WALTER SMITH has been dealt more bad news on the injury front with Stevie Smith out for four to six weeks and Kyle Lafferty almost certainly out of the first leg of the Champions League qualifier on July 30.

Smith has learned from Murray Park that a scan on luckless Smith's ankle has revealed some damage and the medical team estimate at least a month on the sidelines.

The young full back, who missed the whole of 2007 with pelvic problems, suffered the injury in training and it's another frustrating setback.

Here in Holland it has been discerned that £3million signing Lafferty will not be able to play for the next 10 days due to the back injury he suffered in training.

Indeed Smith has all but ruled him out of being available for the second qualifying round first leg - almost certainly against Kaunas.

These problems have added to the fact that DaMarcus Beasley will miss three weeks with a hamstring injury picked up last Sunday against Preussen Munster across the border in Germany.

It does not end there for Smith as Carlos Cuellar will not play against Schalke on Saturday and will play in Europe.

However, the influential Spanish star will be fine by next week.

Smith said: "It's another blow for Stevie Smith who has not had his troubles to seek in recent times but we wish him a speedy recovery.

"The Lafferty one is frustrating because when you sign a new player you want to bed him into the team quickly but he is at least another week away.

"I would have to say that he won't be available to us for the Champions League qualifier on July 30."

The players were in the gym this morning for weights and strength work and they are taking part in an outdoor session this afternoon.

Smith, 26, played 13 games with the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins last season after being recalled on Jan. 28. He spent most of the year with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (AHL), where he posted career highs in goals (22), assists (28), and points (50) in 68 games, finishing third on the team in scoring. Smith, the team's captain, went on to record 18 playoff points (7-11-18) as the Penguins reached the Calder Cup Finals.

Originally selected by Vancouver in the first round (23rd overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Smith has appeared in 17 career NHL games with Vancouver and Pittsburgh, and he played four Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Canucks in 2007. The Strathcona, Alberta, native shows 143 points (66-77-143) in 361 career AHL games with Manitoba and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

McLeod, 24, made his NHL debut last season, dressing in each of the final 49 regular-season games for the Avalanche after being recalled from the AHL’s Lake Erie Monsters on Dec. 16. The Binscarth, Manitoba, native recorded nine points (4-5-9) and finished second on the Avs with 120 penalty minutes. He became the first rookie in Avalanche history to surpass 100 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound winger went on to appear in all 10 playoff games for Colorado, tallying a goal and one assist.

McLeod has collected 41 points (21-20-41) and 368 penalty minutes in 133 career AHL games with Lowell, Albany, and Lake Erie.

Weiman, 24, began the 2007-08 season with the Avalanche, appearing in one NHL game before being reassigned to Lake Erie (AHL) on Oct. 8. He spent the rest of the year with the Monsters, compiling a 9-19-1 record with two shutouts in 31 games.

Bacashihua, who was acquired by Colorado from St. Louis on Nov. 8, 2007, appeared in four games for the Peoria Rivermen and 19 with the Lake Erie Monsters. The 25-year old had a combined record of 6-14-2.

Dupuis and Campbell were both acquired from Columbus on Jan. 22, 2008 and spent the rest of the 2007-08 season with the Lake Erie Monsters. Dupuis, 23, recorded 19 points (12-7-19) in 46 combined AHL games between Lake Erie and the Syracuse Crunch. The 24-year-old Campbell notched seven points (2-5-7) in 36 combined games between the Monsters and Syracuse.

MacKenzie has spent the past three years with the Peoria Rivermen (AHL) after signing with St. Louis as a free agent on June 29, 2004. A native of Terrace Bay, Ontario, MacKenzie collected five points (0-5-5) in 55 games for Peoria last season and shows 50 points (10-40-50) in 314 career AHL games for Worcester and Peoria . The 27-year-old played four seasons at the University of Denver from 1999-2003.

De nuevo este GP se ha visto marcado por la lluvia, que a su antojo ha decidido que la carrera de 125 cc se disputara en condiciones secas y la de 250 cc en mojado. Para los pilotos del octavo de litro las 27 vueltas han sido pura incertidumbre. Finalmente, aunque en las últimas vueltas estaba lloviendo la dirección decidía no suspenderla, llegando hasta el final con neumáticos slicks.

Bradley Smith representante del Team Polaris World, se colocaba en puestos de cabeza desde el inicio llegando a liderar la prueba. Hasta la última curva Smith intentaba recuperar las posiciones pérdidas en una dura batalla por terminar en puestos de podio, aunque finalmente el joven ingles, cruzaba la línea de meta en una cuarta posición que lo coloca séptimo en la clasificación general con 79 puntos y a 87 del primer clasificado.

En la categoría de 250cc Mattia Pasini realizaba una fantástica salida que lo remontaba hasta la quinta posición. Pasini que ha vuelto a encontrar el ritmo con su moto se mantenía en el primer grupo hasta finalizar sexto. Para el italiano que no había tenido un buen fin de semana este resultado es esperanzador y le proporciona la fuerza necesaria para volver a ocupar los puestos de podio. Mattia pasa a ocupar la sexta posición en la clasificación general con 108 puntos y a 56 puntos del primero.

# 38 Bradley Smith - 4º - “ Al principio estaba esperando para ver que sucedía, no estaba seguro de las condiciones de la pista y he preferido ir con prudencia. Mis neumáticos al inicio no han respondido bien por lo que he esperado a que alcanzaran la temperatura idónea. He visto que podía ponerme primero y así ha sido, entonces a comenzado a llover y me he puesto un poco nervioso, el grupo que me perseguía me ha pasado y aunque tenía un buen ritmo y he intentado hasta la última curva pasar para conseguir podio, no ha podido ser. Estoy contento con la cuarta posición, hubiera sido genial conseguir una victoria antes de las vacaciones pero así esta también muy bien”.

# 75 Mattia Pasini - 6º - “ Estoy contento, aunque comenzaba muy retrasado, décimo tercero, he realizado una buena salida. La lluvia y la pista mojada han complicado todo mucho, he sido muy prudente por que no quería echar a perder la carrera. He comenzado a llevar mi ritmo y me he sentido muy bien con el comportamiento de la moto. En un momento me he quedado bloqueado en el segundo grupo pero después de conseguir superarlo he conseguido rodar en el grupo de cabeza hasta el final. La lluvia en las últimas vueltas me ha impedido la visibilidad era imposible ver con el agua que salpicaba el piloto que me precedía además la cúpula de la moto se me ha empañado y no veía nada. No ha sido un fin de semana fácil y la lluvia sigue impidiendo el trabajo y desarrollo de la moto que para nosotros es de vital importancia. La temporada empezaba muy bien quizás por que los circuitos eran los que habíamos usado para los test, ahora sin embargo llego sin referencias a trazados desconocidos para mi con la nueva cilindrada y esto nos hace comenzar un paso atrás que el resto. Ahora lo importante es encontrar el setting y puesta a punto de la moto, este resultado es importante nos devuelve la moral a todos y nos hacia falta!!”.

Almost batting through the whole day (and this has not happened since 1989 at Trent Bridge), Smith and McKenzie knuckled down and produced a dogged performance against what wasn't actually bad bowling on the day.

We are now looking at a possible stalemate, but stranger things have happened in cricket.

With tomorrow's game being £20 per ticket to anyone who turns up, maybe the crowd will get behind England and help them push on for the final 9 wickets and possibly a few runs here and there.

Realisticly with the weather and pitch favouring the batsman, I feel it will just be a good day in the sun for the crowd and maybe the odd bit of cheerful banter between the South African and English fans.

On the cycling front, Riccardo Ricco produced a thilling break to take the ninth stage of the Tour De France.  This now brings him up to 3rd in the King of the Mountains competition and just over 2 minutes behind the yellow of Kim Kerchen.  One feels that Cadel Evans is just waiting to seize the moment, but we shall see, and with a category 4 on stage 10, it is going to get very interesting!

On the MOTOGP front, my prediction from earlier blogs of Casey Stoner winning the German MOTOGP, rang true.  Valentino Rossi coming second and taking the overall lead from the unfortunate Dani Pedrosa.

Anyway, the emphasis so far has been on cricket, MOTOGP and La Tour De France, so I will try to explore some other sports over the coming weeks.....after all, it is early days for this young sports blog!

Es ist lange her als Adam Smith die Theorie der absoluten Kostenvorteile entwickelte. Diese besagt, dass Handel zwischen zwei Ländern nur stattfindet, wenn ein Land über einen absoluten Kostenvorteil verfügt. Nehmen wir an, die Produktion einer Einheit des Gutes "Tuch" kostet in Deutschland 10 GE (Geldeinheiten) und einer Einheit des Gutes "Weizen" 100 GE. In Frankreich kostet die Produktion einer Einheit Tuch dagegen 100 GE und einer Einheit Tuch 10GE. In diesem Fall würde sich Deutschland auf die Produktion von Tuch und Frankreich auf die Produktion von Weizen spezialisieren. Diese Güter würden sie dann miteinander handeln. Diese relativ leicht verständliche Theorie ist der Grundstein zur Betrachtung von Handel.

David Ricardo entwickelte die Theorie von Adam Smith weiter und kam zu einem Ergebnis, das zum "Theorem des komparativen Kostenvorteils" führte. Um das gleiche Beispiel zu nutzen, kann man diese Theorie folgendermaßen erklären:

Nehmen wir an, Deutschland kann bei gegebener Menge GE entweder 50 Einheiten Weizen oder 100 Einheiten Tuch produzieren. Frankreich kann dagegen mit derselben Menge GE entweder 100 Einheiten Weizen oder 120 Einheiten Tuch produzieren. Nach Adam Smith hätten wir bei dieser Konstellation ein Problem, da Frankreich beide Güter eindeutig günstiger produzieren kann und sich somit keine Anhaltspunkte für einen Handel zwischen den beiden Ländern bietet. Doch die Frage, die sich Ricardo stellt, lautet: auf wieviel Weizen muss Deutschland verzichten, wenn es nur Tuch produziert und umgekehrt? Wir kommen somit zur Ermittlung von Opportunitätskosten. Die Lösung lautet: Deutschland muss auf 100 Einheiten Tuch verzichten, um 50 Einheiten Weizen zu produzieren. Umgekehrt muss Deutschland auf 50 Einheiten Weizen verzichten, um 100 Einheiten Tuch zu produzieren. Mathematisch ausgedrückt lautet die Lösung:

Opportunitätskosten für Deutschland für Weizen = -100T/+50W = -2T

Opportunitätskosten für Deutschland für Tuch = -50W/+100T = -0,5W

Das heißt, Deutschland müsste auf 2 Einheiten Tuch verzichten, falls es sich für die Produktion von Weizen entscheidet und auf 0,5 Einheiten Weizen verzichten, falls es sich für die Produktion von Tuch entscheidet. In diesem Fall liegt der komparative Kostenvorteil bei der Produktion von Tuch, da die Opportunitätskosten hier geringer sind. Die gleiche Vorgehensweise lässt sich auch für Frankreich anwenden:

Opportunitätskosten für Frankreich für Weizen = -120T/+100W = -1,2T

Opportunitätskosten für Frankreich für Tuch = -100W/+120T = -0,83W

Unter den genannten Prämissen würde sich Deutschland auf die Produktion von Tuch und Frankreich auf die Produktion von Weizen spezialisieren, um die Güter anschließend miteinander zu handeln. Ricardo entwickelte so ein Modell, das auch für eine Vielzahl von Güter und Märkten gültig sein sollte. Die wesentliche Aussage dabei ist, dass ein Land sich auf das Gut spezialisiert, bei dem es den größeren Kostenvorsprung hat um es gegen ein anderes einzutauschen, bei dem der Kostenvorteil relativ gering ist. Die wesentlichen Prämissen für das Theorem der komparativen Kosten sind:

• vollkommene Märkte
• gleiche Faktorausstattung in den Ländern
• keine Informations- und/oder Transportkosten
• fixe Inputfaktormenge
• Homogenität der Produktionsfaktoren
• Identische Produktionsfunktionen länderübergreifend
• konstante Nutzenvorstellungen der Konsumenten
• keine externen Effekte

Doch es gibt natürlich nicht nur die Möglichkeit, ein Gut zu produzieren und auf die Produktion des anderen Gutes völlig zu verzichten. Vielmehr gibt es eine unzählige Anzahl an Kombinationsmöglichkeiten, die durch die Transformationskurve (siehe unten) beschrieben werden.

Die Transformationskurve beschreibt alle möglichen Produktionsstände in einem Land. Kommt es zum Handel, so liegt der Konsum innerhalb des Landes allerdings nicht mehr auf der Transformationskurve, sondern darüber (Konsum = Produktion + Import). Die Opportunitätskosten, denen sich das Land gegenüber sieht, wenn es statt des Gutes 1 eine Einheit mehr Gut 2 produziert, können auch als Preis ausgedrückt werden. Dabei entspricht z.B. ein Tauschverhältnis von 1/2 einem Preisverhältnis von 2/1. Durch den Handel kann die Bevölkerung eines Landes mehr konsumieren als im Inland produziert wird. Dadurch verschiebt sich die Indifferenzkurve des Inlands. Das Resultat des dabei entstehenden Handels ist der Zuwachs an Wohlstand in beiden Ländern. Als Ergebnis der dabei entstehenden Preisänderungen verschiebt sich auch die Budgetkurve. Um die neue Kontellation auf das beschriebene Beispiel anzuwenden, kann man festhalten, dass das für die Bevölkerung neue Optimum (Haushaltsoptimum) im Tangentialpunkt der Budgetlinie mit der Transformationskurve liegt.

Wenn als Ergebnis des Handels In- und Ausland miteinander handeln, bilden sich folgende makroökonomische Entwicklungen ab, die für die spätere Betrachtung wichtig sind:

• ein einheitlicher Weltmarktpreis für jedes Produkt
• neue Preise führen zur Veränderung der Produktionsmenge
• Preisänderungen haben Auswirkungen auf die Konsumnachfrage
• da Produktions- und Konsummengen im In- und Ausland unterschiedlich sind, werden Güter im- und exportiert
• Wohlstandszuwachs als Folge des Handels

Das Streben nach Wohlstandszuwachs durch Handel bedingt das so oft zitierte Phänomen der Globalisierung. Dabei gibt es jedoch noch weitere Gründe und Ursachen der Globalisierung, die meisten von ihnen haben aber direkt oder indirekt mit dem bereits erwähnten Wohlstandszuwachs zu tun:

• Abbau von Handelshemmnissen
• Liberalisierung des Diesntleistungsverkehrs
• Liberalisierung von Kapitalmärkten
• Neue Informations- und Telekommunikationstechnologien
• Förderung von internationalen Allianzen

Steigende ausländische Direktinvestitionen sowie die bis vor kurzem sinkenden Transport- und Transaktionskosten haben diese Entwicklung genauso wie die Internationalisierung von Unternehmen wesentlich gefördert. Doch gibt es auch eine gegenläufige Entwicklung, die darauf basiert, dass Staaten zunehmend um die Produktionsfaktoren Kapital und Arbeit wetteifern Unternehmen um Kunden und Arbeitnehmer um Arbeit bangen.

Das Faktorproportionentheorem von Heckscher-Ohlin geht in der Betrachtung der Ursachen des Handels einen Schritt weiter und betrachtet die Ursachen für komparative Kostenvorteile. Das Ergebnis des Faktorproportionentheorems besagt, dass bei unterschiedlicher Produktionsfaktorausstattung (Kapital und Arbeit) von zwei Ländern sich jedes Land auf das Gut spezialisiert, bei dem es einen Faktorausstattungsvorteil hat. Im Zuge der Weiterentwicklung dieses Theorems ist das Leontief-Paradoxon besonders hervorzuheben. Das Paradoxon, das Leontief beschreibt, ist die Tatsache, dass die über viel Kapital verfügenden USA dennoch kapitalintensive Güter importierten und arbeitsintensive Güter exportierten. Die Erklärung, die er dafür lieferte besagt, dass der Faktor Arbeit nicht homogen ist, sondern man zwischen qualifizierter und unqualifizierter Arbeit unterscheiden kann. Daraus entstand dann das Neu-Faktorproportionentheorem.

1. Mr. Smith obviously set out to do a hero movie for adults. That was quite clear. With all the hero movies out there I think this was a smart move.

2. Second, Will's hidden message was this: Father's (especially black dad's) you cannot be the heroes that your children need if you keep getting in trouble. Of course it's message that has been repeated widely. Most recently by Barack Obama in his Father's Day speech. And yes Barack and Bill Cosby have been drawn over the coals for this (Barack more recently by Jesse Jackson). Anyway, I think Will's approach in the movie was novel and timely. Well done Hancock. Haven't seen it? It's worth a watch.

Un ejemplo de eso es la súper abundancia de películas de súper héroes –o basadas en comics-que invaden el mercado. Sólo este año podemos mencionar a Iron Man, Hulk, Batman y Hellboy. A ellas se suma Hancock, del realizador Peter Berg. Un film interesante que se aparta de la línea tradicional del género.

Hancock (interpretado por Will Smith) es un héroe amnésico y alcohólico, que más que ayudar a las personas con sus poderes genera grandes problemas y pérdidas financieras. En hilarantes situaciones, en su carrera por “hacer el bien” destruye casas, automóviles y descarrila trenes. La gente, en vez de agradecerle, le recrimina su torpeza, críticas que éste devuelve con sendos insultos. Su vida cambia cuando conoce a un experto en relaciones públicas (Jason Bateman) que desea cambiar su imagen. Sin embargo, al poco andar dicho personaje se transforma en la conexión con un tortuoso y peligroso pasado.

El film comienza como una comedia bien realizada, refrescante en todo sentido de la palabra. Con secuencias bien logradas –como la terapia de grupo en la cárcel o el frustrado salvataje a una ballena varada en la playa- , se perfilaba como una inteligente propuesta, fuera de los cánones tradicionales. Sin embargo, y al más puro estilo Shyamalan, la cinta da un giro inesperado que la transforma, una vez más, en una más que clásica película de súper héroes, en donde la tragedia, el deber y el sacrificio pasan a transformarse en los ejes de la historia.

Este cambio le quita todo lo novedoso al film, a pesar de que el resultado final no es para nada despreciable. En su conjunto, la apuesta de Berg resulta ser llevadera y por largos pasajes muy entretenida y cautivante. Sin embargo, al final el espectador puede quedar con la sensación de que se desperdició una buena oportunidad de refrescar y estabilizar un género que deambula entre pésimas películas y grandes obras de acción.

En resumen, Hancock es un film cuyo principal objetivo es entretener, pero que sin embargo se queda en la promesa incumplida de entregar algo más al espectador.

Ada pahlawan, pahlawan super...dan ada Hancock....

Kekuatan besar menopang tanggung jawab besar - semua orang tahu pepatah itu -kecuali Hancock (Will Smith). Tempramen, sarkastik, kepahlawanan Hancock dapat menyelesaikan tugasnya dan telah menyelamatkan banyak nyawa, namun meninggalkan banyak kerusakan. Publik beruntung mempunyai pahlawan lokal namun sekaligus mengutuknya.

Hancock tidak peduli dengan pendapat orang lain - hingga suatu hari ia menyelamatkan eksekutif humas Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman), dan sang pahlawan mulai menyadari bahwa dirinya tidak sehebat itu.

Di awal cerita kita disuguhkan kehidupan Hancock yang serba seenaknya, hidup dengan aturannya sendiri tanpa memperdulikan lingkungan sekitar. Layaknya elang yang terbang bebas di angkasa, Hancock pun demikian selalu terbang dan mendarat dengan seenaknya dengan meninggalkan kerusakan. Meskipun demikian Hancock mempunyai niat baik yaitu membasmi kejahatan namun sayangnya caranya yang salah yaitu dengan meninggalkan kerusakan - kurasakan yang amat besar meskipun untuk menangkap penjahat kelas teri, inilah yang disayangkan oleh banyak pihak.

Sampai suatu ketika dya menyelamatkan eksekutif humas Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman) yang terjebak di lintasan kereta api, konyolnya bukan mengangkat mobil malah melemparkan mobil Ray kebelakang dan menabarakkan diri ke Kereta api, alhasil kereta api mengalami kerusakan yang amat parah namun ray selamat. Di sini banyak orang yang menghujat tingkah hancock namun ray beranggapan lain, Ray merasa berhutang budi pada Hancock.

Dan disini lah inti ceritanya, Ray mencoba merubah hancock menjadi manusia "super" yang dirindukan masyarakat bukan manusia "super" yang dibenci masyarakat, untuk lebih serunya kalian bisa langsung melihat the movienya.

Dijamin ga rugi deh karena movie ini dijamin ga monoton karena disajikan dengan tema yang berbeda yaitu komedi, drama, action dan penuh dengan pesan moral..

Su consiglio dell'amico Kamin io mi sono tenuto ben lontano dal film e mi sono invece comprato il romanzo di Richard Matheson, a cui il lungometraggio è ispirato.

Ho terminato la lettura proprio ieri e devo dire che sono rimasto entusiasta sia dalla storia che dalla tecnica descrittiva dell'autore; il suo "non dire esplicitamente" mi ha conquistato, le sue frasi "ad effetto", messe sempre al punto giusto, bastavano a farti sentire il "cazzotto nello stomaco". Un po' quello che avevo apprezzato nel film "Funny Games" di cui abbiamo parlato nell'ultimo episodio del PizzaCast.

Che dire poi del finale? Magnifico...e non voglio aggiungere altro perchè Bea deve ancora leggerlo...anzi qualora voleste commentare questo post VI PREGO DI NON SPOILERARE, ne va della mia vita matrimoniale e della mia incolumità! ;-)

Adesso mi devo vedere TUTTI i film ispirati a questo libro...anche se mi dicono che il finale che mi è così tanto piaciuto non lo ritroviamo mai nella trasposizione cinematografica...soprattutto nell'ultima già citata con Will Smith.

Insomma, per chi non lo conoscesse, e qualcuno forse ci sarà, il mio consiglio è: ACCATTATIVILL' e portatevelo in spiaggia.

Unica cosa che non mi è troppo piaciuta, ma si tratta della mia edizione, è la scelta di mettere proprio Will Smith in copertina, quando poi il personaggio principale viene descritto nelle prime pagine ed è fisicamente agli antipodi! Vabbè, poco male...questo è un CAPOLAVORO! Ciauz!
