Bereits jetzt]]></description>

<p style="text-align:center;"><a href="http://mikiorbe.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/cvsbig.gif"><img class="size-full wp-image-163 aligncenter" title="cvsbig" src="http://mikiorbe.wordpress.com/files/2008/10/cvsbig.gif" alt="" width="259" height="350" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align:center;"><code>cvs [cvs-options] cvs-command [command-options] [command-args]</code></p>
<p style="text-align:center;"><code>cvs -d /var/lib/cvsd/tcymu init</code></p>
<p style="text-align:center;"><code>cvsd-passwd /var/lib/cvsd/tcymu +tcymu</code></p>
<p style="text-align:center;"><code>cvs -d :pserver:user@server:/repository login</code></p>
<p style="text-align:center;">cvs <code>-d :pserver:user@server:/repositoryco -l .</code></p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://stefanomatic.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/proftpd.png"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-88" title="proftpd" src="http://stefanomatic.wordpress.com/files/2008/10/proftpd.png" alt="" width="215" height="92" /></a></p>
<p>In the last 48 hours I performed the installation of a large ftp/stp/ssh server; everything works ok except that, for some obscure reasons, I cannot deny to a connected user the access of the directories' list; I've tried PureFtpd, Vsftpd, Proftpd and all the instructions related to chrooting an user by adding commands in the various configuration files...Don't know why but it didn't work!!It never happened before...So I think about another solution and...Voilà, ultrafast <em>Ubuntu</em> server with Proftpd and the hi-power of <a href="http://sublimation.org/scponly/wiki/index.php/Main_Page">scponly</a>:</p>
<p>1 - Install a Ubuntu server (preferably 8.04 or 8.10, for immediately install ssh server during the first process)</p>
<p>2 - Make a user during installation and leave all other settings by default</p>
<p>3 - Give to your server a static ip (sometimes ifconfig sucks, just in case install webmin and change the network from it using your browser) and do a <em>sudo apt-get update</em></p>
<p>4 - Let's do <em>sudo apt-get install scponly</em></p>
<p>5 - Immediately reconfigure the software for the chroot version with <em>sudo dpkg-reconfigure -plow scponly</em> and answer "YES" to the menu</p>
<p>6 - Go to /usr/share/doc/scponly/setup_chroot and <em>sudo gunzip</em> the .gz file inside the directory</p>
<p>7 - Do <em>sudo chmod + x setup_chroot.sh </em>and launch it with <em>sudo ./setup_chroot.sh</em></p>
<p>8 - Follow the instructions and add a totally new user (choosing the home and the incoming directory, the only one where the user can write!)</p>
<p>9 - Do <em>sudo apt-get install proftpd</em> and configure it by editing the /etc/proftpd/proftpd.conf (google for the configuration, but it's sufficient to edit the name of the server, uncomment "DefaultRoot" and few others) and let's restart it with <em>sudo /etc/init.d/proftpd restart </em></p>
<p>10 - Log in with some sftp client like <a href="http://filezilla-project.org/">Filezilla</a> to the hostname on port 22 with the username and password of the scponly user. Voilà, you see few directories, you cannot go anywhere and the only interesting thing is to up/down to the incoming dir;-)</p>

<p><a href="http://saitonetwork.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/the-noise-forms1.jpg"><img src="http://saitonetwork.wordpress.com/files/2008/10/the-noise-forms1.jpg?w=300" alt="" title="the-noise-forms1" width="300" height="189" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1122" /></a></p>
<p>The Mega Man of Star Force 3 web site has been updated with news about the noise forms, it's pretty much what we already know about except there cool images to go with it. Click <a href="http://www.capcom.co.jp/ryusei3/satellite.html">HERE</a> to go to the Satellite Server and view the forms above! When you go there and click the image that you see above, click on one of the forms, when you do you are brought to the Noise form information screen, there you can click on different Noise forms, and each Noise form has 10 different mixed Noise forms.(PLUS there are 51 Noise forms per version, so 51 + 51 = a Grand total OF 102!!)</p>
<p><a href="http://saitonetwork.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/all-the-forms1.jpg"><img src="http://saitonetwork.wordpress.com/files/2008/10/all-the-forms1.jpg?w=227" alt="" title="all-the-forms1" width="227" height="300" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1102" /></a> </p>
<p><a href="http://saitonetwork.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/all-the-forms-2.jpg"><img src="http://saitonetwork.wordpress.com/files/2008/10/all-the-forms-2.jpg?w=272" alt="" title="all-the-forms-2" width="272" height="300" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1118" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://saitonetwork.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/all-the-forms-3.jpg"><img src="http://saitonetwork.wordpress.com/files/2008/10/all-the-forms-3.jpg?w=272" alt="" title="all-the-forms-3" width="272" height="300" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1103" /></a> </p>

<p><a href="http://saitonetwork.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/all-the-forms-5.jpg"><img src="http://saitonetwork.wordpress.com/files/2008/10/all-the-forms-5.jpg?w=272" alt="" title="all-the-forms-5" width="272" height="300" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1105" /></a> </p>
<p>Well these list the forms and which version they belong to, pretty cool so it's now for your eyes to believe, in case anyone has had confusion between which form belongs to which version. </p>
<p><a href="http://saitonetwork.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/conversion.jpg"><img src="http://saitonetwork.wordpress.com/files/2008/10/conversion.jpg?w=299" alt="" title="conversion" width="299" height="283" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1106" /></a> </p>
<p><a href="http://saitonetwork.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/conversion-2.jpg"><img src="http://saitonetwork.wordpress.com/files/2008/10/conversion-2.jpg?w=300" alt="" title="conversion-2" width="300" height="224" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1107" /></a> </p>
<p><a href="http://saitonetwork.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/conversion-4.jpg"><img src="http://saitonetwork.wordpress.com/files/2008/10/conversion-4.jpg?w=274" alt="" title="conversion-4" width="274" height="300" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1108" /></a> </p>
<p><a href="http://saitonetwork.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/conversion-5.jpg"><img src="http://saitonetwork.wordpress.com/files/2008/10/conversion-5.jpg?w=206" alt="" title="conversion-5" width="206" height="300" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1109" /></a> </p>
<p>This is how to mix the forms, it works pretty much like last time, you use a brothers card in battle with a form you already have and you will gain new powerful forms, above Mega Man gains the Widespread attack after transforming with a second noise form. </p>
<p>Now for the Wallpaper, featuring Mega Man and the Noise Forms: </p>
<p><a href="http://saitonetwork.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/a-new-wallpaper.jpg"><img src="http://saitonetwork.wordpress.com/files/2008/10/a-new-wallpaper.jpg" alt="" title="a-new-wallpaper" width="256" height="192" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1110" /></a> </p>
<p><a href="http://www.capcom.co.jp/ryusei3/img_wavestation/wallpaper/ryusei3_15_1600_1200.jpg">1600 X 1200 </p>
<p><a href="http://www.capcom.co.jp/ryusei3/img_wavestation/wallpaper/ryusei3_15_1280_960.jpg">1280 X 960  </p>
<p><a href="http://www.capcom.co.jp/ryusei3/img_wavestation/wallpaper/ryusei3_15_1024_768.jpg">1024 X 768 </a> </p>
<p>Ah well that is it for now, will post if more comes out =D. </p>

<description><![CDATA[I begin to wonder whether I have too many computers at home. At the last count, my family uses four ]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I begin to wonder whether I have too many computers at home. At the last count, my family uses four computers on a regular basis, which of course begs the question of exactly what the other 6.5 are doing... I've decided to make an attempt to justify to myself my possession of the 10.5 computers living (in some cases not) alongside me, a technophilic teenager.</p>
<p><a href="http://gedanken451.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/brawny.jpg"><img src="http://gedanken451.wordpress.com/files/2008/10/brawny.jpg" alt="" title="brawny" width="400" height="300" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-146" /></a></p>
<p>First of all, the family computer - 5-6 years old, Windows XP. It's used on a daily basis by my parents, and occasionally by myself. It seems to have become the central computer since all our DAS is connected to it, and it's the one physically closest to the router (interestingly it's also the only computer which is linked to the main router via a single cable - just about everything else is connected through an ethernet switch).</p>
<p><a href="http://gedanken451.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/btcomp.jpg"><img src="http://gedanken451.wordpress.com/files/2008/10/btcomp.jpg" alt="" title="btcomp" width="400" height="533" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-147" /></a></p>
<p>My own desktop is probably about 4 years old now and still serving me pretty well - when we bought it, a config with 1.5GB RAM and an Intel Pentium D 2.8GHz processor was pretty impressive. I use it for just about all my Windows software and it's rigorously maintained, using the likes of TuneUp Utilities and CCleaner. It's also running XP, arguably the most compatible and programmed-for OS around. I've optimised it quite heavily for performance - relatively minimal yet pleasing visual effects and faster, more efficient free software alternatives to default crapware such as <a href="http://gedanken451.wordpress.com/2008/08/28/superior-software-alternatives-part-1-itunes/">foobar</a>, <a href="http://gedanken451.wordpress.com/2008/08/29/superior-software-alternatives-part-2-windows-live-messenger/">Pidgin</a>, the Mozilla suite and AVG Free.</p>
<p><a href="http://gedanken451.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/btlaptop.jpg"><img src="http://gedanken451.wordpress.com/files/2008/10/btlaptop.jpg" alt="" title="btlaptop" width="400" height="300" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-148" /></a></p>
<p>The antithesis of my desktop, so to speak, is my Laptop: if my desktop is D, my laptop is D'. Optimisation goes straight out the window immediately as it was shipped with Vista and I was too lazy to install something decent, and besides it's a Toshiba Satellite A300 with 3GB RAM and a speedy Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 processor so it can theoretically cope with pretty much anything I might care to throw at it - including Vista, excluding games. I use it, obviously, for all mobile computing needs, and also as a 'programming computer' - it's the only machine at home with C#.NET installed.</p>
<p><a href="http://gedanken451.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/btdebian-btoldxp.jpg"><img src="http://gedanken451.wordpress.com/files/2008/10/btdebian-btoldxp.jpg" alt="" title="btdebian-btoldxp" width="400" height="533" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-149" /></a></p>
<p>The last of the regularly used computers is my Debian server - the white Compaq. An ancient machine, it boasts about 500MB RAM and a processor whose clock speed is probably best measured in tens of MHz, but it does the job of <a href="http://gedanken451.wordpress.com/2008/09/28/big-site-on-my-server/">hosting a Wordpress blog</a> with the help of the wonderful stress-reliever XAMPP.</p>
<p>Next to it is the Dell Optiplex workstation (WinXP), which is used for road testing software and port scanning other computers on my network using Nessus in search of security holes.</p>
<p><a href="http://gedanken451.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/compaq-akeler-server.jpg"><img src="http://gedanken451.wordpress.com/files/2008/10/compaq-akeler-server.jpg" alt="" title="compaq-akeler-server" width="400" height="533" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-150" /></a></p>
<p>Compaq: This one runs Windows 2K and is the same model as the Debian server. I tend to use it occasionally to test software in a Win2K environment and experiment with LiveCDs.</p>
<p>Huge server: A wonderful piece of history, definitely worth the ~0.25 square metre of floorspace it occupies. It unfortunately has no HDD and seems to use nothing but SCSI and tape drives (oh the days of tape drives...), neither of which I possess, so only boots off liveCDs - Sabayon Mini and Knoppix are therefore its OSs of choice.</p>
<p><a href="http://gedanken451.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/old-timer.jpg"><img src="http://gedanken451.wordpress.com/files/2008/10/old-timer.jpg" alt="" title="old-timer" width="400" height="300" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-151" /></a></p>
<p>Our old computer was a Time, and was built for Windows 95. That pretty much says it all - the wires protruding from its rear end are testimony to its current function: its PSU provides DC for my electronics projects.</p>
<p><a href="http://gedanken451.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/tecra.jpg"><img src="http://gedanken451.wordpress.com/files/2008/10/tecra.jpg" alt="" title="tecra" width="400" height="533" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-152" /></a></p>
<p>Toshiba Tecras used to look like this...</p>
<p><a href="http://gedanken451.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/akeler-comp.jpg"><img src="http://gedanken451.wordpress.com/files/2008/10/akeler-comp.jpg" alt="" title="akeler-comp" width="400" height="533" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-153" /></a></p>
<p>...and HPs used to look like this. The HP is the only computer downstairs so is used as an excuse for a home entertainment system - it just about managed to install XP so can't be all *that* bad.</p>
<p><a href="http://gedanken451.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/computer-parts.jpg"><img src="http://gedanken451.wordpress.com/files/2008/10/computer-parts.jpg" alt="" title="computer-parts" width="400" height="300" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-154" /></a></p>
<p>And finally, the half computer: the picture really says it all. I think it was made by Time.</p>
<p>You may now be wondering how rich I must be to own so many computers. Allow me to surprise you - we only spent money on four of the above: my desktop, the family computer, my laptop and the old Time computer (the PSU one). Both Compaqs (including my server) and the old Dell were given to me by the school as old machines when they replaced the computers, my dad's company also threw out some machines: the huge server and the HP, and my friend also contributed 1.5 computers to my collection - the Tecra and the, erm, box of components.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Huh?  Not C#!!! - What's all this "Rant in C Sharp" business then!?  Well, sometimes you have to be flexible in your job - well, lets just say we should be 'language ambivalent'.</p>
<p>This is a VERY simple attempt to show show how to create a web service in Eclipse using Axis.  There is also some client code to show how you would interact with that web service.  For some reason I had to delve into a bazillion websites and scour a million books before I could make some sort of sense of it all - so just so you don't have the same trouble - I have decided to publish it (well actually, it's so that I don't forget either).</p>
<p>(Using Java 1.5)</p>
<h2><strong>Create Basic Web Service</strong></h2>
<ol>
<li>Create new Dynamic Web Project.</li>
<li>Create new Java class (call it "DoesMagic").</li>
<li>Add method like this (perhaps):</li>
</ol>
<pre style="padding-left:60px;"><span style="color:#0000ff;">public class DoesMagic
{
    public String doBasicStuff(String message)
    {
        return "This is your message: " + message;
    }
}</span></pre>
<p style="padding-left:30px;">4. Right click on class and, New -&#62; Other -&#62; Web Services -&#62; Web Service, you should get a form like the one below:</p>
<p style="padding-left:30px;"><a href="http://rantincsharp.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/webservice.gif"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-20" title="webservice" src="http://rantincsharp.wordpress.com/files/2008/10/webservice.gif" alt="" width="375" height="530" /></a></p>
<p style="padding-left:30px;">
<p style="padding-left:30px;">
<p style="padding-left:30px;">
<p style="padding-left:30px;">
<p style="padding-left:30px;">
<p style="padding-left:30px;">
<p style="padding-left:30px;">
<p style="padding-left:30px;">
<p style="padding-left:30px;">
<p style="padding-left:30px;">
<p style="padding-left:30px;">
<p style="padding-left:30px;">
<p style="padding-left:30px;">
<p style="padding-left:30px;">
<p style="padding-left:30px;">
<p style="padding-left:30px;">
<p style="padding-left:30px;">
<p style="padding-left:30px;">
<p style="padding-left:30px;">This will create all the necessary files to be able to publish your class as a web service.  If you want you can also create a client automatically by moving the slider - but what it generates may be hard to understand at first glance, so I have written a simple example of client code (see later on...).</p>
<p style="padding-left:30px;">5.  In order to run the web service - just,  Run as -&#62; Run on Server.  Once the web service is running and alive on Tomcat - then we should be able to use it via some client code (see next bit).</p>
<p style="padding-left:30px;">
<h2 style="padding-left:30px;">Create Basic Web Service Client</h2>
<p style="padding-left:30px;">
<p style="padding-left:30px;">Must create a project that has all the axis.jar type stuff in the WebContent folder - this can usually be made by generating a client application via the above wizard - you don't have to use all the auto generated classes to access your web service, just do the following:</p>
<p style="padding-left:30px;">1.  Create a new Java Class - call it TestClient.</p>
<p style="padding-left:30px;">2.  Make it a main class, and enter the following code:</p>
<pre style="padding-left:30px;"><span style="color:#0000ff;">import javax.xml.namespace.QName;
import org.apache.axis.client.Call;
import org.apache.axis.client.Service;</span></pre>
<pre style="padding-left:60px;"><span style="color:#0000ff;">public class TestClient {</span></pre>
<pre style="padding-left:60px;"><span style="color:#0000ff;">public static void main(String [] args)
{
    try{
       String endpoint = "</span><span style="color:#0000ff;">http://localhost:8080/TestWebService/services/DoesMagic</span><span style="color:#0000ff;">";
       Service service = new Service();

</span><span style="color:#0000ff;">       Call call = (Call) service.createCall();
       call.setTargetEndpointAddress( new java.net.URL(endpoint) );
       call.setOperationName( new QName("</span><span style="color:#0000ff;">http://testPackage.fc.com</span><span style="color:#0000ff;">", "</span><span style="color:#0000ff;">doBasicStuff</span><span style="color:#0000ff;">") );
       String ret = (String) call.invoke( new Object[] {"</span><span style="color:#0000ff;">Hello World</span><span style="color:#0000ff;">"} );
       System.out.println(ret);
       }
       catch(Exception e){
           System.err.println(e.toString());
       }
}
}</span></pre>
<p style="padding-left:30px;">3. As you can see I have highlighted in red the main bits you have to change.  Go to your web service project you made before and look at the source code for the wsdl file that has been created.  It's in the folder WebContent -&#62; wsdl.  Inside there you will find a wsdl that is the same name as your class.</p>
<p style="padding-left:30px;">4. You need to look at the wsdl and find the endpoint - which looks similar to:</p>
<pre style="padding-left:30px;"><span style="color:#0000ff;">"<span style="color:#ff0000;">http://localhost:8080/TestWebService/services/DoesMagic</span>"</span></pre>
<p style="padding-left:30px;">and you need to get the namespace and the method name you want to invoke  (as shown above, should be in a very similar format).</p>
<p style="padding-left:30px;">5. In this case, when we get to the point that the call.invoke command is being issued it is casting the result to a String and we are sending in a String called "Hello World" - this should create a message in the console like "This is your message: Hello World".</p>
<p style="padding-left:30px;">6. To test the class, just run the project as a Java Application and you should see the result in the Console printed out.</p>
<p style="padding-left:30px;">
<h2 style="padding-left:30px;">Conclusion</h2>
<p style="padding-left:30px;">This is not indepth - this may not even be 100% correct, but it just gives you a taste of what can be achieved - it's up to you now to read up more on Java Web Services.  Good luck !</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Die unendliche Geschichte geht weiter -.- (<a href="http://drazraeltod.wordpress.com/?s=Homeserver+Geh%C3%A4use">Teile</a>: <a href="http://drazraeltod.wordpress.com/2008/09/05/homeserver-0/">0</a> <a href="http://drazraeltod.wordpress.com/2008/09/19/homeservergehause1/">1</a> <a href="http://drazraeltod.wordpress.com/2008/09/22/homeservergehause2/">2</a> <a href="http://drazraeltod.wordpress.com/2008/09/22/homeservergehause3/">3</a> <a href="http://drazraeltod.wordpress.com/2008/10/03/homeservergehause4/">4</a>).

<description><![CDATA[Hyper-V using a set of integrated management tool provides a dynamic, reliable, and scalable platfor]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hyper-V using a set of integrated management tool provides a dynamic, reliable, and scalable platform for virtualization, and management of virtual and physical resources, which allows you to create agile and dynamic data center. In support of server virtualization in each of the components are integrated in Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V feature.</p>
<p>Hyper-V can be realized on the ability of the main ones being: server consolidation, business continuity and disaster recovery, testing and development, dynamic data center, improve the structure of a new, broad operating system support for symmetric multi-processor support, network load balancing , Scalable capacity, rapid migration, scalability, and so constitute the key to its function. In 2007 compared to the relatively hot WMware, first of all I think its virtualization architecture is different aspects of security beyond. Hyper-V micro-kernel architecture, Hypervisor running on the bottom of the highest-level privileges, Microsoft called the ring -1, the virtual machine operating system kernel and drivers running in ring 0, the application is running in ring 3, the use of This architecture does not need the use of BT technology complex, so security has been further enhanced.<!--more--></p>
<p>Hyper-V due to the different location throughout Virtualization in the process of having its own unique characteristics. Any product has been approved by the main power source from the product itself, which does not contain third-party drive to streamline the structure, its structure is simple and compact, easy-to-familiar with the source code to simplify it easy for the staff to use the UE, the virtual machine with hardware-level conversion between Little more to make full use of hardware resources and hardware to support the upgrading of its multi-support system, and so is its advantage to catch up with the root causes of the former.</p>

<description><![CDATA[I finally got an apache2 server working on my laptop, after hours of (almost pointless) editing of c]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I finally got an apache2 server working on my laptop, after hours of (almost pointless) editing of configuration files, server restarts, reading Ubuntu forums[1] and googling. It was lack of all three, information, insight and luck that made this what-should-have-been simple process drawn out and painful.</p>
<p>1) Install apache2</p>
<blockquote><p><code>sudo apt-get install apache2 apache&#60;version&#62;-common apache2-mpm-worker</code></p></blockquote>
<p>The version I'm using is 2.2. To not bother about version numbers and dependencies, install apache2 using Synaptic Package Manager</p>
<p>2) Open your browser and type</p>
<blockquote><p><code>http://localhost/</code></p></blockquote>
<p>It should display the page index.html located in /var/www/, with a message "It works!" Proceed only this step is successful.</p>
<p>3) Create a new user, say, myserver</p>
<blockquote><p><code>sudo adduser myserver</code></p></blockquote>
<p>This step is necessary because you have to give apache2 access to folders /home/, /home/user/ and a folder called /home/user/public_html/. It is prudent to use a dummy user like myserver instead of yourself.</p>
<p>4) Create a folder called public_html/ in /home/myserver/</p>
<blockquote><p><code>sudo mkdir /home/myserver/public_html/</code></p></blockquote>
<p>Create your web page and put it in this folder under the name index.html (apache2 searches for an .html file with this name). If you want to host a directory, simply put the directory here.</p>
<p>5) Give apache access permissions to this folder <strong>hierarchy</strong></p>
<blockquote><p><code>sudo chmod -R 775 /home/myserver/</code></p></blockquote>
<p>To make editing of the .html files easier (so that you don't need to use sudo everytime) change the myuser/ hierarchy in your group, before running the above sudo chmod command. (I'm not sure how safe this is, though)</p>
<blockquote><p><code>sudo chgrp -R <em>your_group_name</em> /home/myserver/<br />
sudo chmod -R 775 /home/myserver/</code></p></blockquote>
<p>6) Enable user directory module in apache</p>
<blockquote><p><code>sudo a2enmod userdir</code></p></blockquote>
<p>Now the files userdir.conf and userdir.load will be created in /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/ folder. Some websites suggest creating a link in the mods-enabled/ folder to the same files kept in /etc/apache2/mods-available/ folder (instead of using a2enmod) but I read that this method could be less safe.</p>
<p>7) Open the file /etc/apache2/httpd.conf and add the following line to it</p>
<blockquote><p><code>ServerName localhost</code></p></blockquote>
<p>Later on, 'localhost' can be replaced with the actual name of your site.</p>
<p>8) Restart the server</p>
<blockquote><p><code>sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart<br />
</code><code>sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 force-reload<br />
</code></p></blockquote>
<p>(I don't know if this is a bug, but sometimes, just restarting or force-reloading doesn't cause the changes made to be registered)</p>
<p>9) Open your browser and test the server with:</p>
<blockquote><p><code>http://localhost/~myserver/</code></p></blockquote>
<p>It displays either the /home/myserver/public_html/index.html file, if it exists, or displays the public_html/ folder hierarchy.[2]</p>
<p>10) Next steps include port forwarding in your router, changing listening port (if required), registering in a DNS site like dyndns.com, fiddling around with a few more settings and you have a web site! This, for later, in this post.</p>
<p>[1] This was done on Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Hardy Heron</p>
<p>[2] In case its still not working, go to the folder /etc/apache2/sites-available/, make a backup of the file default. Open this file with a text editor with root permissions.</p>
<blockquote><p><code>sudo cp default default.OLD<br />
sudo gedit default &#38;</code></p></blockquote>
<p>The default directory where apache searches for your web page is in /var/www/. We change this default directory to /home/myserver/public_html/ at two places, as highlighted below:</p>
<blockquote><p><code>NameVirtualHost *<br />
&#60;VirtualHost *&#62;<br />
ServerAdmin webmaster@localhost</code></p>
<p>DocumentRoot <strong>/home/myserver/public_html/</strong><br />
&#60;Directory /&#62;<br />
Options FollowSymLinks<br />
AllowOverride None<br />
&#60;/Directory&#62;<br />
&#60;Directory<strong> /home/myserver/public_html/</strong>&#62;<br />
Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews<br />
AllowOverride None<br />
Order allow,deny<br />
allow from all<br />
&#60;/Directory&#62;</p></blockquote>
<p>Now restart the server as in step 8), open your browser and test the server with:</p>
<blockquote><p><code>http://localhost/</code></p></blockquote>

<p>A website is hosted on a computer system known as a web server/web hosting, also called an HTTP server, and these terms can also refer to the software that runs on these system and that retrieves and delivers the Web pages in response to requests from the website users. Apache is the most commonly used Web server software (according to Netcraft statistics) and Microsoft's Internet Information Server (IIS) is also commonly used.</p>
<p>In information technology, Website is one of important thing as a promotion tools, everyone can have a website, like personal website (blog), commercial website (.com, .biz, etc), government website (.go.xx), and non-profit organization (.org).</p>
<p>A website is a collection of Web pages, images, videos or other digital assets that is hosted on one or more web servers/web hosting , usually accessible via the Internet. </p>
<p>A web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to provide their own website accessible via the World Wide Web. </p>
<p>Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server they own for use by their clients as well as providing Internet connectivity, typically in a data center. </p>
<p>Web hosts can also provide data center space and connectivity to the Internet for servers they do not own to be located in their data center, called colocation.</p>
<p>Hosting uptime refers to the percentage of time the host is accessible via the internet. Many providers state that they aim for a 99.9% uptime, but there may be server restarts and planned (or unplanned) maintenance in any hosting environment.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A while back I was involved in developing a web site for a Domain and Hosting reseller. In that project I needed to create a "Find A Domain"  section in which the customer could check to see if a domain name exists.</p>
<p>I made a exhaustive research and figured out that each Who is server maintains a list of certain domain types. For example,  Whois.net can whois only .COM, .NET and .ORG domains.</p>
<p>Many posts over the internet, including blogs.msdn.com,  also says that to query a who is database one should connect to the whois server through a TCP/IP conenction (usually via port 43).</p>
<p>All the above issues make Whois action fairly difficult to perform. Luckily, today I came across a very nice web site which provides a Whois SOAP web service.  To see the details of the service check this link:</p>
<p><a href="http://www.webservicex.net/whois.asmx?op=GetWhoIS" target="_blank">http://www.webservicex.net/whois.asmx?op=GetWhoIS</a></p>
<p>This web service searches all the who is databases to look up the domain name you provide. Therefore, you will not need to search several who is databases.</p>
<p>To Whois a domain name, you should pass a 'hostname' parameter to the service:</p>
<p><span style="color:#ff00ff;">http://www.webservicex.net/whois.asmx?Hostname=Microsoft.com</span></p>
<p>You can use this web service simply via a GET or a POST method as well as making a reference to it via Visual Studio and call its GetWhoIS metho. As I mentioned in the previous post (about REST web services), I prefer to get the who is answer using XElement.Load method. For example we may write the following method for whoising:</p>
<p><span style="color:#ff0000;">public static string WhoIs(string hostname)<br />
{<br />
XElement WhoisResult = XElement.Load(</span></p>
<p><span style="color:#ff0000;"> "http://www.webservicex.net/whois.asmx/GetWhoIS?HostName=microsoft.com");<br />
return WhoisResult.ToString();<br />
}</span></p>
<p>Each Who is server returns a different response. Therefore, to develop a method which indicates wheather a domain name exits or not, we should look for a common string value in the WhoIS response. For example the 'NAME SERVER' seems to be a common string. There fore, a domain lookup function can be written this way:</p>
<p><span style="color:#ff0000;">public static bool IsDomainTaken(string hostname)<br />
{<br />
return WhoIs(hostname).ToUpper().Contains("NAME SERVER");<br />
}</span></p>
<p>As I told you, this web service seems to query several WhoIS server, thus the GetWhoIS method is a little bit time consuming.</p>
<p><strong>P.S. Try to Whois Microsoft.com, the result is pretty funny:</strong></p>
<pre><span style="color:#800000;">Whois Server Version 2.0

Domain names in the .com and .net domains can now be registered
with many different competing registrars. Go to http://www.internic.net
for detailed information.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[[caption id="attachment_313" align="alignleft" width="128" caption="Kalyway kernel panic"]<a href="http://macbitz.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/kernel_panic1.png"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-313" title="Kalyway kernel panic" src="http://macbitz.wordpress.com/files/2008/10/kernel_panic1.png?w=128" alt="Kalyway kernel panic" width="128" height="69" /></a>[/caption]
<p>I am still searching for that elusive 'server' that's going to be a little more Apple-friendly than my Windows 2003 Server machine up in the loft. The <strong>Kalyway 10.5.2</strong> exercise was interesting but seemed stricken with some fatal flaw. It stopped responding and when I went to investigate, I discovered the machine had suffered a kernel panic. Over the course of the next hour or so, every time I rebooted, the machine had a kernel panic within 5 to 10 minutes. I'm sure that with a bit more patience and effort I could have worked through this, but as a robust system for taking backups to it wasn't looking good. Time to move on...</p>
<p>Enter <a title="FreeNAS" href="http://www.freenas.org/" target="_blank"><strong>FreeNAS</strong></a>.</p>
<p><a href="http://macbitz.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/picture-32.png"><img class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-315" title="FreeNAS" src="http://macbitz.wordpress.com/files/2008/10/picture-32.png?w=128" alt="" width="128" height="86" /></a>What could be better? A free, Linux based OS that does nothing but share out disk space and that supports AFP. It's a 22Mb download - that's right, just twenty two meg. Burn the iso image to a CD, pop it in the drive and you're away. I opted to install it on one of the hard disks in my 'server' rather than repeatedly boot off the Live CD, and installation took just a couple of minutes.</p>
<p>The server sets itself up with a default address of 192.168.1.250 and configuration is then done by browsing to that address from another machine and using the Web GUI. Everything you need is in a very good <a title="Setup and User Guide" href="http://www.freenas.org/downloads/docs/user-docs/FreeNAS-SUG.pdf" target="_blank">Setup and User Guide</a>, and if you follow this you really can't go wrong. All I had to do was provide a couple of settings, format and mount my 500Gb disk, then enable AFP and share it. This really is a clever piece of work - the Web GUI is pretty intuitive, and the OS itself has a tiny footprint, so you could run it on pretty much anything. My next job is to 'soak test' the setup by copying 400Gb or so of data to it and seeing how it performs over the next few days.</p>
<p>My only advice is to think carefully about what file system to use when formatting your data disks. FreeNAS<a href="http://macbitz.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/picture-43.png"><img class="alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-317" title="FreeNAS" src="http://macbitz.wordpress.com/files/2008/10/picture-43.png?w=128" alt="" width="128" height="54" /></a> defaults to it's own 'UFS' scheme. That's no problem in itself, except that should the worst ever happen and you need to transfer your disks to another machine, you might be stuck being able to read the disks unless you can install FreeNAS on the new host. FreeNAS does allow you to use FAT32, EXT2 or even SoftwareRAID, although a bit worryingly there's a warning on the Disk Format screen that says:</p>
<pre><span class="vexpl">UFS is the NATIVE file format for FreeBSD (the
underlying OS of FreeNAS). Attempting to use other file formats such as
FAT, FAT32, EXT2, EXT3, or NTFS can result in unpredictable results,
file corruption, and loss of data!</span></pre>
<p>Possible file corruption is really something I'd rather avoid if it's all the same to you.</p>
