This summer, I taught Web/Ga

So a long time has passed since I last wrote. Allow me to catch you up!

This summer, I taught Web/Game/Flash design at a computer camp. The kids were OK, but I couldn't stand working with some of the other instructors or director or lead instructor at ALL! I really, truly hated them. There were only two other instructors who I didn't mind. The others were complete douchebags. The only way I'd consider working with that company again is if I taught a different class, and worked at a different location with different people. Seriously. It was that bad.

The camp didn't result in ALL bad experiences for me, though. One good thing that came of it was that I met someone at the training with whom I get along very well (see below post about the dream!). As it turns out, I DID see him again, and we went and hung out in Chicago for a day, resulting in Blue Man Group at the end of the night! It was an amazing day!!! So much fun! :)

The rest of the summer has been pretty boring, though, really. I came back to school, and have been working for a while to keep myself somewhat entertained, as well as keep the money a-flowin'.

I'm actually sort of really bored. And pissed that school hasn't started sooner! I wish that it had started last week. Instead, I have to wait until September 2! Ridiculous! I'll have some AWESOME classes, though, which I'm VERY excited about. I've been considering various paths to take with my schooling and future life, and I've come to some conclusions I feel happy and confident about. I'm excited for once in my life to get back to classes and get on with my life!

Well, I guess that's all for now. Not so much has happened as I thought at first. ;) Sorry about that.

[sourcecode language="sql"]mysql> CREATE TABLE acbalance (
->   id int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT,
->   accountID int(5) DEFAULT NULL,
->   acPost date DEFAULT NULL,
->   balance double(15,0) DEFAULT NULL,
->   PRIMARY KEY (id)
-> ) ENGINE=InnoDB;
Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.08 sec)

mysql> INSERT INTO acbalance (accountID, acPost, balance) VALUES
->   (3, '2007-01-31', 50000),
->   (3, '2007-02-28', 30000),
->   (3, '2007-03-31', 10000),
->   (3, '2007-04-30', 60000),
->   (3, '2007-05-31', 30000),
->   (3, '2008-01-31', 50000),
->   (3, '2008-02-29', 30000),
->   (3, '2008-03-31', 90000),
->   (3, '2008-04-30', 30000),
->   (3, '2008-05-31', 50000);
Query OK, 10 rows affected (0.06 sec)
Records: 10  Duplicates: 0  Warnings: 0

mysql> SELECT b.accountName,
->   MONTHNAME(a.acPost) as MONTH,
->   a.balance
->   FROM
->   acbalance a JOIN
->   account b ON
->   a.accountID=b.accountID WHERE
->   acPost>'2008-01-01';

+-------------+----------+---------+
| accountName | MONTH    | balance |
+-------------+----------+---------+
| Kas         | January  |   50000 |
| Kas         | February |   30000 |
| Kas         | March    |   90000 |
| Kas         | April    |   30000 |
| Kas         | May      |   50000 |
+-------------+----------+---------+
5 rows in set (0.00 sec)[/sourcecode]

Query pertama :

[sourcecode language="sql"]mysql> SELECT b. accountName, MONTH(a.acPost) AS MonthNo,
-> MONTHNAME(a.acPost) AS MonthName,
-> a.balance AS saving
-> FROM acbalance a, account b
-> WHERE a.accountID=b.accountID AND
-> a.acPost <'2008-01-01'
-> GROUP BY MONTH(a.acPost);
+-------------+---------+-----------+---------+
| accountName | MonthNo | MonthName | Rolling |
+-------------+---------+-----------+---------+
| Kas         |       1 | January   |   50000 |
| Kas         |       2 | February  |   30000 |
| Kas         |       3 | March     |   10000 |
| Kas         |       4 | April     |   60000 |
| Kas         |       5 | May       |   30000 |
+-------------+---------+-----------+---------+
5 rows in set (0.00 sec)
[/sourcecode]

Query kedua :

[sourcecode language="sql"]mysql> SELECT MONTH(acPost) AS MonthNo,
-> MONTHNAME(acPost) AS MonthName,
-> balance AS saving
-> FROM acbalance
-> WHERE acPost <'2008-01-01'
-> GROUP BY MONTH(acPost);
+---------+-----------+---------+
| MonthNo | MonthName | Rolling |
+---------+-----------+---------+
|       1 | January   |   50000 |
|       2 | February  |   30000 |
|       3 | March     |   10000 |
|       4 | April     |   60000 |
|       5 | May       |   30000 |
+---------+-----------+---------+
5 rows in set (0.00 sec)
[/sourcecode]

INNER JOIN
.

[sourcecode language="sql"]mysql> SELECT
-> a.accountName,
-> a.MonthName,
-> a.saving,
-> SUM(b.saving) AS lastBalance
-> FROM
-> (SELECT b.accountName, MONTH(a.acPost) AS MonthNo,
-> MONTHNAME(a.acPost) AS MonthName,
-> a.balance AS saving
-> FROM acbalance a, account b
-> WHERE a.accountID=b.accountID AND
-> a.acPost <'2008-01-01'
-> GROUP BY MONTH(a.acPost)
-> ) AS a
-> INNER JOIN (
-> SELECT
-> MONTH(acPost) AS MonthNo,
-> MONTHNAME(acPost) AS MonthName,
-> balance AS saving
-> FROM acbalance
-> WHERE acPost < '2008-01-01'
-> GROUP BY MONTH(acPost)
-> ) AS b
-> ON a.MonthNo >= b.MonthNo
-> GROUP BY a.MonthNo;[/sourcecode]

[sourcecode language="sql"]mysql> SELECT SUM(balance) INTO @balance2007 FROM acbalance
Query OK, 1 row affected (0.00 sec)

Kemudian kita gabungkan dengan Query dibawah ini :

Today we were hit by a level 8 typhoon, typhoon ‘Kammuri.’ It meant we had the day off school, which was a nice start to the day, as T is not only for typhoon, but also teeth, and mine are killing me, and teaching does not help.

Last week’s school was stunning. I finished the week in an excellent mood. On Friday evening I went, along with my room mate Paddy to Temple Street to sample tasty foodstuffs.

We made our way through stall after store of trinkets, paintings, electronics and sex toys and were surprised to find we were eating Indian food, very delicious Indian food indeed. Following a hearty Friday night supper we headed to Tsim Sha Tsui (T is also for Tsim Sha Tsui, though you wouldn’t know it to hear a local say it) for some over priced cocktails back in a bar we had visited before, situated somewhere in the sky over Hong Kong.

Saturday was meant to be the day we went to visit Macau. However, this plan was fatally wounded at the point I realised the Chinese embassy had my passport. It was a shame, though we did manage to find a way to fill the gap left by not visiting a former Portuguese colony with its own unique culture and way of life – going to a theme park.

There are two theme parks in Hong Kong, ‘Ocean Park’ and ‘Disneyland.’ We went to Ocean Park. We didn’t stay all day, but we did stay long enough to sample all the rides, including ‘The Abyss,’ ‘The Dragon’ and ‘The Mine Train.’ White knuckles all round. The rides were fun, though my favourite attraction was not a ride, but the cable car between each side of the park, the first cable car I would ride that weekend, but not the last.

That evening we took a manly evening meal at a Thai/Vietnamese restaurant in Kowloon City, followed by a manly milkshake in a coffee shop called ‘Second Home’ in Mong Kok. The reason these events were so manly, was that they were aimed at rivalling the girls’ evening, which involved judging the Mr. Hong Kong competition. Naturally, when we late described our evening to them, it involved a lot more ‘big trucks’ and ‘kinky hoes’ than my humble yet informative blogging style allows for. Still, I enjoyed it despite being bereft of football, beer, cars etc…

The following morning we made our way through the hundreds of Filipino maids sitting and socialising under the HSBC building in central Hong Kong to go for a delicious Dim Sum breakfast at city hall.

Following this banquet Paddy and me separated from the group and explored the science museum before heading to the cable car at Ngong Ping, which took us to visit the mighty ‘Big Buddha.’

The big Buddha certainly did not fail to deliver on his promise of stature. It was huge. Still, the place held a sort of theme park spuriousness that unsettled the ‘village’ for me – by village they mean a row of restaurants and gift shops all white washed and sparkling. Regardless, the views were real, and the Ngong Ping cable car certainly ranks among the best cable cars I’ve ever had the pleasure of riding, and I’ve ridden at least three.

It was quite a busy week, and it was ended by a very busy weekend, one which left me exhausted, and unfortunately in severe pain from my teeth. I apologise if my writing seems a little curt (I’m sure I flatter myself with the notion there’s anybody reading to apologise to), but T is also for Thursday, a school day, and after today’s anti-climactic typhoon threat, I have a Saturday’s teaching ahead of me, as well as the remaining Thursday and Friday. So now, I must sleep.

Setting

Wenig also.

The you can use this command:

# df -k | egrep -v 'kbytes|proc|swap|mnttab|fd' | awk '{ SUM += $4} END { print SUM }'

Basically it will print the total space available on your machine. If you need total or used space, use $2 or $3 respectively in awk part of the command.

Also, if you want Mb or Gb, you can just ... { print SUM/1024/1024 }'

Mmm, so my mother, my brother, and I have gone to Seattle yesterday on Friday the 12th and we went to go dim sum. Of course, we rode the bus because we thought it would be better to just take the bus there and be able to sleep on the way there; once we got there we had a bit of trouble finding the restaurant because my mom was confused the name of the restaurant. Once we had found it after a bit, we went inside and immediately started eating because dim sum is very fast service because they have already prepared food and you just pick what you want off the meandering carts that a lot of waitresses just talk and chat. But, the food was good with some pluses and minuses; of course every dim sum has the staple food and you can compare it to other places. When we had dim sum in Kent at the Great Wall Shopping Mall, they had a bit better food than here but a little worse than some of the items here. But, overall it was pretty yummy and I filled myself right up as a cheat day today; it was really wonderful and I had a great time. My favorite dish just had to be the char siu sou; it tasted somewhat similar to a croissant with a little more crispiness and with the char siu inside it was very good! Can't resist good food like that! I also liked the turnip cakes, though they were a bit worse than the one in the Great Wall Shopping Mall for this one was a bit less zesty, it was still good. Dim sum is always good in my opinion, and I'll be going to dim sum again when my brother comes back from college in the winter.

Of course, after we exited the restaurant we headed to the summer Asian festival in Seattle and my mother wanted to look around so my brother and I went to Gameworks and enjoyed a few games; we especially liked the Japanese drumming game and of course, the DDR. I don't get why some songs aren't on the normal DDR they distribute for the PS2 Supernova but I have a new favorite song from Raven G but I can't recall the name at the moment. Also, my brother just figured out how to play the Danceman Game correctly which we had no idea how to play earlier; you just wave your hands through it like a real dance and you don't tap it. Heh, it took a little while but now it is much more fun.

After we finished up at Gameworks with still around five dollars worth of points we headed off to the bus stop to get the free ride zone to Uwajimaya to meet up with our mom again. Once we got to Uwajimaya and met up with our mom we went into the book store and I was debating wether to get Full Metal Panic but I decided not to because I was originally going to buy Yotsuba&! number six which they did not have in stock and I'll just buy it online later today; after leaving the book store we promptly went to walk around Uwajimaya and we bought some natto to try out. My brother and I really wanted to try to see what natto tasted like and of course we bought a package along with a few goodies I bought for myself. My goodies added up to a crazy amount of forty bucks, but it was pretty worth it. I bought a new bento box that is two tiered along with an onigiri maker which has animal faces for it and little toothpicks of different color and variety. I also bought new chopsticks which I wanted since I only have one pair that I like myself, and the other ones are just too big for my hands [which reminds me, the chopsticks in the dim sum were horribly long and it was sooo hard to use them!]. Once we left the shopping section, we went to the bakery and bought some buns and of course the sponge cake. Who can resist some red bean paste buns and some sponge cakes? Of course, I didn't eat them because I didn't want to eat too much unhealthy today 'cause I get freaked out heh. I'll save it for next week's cheat day!

After our little bakery decision, we headed to the bus and got on and headed back home. Once we got home we played around for an hour and my mother and I went to the park to try my new Polar RS200; it wasn't a waste of money at all. Though I need to buy and XS strap probably, the small strap stayed well if I hiked it up a lot and sagged only every mile or so. It was really useful and it didn't take much to get used to, it was very fun to use. After our little run, my mom talking on the phone, we went to WalMart to pick up some food and I got a Luna Bar Chocolate Peppermint Stick; it was so good and it was like eating a cookie. I felt so guilty eating it but it was so good and I checked the nutrition label like twenty times; I'm pretty sure the people in the store walking by thought I was crazy comparing labels. Hehe. I guess I'm just that way.

I'd like to say sorry to people who were reading my blog I just got busy and I was not able to update for a while. Keep watching and stay tuned!

selezionare il controllo e impostare la proprietà showlabel = no;

Selezionare nuovamente il controllo e impostare sholabel = yes;

Quoted from ‘thesundaytimes, June 22, 2008′ Page 26 invest [ small change ]
Last month,

Quoted from 'thesundaytimes, June 22, 2008' Page 26 invest [ small change ]

Last month, I shared about how I like to "pay myself first" by having money channelled automatically from my payrol and deposited straight into regular savings plans.

A closely related concept is "dollar-cost-averaging", which could be a part of such plans, if one intends to enter the investment market at regular intervals.

Infact, many financial experts prefer dollar=cost averaging to lump-sum investments-particularly when protecting against paying too much for investments in a volatile market.

This is how dollar-cost averaging works. The same dollar amount is invested at regular intervals, say monthly, into a diversified investment portfolio. This arrangement holds regardless how the market is doing. As a result, the price paid for the shares or unit trusts is averaged out.

This means more shares are brought when prices are low and less when prices are high.

The natural question that comes to mind is how preading one's investment over time, via dollar-cost averaging, gives you better results than investing alump sum in the market. Let's examine which method is better.

Method 1: Lump-sum investing

Doing this effectively means timing the market by trying to buy low and sell high.

It's great if one succeeds but in reality, most people fall on their face. Such investors lose money primarily because their greed and fear results in an inaccurate reading of the market. Studies from US-based research firm Dalbar have shown that those who attempt to anticipate market movements usually run the risk of exiting and entering the market at the wrong times.

For example, let's assume you have $10,000 and you want to purchase stock A, whose price recently fell to $10 a piece. Having seen it hit a high of $15 a share previously, you think this is a good time to buy. and go on to purchase 1,000 shares. A month later, the shares dip to $5 a piece, but you decide to hang to them. Ten months later, stock A remains at $5. you now make a paper loss of $5,000.

Method 2: Dollar-cost Averaging

This method entails dividing the principal sum of $10,000 into equal amounts of $1,000 and investing the smaller sums every month for ten months, regardless of how the market is doing.

Let's say that the piece of stock A remains at $10 for the first five months and falss to $5 a share in the next five months. Using dollar-cost averaging, you would buy 100 shares with $1,000 in each of the first five months and 200 shares with $1,000 in each of the next five months.

As a result, you are able to buy more shares when the price is low and this means owning more shares overall.

At the end of 10 months, instead of having 1,000 shares, as would have been the case if you had invested a lump sum, you now have 1,500 shares. And even thou the share price is down to $5 a piece, your holdings are worth $7,500, instead of $5,000 you would have lost if you had done a lump-sum investment.

With dollar-cost averaging, you are able to limit your loss when the market is trending down. This method also eliminates the risk of market timing and creates the discipline to stay invested in the market at all times.

These reasons explainwhy investor are better off using dollar-cost averaging in the long rubn.

Zilele trecute l-am downloadat si acum chiar am toata discografia. :D

E foarte misto albumul, toate melodiile sunt reusite. Preferata mea e With Me, care poate fi ascultata aici. :D

Continued from part 4:

2003 was a struggling year for the MMVAs. Back then the SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) outbreak was subsiding in our big city. Tourism in the region has subsequently slumped. So in order to have a perfect show to win back the audience and the general public to the region, the 2003 MMVAs were in high octane back then. Punk music was the prime back then. Gas was at 62.5 cents CDN a litre (Toronto average. The national average was at 68.6 cents CDN a litre). The price of a barrel of oil was at $25.00US a barrel.

Onward with the highlights. Avril Lavigne showed her ass on stage and the crowd was marooned from that reaction. They screamed and laugh of course. One of my personal favourites back then, Simple Plan performed for a massive crowd. What's more, the film "Going the Distance" was filmed during the 2003 MMVAs. How interesting. I have yet to watch the film but i'll see if I can find and rent (or purchase) the movie....lol

To view the highlights from that day, click here.

I managed to search at least three videos of the 2003 MMVAs. One of is Simple Plan performing with the crowd and Avril Lavigne presenting an award. There's also the one when Avril Lavigne was at the red carpet that day. At that time, her original band members were their "companion". THis include: Charlie Moniz, Evan Taubenfield and Ajax natives Jesse Colburn & Matt Brann. and The videos are right here:

Simple Plan: performing "I'd do anything":

In addition, I found a video of "On Set of: Going the Distance". This can be viewed here:

Almost a year later, things was getting better and better. The final part will conclude tomorrow.

continued from part 3:

And so, the people at MuchMusic moved the awards to June and the reason that they have to set this up is because that 2001 was a tragic year for all of us, even the music industry is depressed as well. So the management at MuchMusic has finally made the move: move the awards to June and it's pernament.

Anyways, on with the highlights now and back in the days, Avril Lavigne was gaining momentum when she performed her hit single "Complicated". Shakira also performed "Whenever, Wherever" (in which I cannot get the song out of my head.....:P) and Bow Wow (at that time, he was known as Lil Bow Wow) does some "Ghetto style" when he performed for the crowd.

There was some instances that got too little out of hand - Sum 41 was lighting up some firecrackers and it almost set the entire place on fire! It could have turned worse for some, but despite that the entertainment was getting pumped up. We must not forget Puddle of Mudd. They were great performers.

EDIT: I found a video that was dated in 2002. This was a video compilation of Interviews that was dated in 2002. You can view it here:

EDIT: I also found a video of Sum 41 performing "What we're all about". It can be viewed here:

To see the winners who managed to won the awards back then, click here. A year later, the city of Toronto was struggling with the decline in tourism and the fact that SARS crisis was subsiding. MuchMusic spent months on sprucing up the show to be action packed! More on that will commence tomorrow.
