OFDM has developed into a popular scheme for wideband digital communication, whether wireless or over copper wires, used in applications such as digital television and audio broadcasting, wireless networking and broadband internet access.

The primary advantage of OFDM over single-carrier schemes is its ability to cope with severe channel conditions — for example, attenuation of high frequencies in a long copper wire, narrowband interference and frequency-selective fading due to multipath — without complex equalization filters. Channel equalization is simplified because OFDM may be viewed as using many slowly-modulated narrowband signals rather than one rapidly-modulated wideband signal. The low symbol rate makes the use of a guard interval between symbols affordable, making it possible to handle time-spreading and eliminate intersymbol interference (ISI). This mechanism also facilitates the design of single-frequency networks, where several adjacent transmitters send the same signal simultaneously at the same frequency, as the signals from multiple distant transmitters may be combined constructively, rather than interfering as would typically occur in a traditional single-carrier system.

Évidemment, ils ferment la route à toute circulation, le temps de la reconstitution, afin d'avoir une vue d'ensemble, et qu'aucun indice ne leur échappe.

Ce marquage doit consister en leur "signature", ou à un point de référence, pour les diverses photos prises, et études menées sur les lieux.  À moins qu'il s'agisse d'un point où un objet précis a été trouvé.  Je ne saurais le dire.

Toujours est-il que cet accident a laissé des traces, que l'on pourrait qualifier de fumantes.  À cet endroit, l'asphalte est complètement calciné, puisqu'au moins un des véhicules impliqué a pris feu.  Dans l'ovale vert, que j'ai ajouté, et qui ne fait pas partie des marques de l'enquête, un trou de plusieurs centimètres de profondeur.

Dans un autre ordre d'idées, l'A-20, dans le secteur de Rimouski, affiche aussi certains panneaux bizarres, que ce soit parce que relativement nouveaux, particuliers à l'endroit, ou encore parce que l'on ne s'attend pas à les voir en ces lieux.  Voyons voir.

Celui-ci, installé en direction est, avant la sortie 610 (route 232, chemin Sainte-Odile), indique que la Montée Industrielle-et-commerciale (c'est le nom de la route) est interdite aux camions quand les feux clignotent, et que, le cas échéant, l'accès doit se faire par la route 232.  Je présume qu'il doit s'agir d'une mesure de précaution, par mauvais temps.

Tout de suite après l'entrée, depuis la route 298, à Sainte-Luce, on voit ce panneau, qui indique que des travaux sont en cours.  En effet, on y construit un passage à cervidés.  Est-ce à dire que malgré toutes les études et contre-études effectuées, personne n'était au courant qu'il y avait des orignaux, dans ce coin?

Ce nouveau passage est probablement le fruit d'une nouvelle technologie, que l'on voit apparaître, le long de certaines autoroutes rurales, soit celle des clôtures électrifiées, que l'on peut voir, au bas de l'emprise de la route.  Aussi, on informe les gens que si un cervidé (orignal, chevreuil) parvient quand même à s'introduire dans l'emprise, on doit le signaler, en composant le #0511, sur son téléphone cellulaire.

Ce billet ne vous montre que la partie ouverte de l'A-20, soit celle qui se rend jusqu'à la route 298, à Sainte-Luce.  Un autre tronçon, toujours en super-2, est présentement en construction, celui-là jusqu'à Mont-Joli.  J'y reviendrai dans un autre billet, parce que, vous vous en doutez bien, j'ai pris quelques photos.

Over the course of my life I have begun to lose faith in humanity. Humans for the most part are really not humane to each other. People scream curses at each other in grocery lines, on the freeway and generally any time they don't get their way. Curse words are really the least of what most people do but there is one thing that I have recently seen just a few times (two to be exact) that gives me a shred of hope that the best thing for humanity is actually not atomic annihilation.

This thing that renewed my hope is pretty simple, it is a turn signal. Not just a turn signal really but a hand signal like those done by bikers that don't want to be run over by rude drivers but this turn signal was issued from within an SUV (both were SUVs actually) that apparently lost the function of its lights.

Wow, most people wont even put their signals on when they have them. They usually just merge and if you hit them, its your fault.

Well there it is, you may think thats pretty stupid but to me, someone willing to stick their hand out of their window to give something helpful rather than a rude gesture is pretty significant.

the word "communication" doesn't settle well with me.

maybe it's that i "communicate" with lots of people, but feel so alone during these summer months. i'm practically a castaway here in anaheim, where lots of once-familiar people and places have made their homes in my past.

maybe it's that i "communicate" with most people via text, via facebook. facebook's great and all, but doesn't it just suck the life out of friends with funny giggles, unique facial expressions, and resonant voices? no matter how often I chat with friends online, i always end up watching their life play out in pictures from afar, from "tagged" photos, from profile pics. texting and facebook are intended to make "communication" more efficient, but i can't help feeling like they're doing me a disservice, trading real laughs over phone lines with a colon & parenthesis on a screen.

or maybe it's that i've always been horribly awkward with "communication" in the initial stage of getting to know someone. what do we talk about? when do we establish good enough inside jokes? when do we label ourselves as "friends" or "a couple" or even "best friends?" i say, let's just cut the crap and talk about something real, talk about what makes us tick, what makes us incredibly happy, what makes us. because how often do we actually have those kinds of conversations?

to be honest, all the truly valuable relationships in my life don't involve that word. they involve something much deeper, called "growth." communication doesn't need growth to function properly; all it needs is a medium: an instant message, an iphone, an email. but growth, growth requires a whole array of ingredients like honesty, vulnerability, face-to-face & eye-to-eye contact.

so to all my friends who I have a real relationship with, who I've opened to on long car rides and who have opened up to me over long-distance phone signals, i am so blessed to have you in my life.

and to those friends I lack a true bond with, let's make plans.

Exemple : le mot biberon

Ce mot est un symbole, c'est un signe, un signal, un code.
Il cristallise, rassemble différents registres chez le tout petit qui ne parle pas encore.

Ce n'est pas encore le mot écrit, le « mot-graphisme », déjà si « intellectuel »

Son symbolisme pour un tout petit est beaucoup plus primaire, beaucoup plus sensoriel, et cependant d'une incroyable richesse quant à son contenu.
Ce mot « biberon » peut être

- entendu et reconnu positivement (voix de maman ou d'un autre préparateur familier),

- deviné (aux bruits de rinçage, d'ouvertures de boîtes, aux tintements habituels),

- suggéré impérieusement par des sensations de faim,

- évoqué par la mémoire sous forme d'images-souvenirs d'objets, de sensations et de scènes d'un passé récent,

- ...

Il concerne les organes des sens nobles (la vue, l'ouïe, les plus « propres », ceux des artistes, ceux qui donnent l'impression de scanner, d'enregistrer, de percevoir sans contact obligé comme le font le goût, le toucher...) :

Je vais reprendre ce thème du mot biberon, cet exemple de « mot-valise » si plein de significations, sous forme d'un schéma assorti de commentaires. Mais pour l'instant, je galère pour une réalisation qui soit satisfaisante. Patience... (comme pour le vrai biberon qui tarde).

Plus généralement, je vais reprendre sous forme de schémas commentés cette grammaire des tout petits, pensée avant la parole, parlée et pensée à la fois dès les premiers mots, et cela aussi sous forme de schémas commentés, de code grammatical, un peu comme je faisais avec mes élèves des CE-CM de mes toutes premières classes. Ils aimaient beaucoup, et vous aussi vous allez vous régaler...

"Hvor er han dog dygtig ham Kim Larsen" . At henvise til et symbol, som står for noget der slog så mange mennesker i hjel på grusomste vis i lejre som Auschwitz og Birkenau. Det er så langt ude og jeg må nok sige den "lune Larsen" har mistet det lune på sine gamle dage. Jeg forstår godt tidligere modstands folk som selv har overlevet Auschwitz reagere mod denne kampange.

Kim Larsen siger den "personlig frihed" bliver krænker med rygelove. Jeg har hørt den så mange gange. Der er ingen der forbyder nogen at ryge i dette land.  Rygning skal blot ske ude i den friske luft eller  hjemme privat. Det er der så mange rygere der kan finde ud af det, men desværre er der en gruppen ryger der ikke kan og vil, her i blandt Kim Larsen. For Kim Larsen handler den personlig frihed tilsyneladende om retten til gøre andre til passiv rygere... 

Før rygeloven blev indført blev den personlig frihed krænket, her kunne man ikke vælge at gå på cafe, på resturant eller til koncert uden man blev tvungen til at være passiv ryger - for ikke at glemme de ansatte som stod i røgen mange timer hverdag. Havde man en lungesygdom var der to valg, at tage af sted og ligge i sengen 2-3 dagen bagefter, eller at blive hjemme. Netop rygeloven har givet os der er lungepatienter - og i øvrigt mange andre den personlig frihed - og hurra for det...

When we moved house, the theory was I could just pick up the MySky box and plug it in (there was already a satellite) and save $50.  Unfortunately, this didn't work.  I was told that I could call their helpdesk and they would be able to help get past the "poor reception" error (which is indeed what I got).  Unfortunately, the technician I spoke to couldn't do much - in fact she had to put me on hold while she looked up the MySky settings (she started out trying to fix Digital - do they not have an indicator on the customer record that shows I have MySky?) and was clearly reading from a sheet - and a slightly inaccurate sheet at that (it missed a couple of menus, although I knew where to go).

At the end of the day, the tech on the phone couldn't help.  Although I could again get to the hidden menu, I had forgotten that MySky doesn't offer a nice simple "choose the satellite" menu - instead you get to enter the frequency and angle yourself, which is information I don't have.  I'm so busy with work and unpacking that I figured that I'd just not bother trying anything else and let the tech fix it.

It turned out that it was a cable around the wrong way.  However, this isn't totally my fault - the satellite cable gets split and plugs into the MySky box twice.  One lead is white and one is black.  There are no indicators at all on the MySky box or the splitter that indicates that there is any difference between the two (no #1 and #2 or 'white' and 'black' or any markings at all).  I've unplugged and re-connected MySky many times, and must have luckily picked the same place to plug each cable in, since apparently if you get them the wrong way around you get no signal.

Couldn't the tech on the phone have mentioned this?  Even just a "try swapping the black and white cables" would have sufficed.  If I'd had more time to play around with things I would have disconnected everything and tried again, and might have randomly selected the right way around, but I didn't have time for that.  Even suggesting that, though, would have been something.

I guess they really want their $50 moving fee.  For about 5 minutes of technician time.  Bah.

Hun Sen's victory, the third since  UNTAC (United Nations Transitional Authority of Cambodia) conducted elections in 1993, carries a special significance.

It is the first election under the constitutional amendment of  March 2,  2006, requiring only a simple majority, 50 percent plus one, rather than the unwieldy two-thirds majority laid down in the Constitution adopted after the UNTAC elections.

This time, CPP won at the expense of Funcinpec, the royalist party, which had won the UNTAC-administered elections in 1993, and has now practically disappeared from the radar screen, obtaining only two seats. The main opposition party is now the Sam Rainsy Party, which gained 26 seats, three more than in 2003.

Since 2004 Cambodia has become Asia's fastest growing economy after China. Starting from a low base, average annual growth rate during 2001-2006 was 9.9 percent compared with Asean's 6.5 percent. Everywhere one can see a rapidly emerging middle class living in ever better accommodations, reflecting the construction boom and rapidly escalating land prices, while more and more families are sending their children to public and an increasing plethora of private schools and universities.

In the last 10 to 15 years, the four Fs were augmented by a rapidly growing, vibrant and dynamic domestic sector.

An example can be found in Lucky enterprises, which during UNTAC days had a small store serving high-spending UNTAC personnel. Now Lucky boosts five supermarkets including one in Siem Reap and seven Lucky Burgers and Lucky Sevens.

FDI surge
In 2004, foreign direct investment began to surge from less than one percent to eight percent of GDP in 2007. Today, foreign investment is dominated by North Asia, particularly Korean companies who are building skyscrapers and condominium complexes. The growth of domestic enterprises has attracted American capital,  including Leopard Capital, a private investment fund aimed at building a diversified portfolio of Cambodia's leading businesses in key sectors it has identified such as financial services, energy, telecoms, real estate, hotels, manufacturing, agribusiness and natural resources
After the UNTAC elections in 1993, the country was governed by two prime ministers, Prince Ranariddh, head of the royalist Funcinpec party who won the elections and Hun Sen of the CPP who came in a close second. Ironically, soon businessmen who flocked to Cambodia, as well as donor governments discovered that in order to get things done one should turn to the ex-Communist Hun Sen wing of the government rather than to the erratic and haphazard Ranariddh who headed the Royalist wing of the government.

Today, Cambodia has a US$8 billion economy - but this could easily be a $100 billion economy within another ten to 20 years, providing stability continues, and there is no reason to think it won't.

There are many other compelling reasons to invest in the country including a remarkably open economy, its central location as the epicentre of a fast growing region, no separatist movements, a young and hardworking population eager to learn new skills, and low labour costs.

Land boom
Let us look at some specifics. The property boom including the building of a great number of housing projects and malls have driven land prices sky high especially in the centre of Phnom Penh where land values rose from $500 a square metre in 2003 to over $3,000 today.

Many feel that this will be followed by a crash. However, look at the history at such countries like Thailand and Indonesia, who suffered a property bubble during the financial crisis of 1997, but have since continued to boom and are now at levels much higher than before the crisis.

The plans for a stock market to open its doors in 2009 will further boost the rapidly growing financial services sector attracting both domestic funds as well as international funds through mutual funds following the pattern of other Asian countries.

International banks have started to move in  but there is room for much faster growth in this sector.

With economic stability assured, other internationally known banks will follow and move in.

Decades of fighting has had one consequence which makes Cambodia so desirable to investors: the availability of vast swathes of arable and fertile land just waiting to be cultivated for rice and other valuable cash crops for exports, agricultural materials including food processing is another untapped resource for growth.

Finally, in addition to Angkor Wat, Cambodia offers beautiful untouched beaches to attract tourists. Indeed, Cambodia is still relatively unexplored in tourism potential.

Eyy, that just metaphor. I think i gave someone a wrong signal, not on the road, but on the way i acted? The person think i like them, but truthfully, i don't. Last night was a chaos. I lost a friend because i gave them a wrong signal. They hated me because they expecting more, more than just a friend. But i can't give to them because it's wrong. It's not fair for me or them. It's going to be a relationship based on the lie (or sympathy?)

I put the blame on myself too, like i said, i gave them a wrong signal. A signal that i shouldn't give, at all.

But it happened, and they are no Reverse gear in this situation.
