U Studentskom parku u Beogradu, prvom Internet parku u našoj zemlji, zahvaljujući saradnji Gradskog zelenila i Telenora, sada je postavljena nova rasveta, čime je posetiocima omogućeno da i noću koriste Telenorov bežični Internet.

Damit ist eine Konsolidierung der europäischen Telekommunikationsmärkte weniger wahrscheinlich geworden. Aber die norwegische Telenor hat Interesse an TeliaSonera. Gut für eine skandinavische Lösung, aber sehr nah am Monopol. To be continued.

Bra reklam - men inte ett erbjudande som lever upp till attityden i tv-rutan. Lite sämre service än de andra, lite snorkigare kundvård. Inte så pigga och hungriga som konkurrenterna.

Flera av mina vänner med Teliaabonnemang klagar över väntetider och bristande hjälp. Medan Telenor ringer och frågar om jag är nöjd med mina tjänster, tipsar om hur jag kan få lägre telefonkostnader och är allmänt hjälpsamma.

Visst är jag sugen på en iPhone. Men byta till Feleverket? No way.

Nakon svečane manifestacije koja je održana danas, Studenski park u Beogradu je zvanično dobio još jednu funkciju koja mu je donela titulu prvog internet parka u Srbiji.

U naredna tri meseca, zahvaljujući Telenoru, svi posetioci parka moći će besplatno da pristupe Internetu i isprobaju sve prednosti 3G mreže, a da pri tom uživaju na otvorenom prostoru.

Brzina protoka je oko 1,8 megabita u sekundi, što je Telenor obezbedio preko svoje 3G mreže mobine telefonije.

Način povezivanja je veoma jednostavan, uz pomoć nekoliko osnovnih koraka, koji su objašnjeni na tablama u parku, svi zainteresovani mogu da priključe svoje računare na internet.

Povezivanje prenosnih računara na brzi Internet moguće je putem bežične mreže koja pokriva ceo par ili putem USB modema koji se nalaze na nekoliko lokacija u parku.

Predstavnici Telenora su najavili da će u toku sledeće nedelje i u drugim gadovima Srbije biti otvoreni internet parkovi.

Koncept internet parkova postoji već dugo u mnogim svetskim metropolama, a od sada će i građani Srbije imati priliku da surfuju i preuzimaju sadržaj sa interneta sedeći u travi nekog od parkova širom Srbije.

A sada mali dodatak o drugoj strani realnosti Beograda u 21. veku...
Tokom vikenda, odnosno u noći između 14. i 15. juna wireless hub koji se nalazio u Studentskom parku je iščupan sa postolja, sam portal je polomljen i išaran grafitima, a iščupani su i USB modemi sa klupa. Iza njih su ostale rupe i polomljene daske. Čak ni nedužne table sa objašnjenjima nisu preživele!

Bez obzira na sve, samo dan posle ovog demoliranja otvoren je novi internet park, ovog puta u Nišu, a planira se i otvaranje istovetnog parka i u Novom Sadu.

Time spent on GPRS will have no impact on the cost. GPRS/WAP is not charged by the minute or duration, but by the amount of Data that is used. So be careful while downloading or uploading large amounts of data.

Grameenphones, hvor Telenor eier 62 %, betalte i følge Dagbladet 8000 kroner til en familie som hadde mistet sin 10 år gamle datter i en ulykke på Grameenphones sin byggeplass. "Det Telenor-eide selskapet Grameenphones skal ha betalt familien til en 10 år gammel jente som døde på deres byggeplass 8.000 kroner for ikke å gå til rettssak," skriver Dagbladet.

Hva prisen er for de to arbeiderne som "omkom da de skulle henge opp en reklametavle for Telenor-eide Grameenphone i Bangladesh" vites ikke...

På vägen till Stockholm på E4:an passerade vi Gränna och givetvis måste man ära byn med ett besök. Väl i staden gjorde vi det vi skulle i testväg, tog en fika och köpte massa polkagrisar så klart. Mitt i allt ringde P4 Radio Blekinge och intervjuade mig i deras aktualitetsmagasin Frekvens. Vi har fått mycket uppmärksamhet i Blekinge för vårt test av mobila bredband då det framkom att lokala jätten Telenor inte var bäst. Blekinge Läns Tidning hade en stor artikel med idag och radion ringde som jag sa.

Efter Gränna bar det av till Den Kungliga Hufvudstaden där vi testade maxhastigheten på mobila bredbanden. Kvällen avslutades med köttbit på schyssta Texas Longhorn på Upplandsgatan. According to PTA, they are going to block around 6.5 million unverified SIMs. A total of 1,020,874 (more than one million) unverified SIMs/Connections have been blocked so far.

Just for the heck of it, I checked the ownership of the SIMs this week and I got the shock of my life. One of my years old Mobilink SIM was registered in someone else's name (only the initials) and that too with incomplete details! It was the perfect candidate for getting blocked.

I really wonder why the ownership was not in my name, because I remember providing Mobilink with all the necessary documents when I got the SIM.

Anyway, as I did not want to risk losing my number, I immediately went to Mobilink's Office with the SIM, my Original Identity Card along with a photostate copy of it and got the ownership details corrected.

Med risk för att framstå som djävulens advokat kunde man dock kanske begära att kunderna, såväl som den media som i stora, skrikiga rubriker slår upp det skedda, öppnade ögonen för denna verklighet även de, och ställde sig frågan: finns det något alternativ?

Ja, för Ericsson och Telenor finns naturligtvis alternativ, de torde ha möjlighet att hitta annan arbetskraft, men för barnen? Troligen har de tagit de i våra ögon så hemska anställningarna av en anledning som kallas överlevnad.

Beakta vad som skulle ske - vad som kommer att ske - när Ericsson och Telenor byter ut sina underleverantörer och/eller förmår de kvarvarande att sluta anställa ungar. Inbillar sig någon att denna välgärning skulle leda till att barnen plötsligt får bättre levnadsförhållanden - att deras liv blir så mycket bättre när deras ända försörjning försvinner? Det som väntar dem är inte dagis, fritidsgrupper, mellis och fina filmer från pogo pedagog utan i bästa fall nya arbeten hos långt sämre arbetsgivare, i värsta fall ett liv som tiggare eller gatuprostituerade.

I södra Afrika arbetar ungefär en fjärdedel av alla barn och i Asien cirka en femtedel. Av alla arbetande barn är det emellertid bara några procent som arbetar med produktion av varor som går på export och som därmed överhuvudtaget kan bojkottas. En bojkott kommer därför med stor sannolikhet enbart att tvinga in barnen i ännu sämre arbetsförhållanden.

Barnarbete är en oerhört svår, instinktivt motbjudande företeelse, men den i mitt tycke ohederligaste hållningen man överhuvudtaget kan ha i denna fråga är att helt sonika fördöma och kräva förbud som enbart kommer att slå mot de utsatta grupper. Även om det knappast sker på ett särdeles rosenskimrande vis (det gjorde det inte i Sverige heller för 150 år sedan) bygger barnen just nu sin framtid, antagligen med förhoppningen om att nästa generation skall slippa den misär de själva lever i. Missriktade välgärningar bidrar bara till att hålla kvar dem nere på botten av resursstegen.

After the Bill Invoice was generated, I went back to Telenor to collect the Security on Friday, and they answered "Sorry, the day for clearing is Thursday. Come back again". I was pretty angry for not being informed earlier for this, but I said to myself, oh well alright, waiting another week won't kill anyone.

So I went again the next week on a Thursday, only to be told that "Your case has been sent to the Finance Department for clearing. Come back next Thursday."

Anyway, long story short, it took me 45 days & three visits to get Telenor to return the Refundable Security after all the dues were paid.

So anyone who's going to shut down their Telenor Postpaid connections, remember to not expect the money back till atleast 40-45 days.

After my experience using Warid's Postpaid connection which has been good, Telenor has left a bad impression on me for their lack of regard for postpaid customers.

I don't know why I always hoped or was under the illusion that Telenor would in some way be better than the rest, I guess I was influenced by some of their first Advertisments in which they said "Telenor: Expect More". Now I finally understand why they changed the slogan of "Expect More" to "Smart Call". No more expectations from Telenor!

No wonder most people opt for Mobilink or Warid when they have to go for postpaid, it's rightly so. Even though their customer services are just as bad as Telenor's, but atleast their packages are better! Getting something is better than nothing.

I really hope they improve the way they treat their customers. Teaching the Customer Representatives to be polite and courteous does not count when they are totally like zombies who smile but can provide no help.

Today it was announced that my ISP - Cybercity, which was bought in May 2005 by the Norwegian company Telenor - will change it's name to "Telenor". I've been a customer with Cybercity since the ISDN days and got my first ADSL connection with them back in '99 (as far as I remember). Over the past year I've had a couple of fall-outs with them because of their service (or lack thereof). First of all - I wasn't getting the bandwidth I was paying for and my connection was extremely unstable. Then they downgraded the connection to make the performance better, which helped some - but I didn't get a price cut?! Then after a year I found out that Cybercity changed their price for the product I had originally ordered, but they never adjusted my price accordingly. Pretty lame customer support if you ask me.

As I'm hosting my own web- and mailserver my upload speed is pretty important, but it turns out that Cybercity's products (and prices) for smaller companies are very unattractive in comparison to their consumer/home offers.

I'm sorry guys - I loved being a Cybercity customer for a lot of years but this just goes to show that you've sold out on your original company philosophy.

So I've finally decided to jump ship and find myself a new ISP with better upload speeds. Suggestions, anyone?

Djuice as a brand of Telenor targeting teens and young adults.  Djuice likes using not-everyday solutions and do spend a lot on online marketing communication as its target audience can be reached via online easily.

Their newest campaign is about promoting multimedia mobile services. Hungary in the CE region is an early adaptor of new mobile functions. The biggest barrier is financing the cost of new services as the biggest part of early adaptor target audience belong to the teen and young adults age group.

So Djuice came up with a promotion of giving back a weekly cost in every month for new subscribers. They created a microsite for the promotion that supports the message by funny modern artistic characters monsters:

 This graphical world is really close to these days' most popular animation series. But, let's see the creative that directs the microsite:

The takeover was published on Hotdog.hu, the most popular Hungarian community portal. There is a fake Hotdog opening page that looks like the real one and as the portal loaded monsters appear and conquer the whole screen. The total animation lasts for 12 seconds which is the the time limit of overlay solutions. They should automatically disappear after 12 seconds. Here I have a problem. For such a special overlay creative there should be a following ad because if the visitor is watching what's happening and suddenly ends but cannot be recalled because one visitor can see it only once per week (there is a weekly cookie) there should be a small reminder later. Otherwise they loose the users that don't switch in 12 seconds.

I like the creaive idea: Make fun with words. Even though they don't cover the whole story (we are talking about multimedia content that also includes pictures, videos, music, etc.) I think the creative execution is good. I think Hotdog as a medium was a right choice. It has its own look and feel very similar to the key visuals of the campaign.

And what about the link in between the message and the product? The microsite is as nicely done as the campaign creative. What I am missing still is the connection between the visuals and the offer. I know that there are strict guidelines how to visualize the product and price offer but I would see the monsters on the product offer page presenting maybe. Without keeping them on that page these offers are too direct and tells the visitor that make no mistake this is what is important for us (for the company): selling the phones. Some might not think about that but this nuisance may negatively affect the optimal results.

Pros:
+ good creative idea
+ nice creatives
+ creative mediaplanning

Contras:
- missing follow up of takeover creative
- missing visual link between the creative and the message on the microsite

I would be glad to see such well-done campaigns on the Hungarian market. It was inspiring.

Mal sehen, ob France Telecom mehr Glück hat als bei der deutschen Mobilcom am Anfang dieses Jahrhunderts. Eine skandinavische Mobilfunkgesellschaft dürfte allerdings als eigenständige Einheit vom Markt verschwinden und so die Führung der Nordischen in diesem Bereich eher schwächen.
