atestaţi de tradiţiile greceşti ca ciclopi care locuiesc în Ţara Zeilor,  dincolo de Dunăre (Istru), mitica Hiperboreea. În plus,  atât Rheea cât şi Saturn sunt pomeniţi în descântecele populare româneşti. Mai trebuie să spunem  că există o formă particula a svasticii  care  se prezintă sub forma a doi S suprapuşi. Acesta pe Dublul Zamolxe, sub forma zeilor şerpi, de la care avem denumirea Insulei Albe sau Insula Şerpilor.

Ultimul simbol veritabil care desemnează activitatea deplină a principiului  şi a Centrului în lumea materială este Octogonul. Acesta ia fiinţă prin unirea diametrelor  celor doua cruci, de unde se obţine câte un pătrat, care apoi, este aşezat unul peste altul prin suprapunere. Acest simbol este caracteristic  poporului român, îl aflăm atât în cusăturile ţărăneşti cât si în ornamentaţia bisericilor de lemn şi nu numai. Cupolele  majorităţii bisericilor închipuie un octogon în care este  reprezentat Iisus Pantacrator, adică manifestarea deplină a principiului christic, a Verbului Creator. Octogonul apare de-a lungul istoriei românilor aproape peste tot, ceea ce demonstrează cu prisosinţă că , atunci demult, în negurile istoriei , centrul spiritual al Lumii  desemnat sub numele de Pol se afla în Dacia, şi că acest simbol este  o moştenire arhetipală rămasă de la pelasgi, poporului român, descendent direct  al acestui neam  care prin capacităţile sale,  a devenit în ochii anticilor, legendar. El apare pe cuşma lui Vlad Ţepeş,

Ce e mai ciudat este că decoraţia militară românească numită „Ordinul Steaua României este tot de formă octogonală.

Forma octogonală o găsim şi în planul oraşului medieval Alba Iulia, locul primei uniri a tuturor românilor, sub Mihai Voievod Viteazul!

Iată cum Istoria sacră, relatată de simbolurile autentice şi străvechi, se oglindeşte în planul istoriei profane. Ea ne spune despre vremuri de mult apuse în care Dacia era centrul spiritual al lumii, locul unde Principiul,  Dublul Zamolxe comunica cu manifestarea sa materială marele preot şi marea preoteasă , regii Imperiului Pelasg, pentru a-şi revărsa binefacerile asupra întregii lumi cunoscute.

Introduction

The configurations in the sky do not affect one nation, or one people. The patterns in the celestial sphere create and destroy patterns which are copied on Planet Earth with the simple determinism of seeds being planted on fertile ground germinating and producing fruit. They impel of course they impel, but when a seed is planted, watered and given the right amount of sunlight, nutrition, and warmth, it is fairly easy to say that you will be reaping what you have sown. This article is interested in finding out whether the heaven's seed are about to fall on stony ground, and whether those seeds might just contain a few weeds among them.

The Last Ideology:1966

Now, down to business. Uranus and Pluto were conjoined in longitudinal degrees during the late 1960's everyone knows this and a few people may also be aware that they were simultaneously opposed by a beleaguered Saturn in Pisces and eventually given a winning hand from Jupiter as he traversed late Virgo after that opposition. The Ideology however, is what we are after. Several ideological structures came out of the late 1960's which were previously not in circulation. Some of the things which are thought of as being created during that era are women's power, as well as civil rights for minorities. These are big things, big ideas with big laws that were passed in order to support those people, and there is nothing wrong there as far as I can see. This was one of the great movements of progress of the 20th Century. 1966 marks the T-Square of these planets with Jupiter sadly detrimented in Gemini, with Saturn in Pisces and with Uranus and Pluto conjoined in Virgo. It is this moment in time which has been the beginning of the Era of late 20th Century and early 21st Century, politics, and social modes existence, the social rules were in effect changed in 1966, which does mark the watershed moment.

Why was this ideological structure developed in the way it was? The reason is not in the noble ideas of equality and dignity of humanity, nor in the progression of the rights of anyone, but in the power structure of Empire. The real motivating force for these changes was historical. For an empire to exist there needs to be social cohesion. Social cohesion in the Western World was only possible through these bills of rights and social movements, which were in effect damaging to the structures of traditional Religion, signified by Jupiter in Gemini being defeated by the other stronger planets in materialistic and analytical Virgo, and a Saturn in Pisces which is reminiscent of power structures that are torn in two directions.

In essence the 1966 alignment allowed for social cohesion and the economic freedom in vast untapped numbers of the Western population, namely women's economic power, befitting the Virgo symbolism of a Woman associated with service and harvest. the main focus of Virgo is that everything has a place and a worth, and the simple economics of this placing has allowed the economic materialism due to the nature of the Earth element to empower a Western Empire which is constant in its adaptation and has no centralised power structure but various co-operating structures, which again is part of the nature of those three mutable signs, Pisces, Virgo and Gemini, with emphasis on materialism and Mercurial thought over the Piscean and Sagittarian belief, sacrificed for the economic power structure. And all of course based on that key logical yet completely anti-spiritual Ideology of the 1966 T-Square.

Note: Although Neptune is not directly involved in the T-Square aspect pattern, Neptune however, does confer its particular power from Scorpio, and this is where the association of the 'sixties with Sex and Sexual Revolution comes from, due solely to Neptune in Scorpio, nothing to do with Mars, or Pluto. The Neptunian energy manifests itself mainly in music, art and cultural pursuits including drugs.

Ideology formed and given power: 1931

Now we go one more step back in the 20th Century, we come to the ideology which was formed and crystallised in 1931. How can you not look to Germany? Saturn, Pluto and Uranus were T-Square in Cardinal signs during this year with the Sun conjoining as close a matrix as possible on July the 13th of that year. Now the Sun in this aspect pattern gives the show a big star. Most people will immediately say, Adolf Hitler!! Ah, what intuition! But they would be wrong the heavens have scattered several big stars all across the globe, certainly he was one of the stars of that Era, but we have other big house hold names like Roosevelt, Stalin, Churchill, all of which actually managed to hold power in their own countries for as long as Mr Hitler, if not a lot longer. These men were all sensitive Cancerian types, Father figures who were fighting for the preservation of their homelands. Can you get a better description of Pluto conjunct Sun in Cancer?

So, what was the ideology which existed between 1931 and 1966? This ideology was based on the darkness of Saturn in Capricorn and the impulse of destruction and creation, of Uranus in Aries.  Even after the War, it was the "Cold War" a rather befitting term for Saturn in Capricorn, whose nature inclines towards low energy, though with a tenacity and talent for persistence and survival. The Iron Curtain and the Berlin Wall are powerful symbolism of this placement, how much more evidence is needed to show that the Era of thirty five years was commenced in 1931, even after the demise of the fascist Bogey man of all time.

Note: Mars, although not directly involved in the T-Square aspect pattern is however, powerfully connected in virgo with Sun, Saturn and even Uranus through an Inconjunct aspect. Mars although outside of the matrix which is the Era creation is however so involved that it is impossible to separate his energetic and agressive influence. Indeed looking at History it is easy to see how Mars even in 1931 in this aspect grid was influencial, with Uranus in Aries, it is necessary to view the dispositor, Mars.

1903 (note: not a Saturn configuration, though still powerful technologically)

This year is also a marker of Uranus-Pluto forming a T-Square with another outer planet, Jupiter. This is though, an exception to the Ideological Structures and 1903 really belongs to the matrix of 1851. Because this is Jupiter it is not the powerful social rule creating, politically fueled force that involves Saturn. On September the 12 1903, the Sun plugs into this T-Square to form a grand cross. 1903 is significant for other reasons. Shortly after the Grand Cross of September the 12, Orville Wright makes the first combustion engine powered flight, the USA begin to expand with the instigation of rebellion and eventual control of Panama. During this period Edward VII became King of England and Emperor of the British Empire, so 1903 loosely coincides with the transferal of power, though for the true ideological Era it is necessary to look back further.

1851

The 24th of October 1851 marks the beginning of an Era which ended not in 1903, but in 1931, this is a period of eighty years. The T-Square of 1851 is a bit of an understatement. In the early degrees of Taurus and late Aries a stellium lined up to include Pluto, Saturn and Uranus. This alone marked the beginning of an Era, the beginning of an ideology and the chronocrator of a time period which saw the height of the British Empire and the almost total domination in true Taurus style of most of the world's land mass by one Empire. On the other side of this stellium is to be found another stellium of Moon, Sun, Jupiter, and Venus. Those personal planets signify a family united under a bright star a king and emperor in the most powerful sign at the first degree of Scorpio symbolising the beginning the Empire. Mars of course in the sign of Leo shows that it was the Nation whose symbol of military strength was indeed three Lions and has Lion imagery in every crest and seal.

Ideologically the period starting in 1851 was one in which the Fixed signs dominated, with Scorpio and Taurus as feminine signs of both power and cultural creation it was a time in which a strict code of law was in force, a cultural ideology based on wealth and industrial power took hold, the rise of a bourgeois middle class with great power in not only the British houses of Parliament, but in the nations of Europe and America as well as in Asia with Japanese imperialism based on industrial and monetary growth. There is nothing that symbolises this as a time marker more than the opening of THE GREAT EXHIBITION OF THE WORKS OF INDUSTRY OF ALL NATIONS in the Crystal Palace, Hyde Park in of course London, which ran for most of that year.

The accepted norms of society though are what we are looking for, the equivalent of 1930's Fascism and 1960's Feminism was 1850's, this is an Era which is determined by strict social rules and stability, by respect for tradition, by love of culture, of literature, music, and religion, with the Uranus, Pluto and Saturn Stellium between the last degree of Aries and the early degrees of Taurus. The Scorpio inner family symbolised a unity of a central family which could not be better described better than by the enduring family of Queen and Empress Victoria at the centre of this Ideology, and not surprising that it is now known as the "VICTORIAN AGE."

Note: Neptune is connected to this aspect pattern, though slightly wide from making a sextile to Pluto and Saturn, it does slide into a wedge with Uranus and the family of inner planets in Trine on the other side. So to note, some of the greatest cultural achievements in Literature, Art and Music were achieved during this Era. Even beginning in the 1850's Dickens was writing his great works, as were the other great authors and composers of the second half of the 19th Century. That Pisces Neptune must be interpreted in terms of spiritual accompaniment durning this period, great Religious fervour and belief, in spite of the developing ideas of the times like Darwinism, Marxism and Science. This Neptune in Pisces as always symbolises two fish swimming in opposite directions, two fish who both have belief, and in retrospect these fish are both Religions and Sciences.

1819

On the 17th December 1819 a Square took place involving Pluto and Saturn in Pisces, (Chiron also) with Uranus and Neptune forming a stellium with Sun and Moon in Sagittarius. There are some ways in which this was a greater Era creator than the 1851 alignment. Namely Neptune is involved in the alignment, though the energy and buoyancy of Jupiter and Mars are omitted with the result that this alignment was in many ways a silent, velvet revolution in World Thought. There are numerous world writers who were born during this period, Fyodor Dostoevski, Anne Bronte, and George Eliot as well as Charles Dickens give or take a couple of years are a few, and the writings which they eventually wrote were highly religiously inclined with huge spiritual involvement, all due to the effect of this Pisces, Sagittarius alignment.

Some events of this alignment are the beginning of George IV's reign, as well as the end of the Napoleonic Wars with a return to the traditional establishment, to the traditional mode of belief, which the French Revolution as well as the American Revolution had threatened. South America became a free enterprise in the year 1819 with the proclamation of Gran Colombia.

1792

This year is very different from all other alignments of the nature which are under scrutiny in this article. The planets Uranus, Pluto along with Sun-Moon conjoining in Sagittarius on the 13th December of 1792 form a Kite aspect pattern. This alone fulfils the criteria of a powerful aspect pattern involving the said planets although the sextiles are fairly weak on there own they are in a powerful alignment. To note also, Jupiter forms a T-Square with the Pluto-Uranus opposition though does not link up with Saturn.

The events of the years between 1792 and 1819 are well chronicled. Franch becomes a scene of Revolution, with much upheaval and bloodshed, it also forges ahead with new ideas and experiments with different forms of governance but does inevitably become an Atheistic Empire on the rampage under Napoleon Bonaparte.

But of course the events in the Heavens were not just taking place over France. Britain and Germany saw a cultural revolution in the name of a Poetic movement now known as ROMANTICISM. And not only were these poets writing their subversive texts, there really was fear in the rest of Europe of Revolution taking place because of the unparalleled social change of this Era. The Kite formation is a pattern which is made for movement, for travel and like the actual physical kite its symbolism can be seen in this period in the name of great movement, upheaval and excitement, as if whole nations were able to fly and metaphorically, France did just this.

1649

The only true link up between Uranus, Pluto and Saturn with an acceptable orb and acceptable strength of power took place in 1648 and 1649 and involved Uranus in conjunction with Neptune on 27th February 1649. Saturn, True Node and Pluto were conjoined together in Gemini in opposition with the Uranus and Neptune placement in Sagittarius. The Sun and Mercury formed a Grand Cross with Moon and Mars in opposition in Virgo.

1649 begun the Era which lasted until 1819. This period of time was begun with the execution of King Charles I, the killing of the King, God's representation on Earth had never been done before, but was done by Parliamentarians, whose logic was founded in the power of Pluto conjunct Saturn in Gemini. It is hard going back so far to make an estimation of the cultural and social values of this time period. During this period John Milton was writing Paradise Lost and supporting Republicanism, in an age of total Monarchy.

The Grand Cross in mutable signs confers a great struggle between on the one hand Gemini materialism and logical thought and on the other side Sagittarian orthodoxy. This is a struggle which lasted until 1819 which seems to have marked a brief period of all embracing Religious Faith until the 1851 alignment.

• ... über 50 Jahre lang in der Schweiz WM-Läufe im Motorsport verboten waren? Erst 2007 wurde das Verbot gekippt. Grund für das Verbot war 1955 ein Unfall in Le Mans bei dem ein Mercedes ins Publikum flog und 82 Menschen tötete.

• ... die Wahrscheinlichkeit, dass bei 23 anwesenden Personen (z.Bsp. Zwei Fußballmannschaften und ein Schiedsrichter auf dem Platz) zwei am selben Tag Geburtstag haben, bei über 50% liegt? Dies ist ein Beispiel, dass Wahrscheinlichkeiten oft falsch geschätzt werden und wird deshalb in der Mathematik als Geburtstagsparadoxon bezeichnet. • ... es in den Saturnringen blitzt? Die inneren Ringe sind so nah am Saturn, dass sie sein Magnetfeld     erreichen. Durch die Drehbewegung wird eine Spannung induziert. Aufgrund des Spannungsunterschieds zwischen den inneren und äußeren Ringen entstehen Blitze.

Of course an activating aspect is needed.  (Read my other writings about activating events (typically new or full moons).)  Monday is Sun Square Jupiter, a time of often overly ambitious overspending.  The Venus / Saturn / Chiron aspects of Tuesday and Wednesday October 7th and 8th will produce MORE revelations about the "structural soundness" of the world economy as well as the U.S. Economy.  Don't be surprised to receive interesting "news" on these days, either.  By the Full Moon of October 14th, some of these truths will be unavoidable.  Deceit will continue, but the liars and cheats will find it more difficult to perpetrate the fraud.  So to speak, "Main Street" has had enough.

The key thing to remember, here, is that a huge unbridled bailout (Jupiter) is NOT the answer here.  The answer requires intense work on the "fundamentals" of the economy and finance system.  The time has arrived for a profound belt-tightening.  I'll say a little more about October, but the real key will be found "about" the time of Thanksgiving Day.  Maybe the Wednesday before Thanksgiving will be the turning point, or maybe it will be Thanksgiving itself.

That said, other rough spots in October: Refuse to succumb to any temptation to be impetuous on October 14th.  This is a "feel good" full moon day that will tempt many to act rashly.  Don't get sucked into THAT trap.

October 15th Mercury "goes direct" and this means on the 15th or following few days something "overdue" will be handled.  The classic example for some of you is the arrival of an overdue check.

The Grand Trine of Thursday October 23rd will make that a very powerful MORNING (afternoon for Brits) to get things done.  Energies "flip" in afternoon and this is a time to rest and maybe reconsider.

Chiron goes direct on October 25th.  On or about that time we'll get a crucial message about some kind of healing.  This will definitely affect the financial markets, but also anyone with health problems.  Frankly, I'm a bit worried about Social Security and Medicare.

By Monday the 27th, the new issue of "healing" causes tempers to flare in a profound way.  Expect a battle royale.  "Things" could be very nasty.

The Scorpionic New Moon of the 28th is difficult to interpret.  The conflict of Monday can be read three ways: (1) it is dead & gone; (2) it has been swept under the rug and is festering; or (3) the firefight of Monday has gone totally covert.  Guns are traded for poisons.

The dance of Mercury and Neptune on Wednesday indicate confusion and overextended idealism at best.  At worst, they are about significant deception in a time when honesty is desperately needed.

The firefights of Thursday and Friday could be avoided if you find a safe athletic activity to participate in.  But, covert operations may be at risk for exposure on these days.

This might be one really scary Halloween.

Neptune turns direct Saturday and Sunday.  A planet of "happiness" often in the form of delusion or deceit, Neptune is also excellent at exposing secrets.  This will particularly apply to those born in the late 1950's and 1960's.  This is a good time to turn off the cell phone and hide with a good book or movie.  Harry Potter would work well.

Tuesday, November 4th is election day.  This one reminds me of the one in 2000 that was ENTIRELY in a moon void of course.  ("nothing will come of this" or perverse outcomes)  This one has Mars Square Neptune (Bill Clinton may be prominent this day for some unexplainable reason); Saturn in Opposition to Uranus (very, very financial); and (like 2000) the ENTIRE election is Moon v/c.

I predict an outcome similar to 2000, except dramatically more important.  Frankly, this is going to be a terrible mess.  And, in hindsight, we'll all know that the outcome was crucial.  (Why?  because of the outer planet stuff in the prior paragraph, especially Saturn Opposite Uranus, a once every fourteen years event.)

I'm not sure what was going on politically about 14 to 15 years ago, but it holds important answers for this election.  Even more so is whatever happened 28 to 30 years ago.  To understand what will happen here, look to the election of 1976 and what happened then consequent to the times of the "Arab Oil Embargo."

November has different events, but the kicker will be when Pluto re-enters Capricorn on Wednesday the 26th of November.  This is the day before Thanksgiving.  Pluto is highly "contractile" and so is Capricorn.  Money will be tight, far tighter than it is at the time I write this (Oct 4th).  This kind of "feeling" will continue through Christmas and the end of the year.  The "Islamic New Year" on December 29th may be a turning point of some kind.

Meistens sind die Produkte bei amazon (insbesondere deren genialer Erfindung der zshops), jpc, ebay und anderen Anbietern auch noch weitaus preiswerter. Hinzu kommt ein gigantisches Angebot und ein durch globaler Kapitalpotenz ermöglichter Rund-um-die-Uhr-Service, mit dem kein kleiner Plattenladen mithalten kann. Vom Universum der legalen und illegalen Downloadportale ganz zu schweigen.

Auch Elektrogroßhändler wie Media Markt oder Saturn bieten kaum zu unterbietende Angebotspreise und sägen damit schon länger am Ast der kleinen Geschäfte. Eine Anonymität bei Einkaufen in riesigen Hallen kann für kommunikationsscheue Individuen auch von Vorteil sein. Das Geldausgeben in solchen Konsumtempeln mag aus vielen berechtigten politischen und persönlichen Gründen meistens kein Geschenk sein; gerade für Geizhälse oder für nicht über genügend Privatkapital verfügende Zeitgenossen ist der Preisvorteil jedoch oft ein ausschlaggebendes Argument.

Trotzdem liegen die Vorteile eines Tonträgerfachgeschäfts mit einer Quartradmeterzahl von unter 1000 klar auf der Hand: Im Idealfall eine gemütliche Atmosphäre, kompetente Beratung, direkte musikalische Eins-zu-Eins-Kontrolle und die Möglichkeit des sofortigen Instant-Konsums mit folgenden haptischen Glückserlebnis.

Und selbst wenn man heutzutage wieder verstärkt in Großmärkten und Internetanbietern überwiegend neues Vinyl erwerben kann: Für Liebhaber und Sammler des alten schwarzen Plattengoldes bleibt der gut sortierte Plattenladen ein relevanter Ort.

Das Berlin mit die besten Geschäfte Deutschlands in diesem Bereich zu bieten hat, ist hinlänglich bekannt. Im folgenden habe ich meine subjektiven Favoriten aufgelistet. Dies bedeutet, dass hierbei Läden mit dem Fokus auf Techno/Electronic, Hip Hop, Jazz oder Klassik keine wirklich große Rolle spielen. Neben den Flohmärkten am Mauerpark oder auf dem Boxhagener Platz sind dies meine Hauptquellen für den direkten Musikkonsum. Allerdings nicht auszuschließen, dass schon morgen wieder ein neuer Laden entdeckt wird.

"...I'm definitely beginning to sense a 'fed-up-ness' emanating from you, Pisces," he says, "As if you're wondering when you might catch a break from the tangled web into which you've found yourself woven."

Elsewhere Astrobarry discusses the Saturn-Uranus opposition, which is now apparently within a 5-degree orb and hence officially in force.

An opposition is exactly what is sounds like - on the current astrological chart, Saturn and Uranus are opposite each other. The effects of an opposition are, too, as you would expect - the two energies are literally opposing, or pulling against each other.

To me, Saturn is 'the rules' planet - work hard to reap rewards, put in necessary effort, look at the big picture, grow and progress according to lessons learnt. Uranus, however, is more of a maverick energy - calling on us to ring in big changes, bring on the new world, shuck off ritualistic behaviours, defy cultural norms.

With these two energies opposed, is it surprising, then, that I am ever-more-aware of the huge discrepancy between the-world-and-my-life-as-I-want-it and the-motions-through-which-I-am-forced-to-go-through? I guess not.

Of course the impact of this may be heightened or lessened depending on where these energies are 'hitting' areas in my own natal chart. Investigating this could well be my next project...

Moving on to the next Sign in the Zodiac, Libra the Scales does hold the distinction of being the only Sign represented by an inanimate object.  In exploring where the significations of Libra came from, we must first begin a long trip back in time and explore the very foundation of astrological thought and philosophy, but this is the best way to exlore and understand the grand field of astrology.  As with several concepts, there is division between the modern and the classical, the difficult part comes in when both attempt to explain the same concept in different ways.  This artilce will explain the beginning concepts surrounding the Sign of Libra and how these concepts continue on into present day astrology.  Proving that the past is not so far behind.

Astronomy

Libra is actually a fairly unimpressive constellation, holding no first magnitude stars.  However, it does hold the Gliese system within it.  This system holds an earth-like extrasolar planet that is the first discovered to orbit around its parent star's hospitable zone (the distance away from the orbited star that has the proper temperature to support most forms of carbon-based life), this planet was discovered orbiting the star Gliese 581 which lies in the constellation.  There is argument about whether or not this earth-like planet can support life.  The autumnal equinox point used to lie within the constellation of Libra, but due to procession of the equinoxes, this point now lies within the previous constellation Virgo.

Mythology

The scales of Libra are often thought of as belonging to the justice goddess Astrea who is also associated with the adjacent constellation Virgo.  However, there is a totally different history to Libra that most people don't even know about.  Libra is the youngest of the Signs of the Zodiac in that it originally did not exist, or at least, it did not exist in the way we know it today.  The area of the sky where we now see scales was once seen as the claws of the scorpion; Scorpio.  Most classical writers, including Manilius and Ptolemy, knew it as this and called this constellation by the Greek word "Chelae" meaning "Claws".  The Romans are the ones who are said to be responsible for bringing the association of a balance to this area of heaven sometime around the first century BC; however, there is evidence to suggest that the Sumerians had already made this association as early as 2000 BC.  To the Romans, Libra was a favored Sign, it's said that the city of Rome was founded with Luna in Libra.

Also, the symbolism of the scales is very potent in Egyptian mythology.  The goddess Ma'at would weigh the feather of truth against the heart of a recently departed soul.  Should the heart fail the test, then it would be devoured by Ammit and the owner of the heart would be doomed to suffer in the afterlife for all eternity.

Traditional Associations

In Lilly's sixteenth chapter in Christian Astrology, he writes that Libra is "aerial, hot and moist, sanguine, masculine, movable, equinoctial, cardinal, human, and of the aerial triplicity".  Modern astrology supplies their own list of keywords associated with Libra, this list includes the words: diplomatic, cooperative, charming, sociable, kind, romantic, and refined.  Now let's compare the 17^th century writer's list to the modern list and see just how close they match up.

As a masculine/diurnal Sign, Libra is more comfortable openly expressing his opinion on the world around him.  Libra feels very comfortable expressing his opinion of justice and equality on the world around him, and he's also not afraid to stand up and defend these opinions openly against attack.  However, there is a certain hindrance in this ability in that Sol is traditionally depressed in this Sign.  Meaning that Libra has difficulty expressing Sol's individuality and self-expression because he is more concerned about fairness and juggling the opinions of a million other people as well as his own opinion, and then feel as if they need to take on the burden of responsibility to those million other people.  There is, though, a certain advantage of this planetary debility, in that Libras are very comfortable having their own views and positions challenged and consider the opinions of others and take the extra mile of looking at things through the opposing view's perspective.  This way, both ways are considered before a stance on an issue is taken.

This is not the only instance in which a planet-Sign relationship alters the significations of Libra, in fact the ruler of Libra - Venus - simply accentuates traits that are caused by Sol's fall in this Sign.  Venus is a planet that centers on relating to the people around us, Venus wants to be wanted and needed by others.  She needs to be accepted by others, and so too does this Sign under her rulership.  With this powerful connection to Venus, Libra feels like he needs to be needed by others, and so he will find that most of his problems and struggles in life center on other people.  Venus does, though, offer a sense of grace and finesse to Libra and makes him very attractive and sociable, unfortunately, it also makes Libra too easily influenced on aesthetic pleasures and too easily swayed by a pleasant appearance.

Libra is also a moveable or cardinal Sign, being that the season of autumn begins with Sol's ingress into this Sign, so all of the changes that occur in this season that differentiate it from the previous summer months are in full swing of motion.  So too does Libra's cardinal signification give him the will to initiate change.  Houlding writes:  "Yet of all the cardinal signs Libra is the most underrated force; for their non-intimidating personas can often fool us into thinking that they will give up on their goals far easier than they will." Libra is a sanguine air Sign, meaning that the humoural qualities associated with Libra are warm and moist.  This association makes Libra an optimistic and light-hearted Sign, enjoying the pleasantries and social circles while keeping things bright and charming.  As a sanguine Sign, Libra seeks the middle ground and shuns extremes and eccentric attitudes.  As a humane Sign, Libra is blessed with social graces, an accommodating attitude, a pleasant demeanor, and an abundance of manners and people skills that could operate very well for them in situations of public relations.

Only two Signs in the Zodiac are equinoctial, Libra being the second.  This means that Libra marks the Autumn equinox where the length of day and night are equal.  This and the visual image of Libra being associated with a balance as well as one other point I will discuss in the following section make the Sign of Libra very much associated with balance, harmony, peace, comparison, and fairness.  Libra is often thought of as a great counselor, advising us to step outside of our personal biases and see things through the eyes of others and "walk a mile in their shoes".  This balance is also seen as a symbol of moderation, which works with Libra quite well as he enjoys to distance himself away from extremes and excesses, this not only makes him more comfortable with himself and the environment he puts himself in, but also makes him more socially acceptable, which is necessary for a Sign that seeks to be approved.  Unfortunately, the negative side of this Sign is seen in a similar manner, Libra is often extremely indecisive, bouncing back and forth between two ideas, it's as if there is a see-saw in his mind, while the good news is he will often become very, very fixed in his decision once he has made it, the bad news is that it will take him a long time to make that decision as he will continually question it to make sure that that is the proper conclusion.  Through the need to be accepted by others, it is often thought that Libra is shallow and gullible and he may very well be if he isn't careful as he can be easily pleased by a pleasant visual presentation, so if something looks good, he feels it must be, which isn't the case.  While trying to keep things balanced, Libra has a problem dealing with emotional situations and be much more willing to brush it away and get away from it then seeking to deal with it.

As far as other significations go, Libra governs the kidneys, lower back, and reproductive organs in the body.  He is also significant of all illness and diseases that occur within these areas of the body, including (as Lilly writes) "all diseases or the stone or gravel in the reins of the back, kidneys, heats and diseases in the loins or haunches, impostumes, or ulcers in the reins, kidneys, or bladder, weakness in the back, and corruption of the blood."  In more modern terms, Libra signifies diseases such as kidney stones, diabetes, sexual diseases, inflammation and ulcers in those areas of the anatomy signified by the Sign, and addictive tendencies in their ability to break the balance and overindulge.  Places signified by Libra are any places off the ground (as is the case with all air signs), it also represents ground near sawmills or barns or somewhere where wood is cut and stacked.  Sides of hills, tops of mountains, sandy and gravelly fields, second stories of houses, and rooms inside of one another.

Stars

While the association with the equinox and the symbolism of the balance is often cited as reasons for this Signs association with balance, equality, and fairness another seemingly forgotten reason is the stars contained within the constellation itself have an effect on this.  Ptolemy refers to this constellation - in keeping with the Greek tradition - as the claws of the scorpion, saying that the ones in the extremities are of the influence of Jupiter and Mercury, while those in the middle have an influence of Saturn and Mars.

As you can see, the two chief stars of the constellation are Zubeneschamali and Zubenelgenubi.  Zubeneschamali is Arabic for "the price to be received" and is a very benefic star and its proximity to the constellation Virgo (as opposed to Scorpio on the other side) makes half of this constellation benefic.  The other star, Zubenelgenubi, is Arabic for "the price to be paid" and is a very malevolent star that keeps more in accord with the nature of Scorpio and the malefic planets, which would make the other half of the constellation evil as well.  So it's very interesting that a constellation that is associated with balance and harmony forms an opposition within itself of the nature of good (represented by the benevolent northern star Zubeneschamali) and evil (represented by the malevolent southern star Zubenelgenubi).  Also, the later half of the Sign Libra is associated with a particularly malevolent part of the Zodiac called the Via Combustia (the Burnt Path, this also extends into the first half of Scorpio) and that is specifically due to the reign of Zubenelgenubi in the half of the constellation that lies closer to Scorpio.

Dignities and Degree Influences

Venus is said to be in her domicile in the Sign of Libra due to the friendly sextile aspect cast between its cusp the cusp of Cancer/Leo.  Venus is the lesser benefic, and so is a fortunate planet, this benevolent planet is also a friend to the luminaries Sol and Luna, and so the friendly aspect links them.  Libra is the exaltation of Saturn due to the length of darkness beginning to increase when Sol is in this Sign, it is the depression of Sol for the same reason, as he spends less time in the sky during this time of the year.  Below are the degree influences according to Ptolemy and Lilly:
