Okay, this is from a couple of weeks ago, and I really wanted to post it that day but I didn't know how. Fast forward to the 6:20 mark to see Jon Stewart totally start going off. I promise it's worth it. Oh Jon, marry me.

(By the way, my post about George Bush and 90210 somehow got me linked onto a webpage called Republicanmeetup.com. It seems to be a site that automatically links to blogs that have tags relating to the Republican party in some way. Interestingly enough, just about everything on there seems to be critical of the GOP.)

This week's Comic Book Club featured The Daily Shows' Elliot Kalan. You'll remember that not so long ago new Daily Show correspondent Wyatt Cenac guest starred at the PIT (the footage is around here somewhere...)

Elliot was every bit as awesome as Wyatt was, and had some similar comic book tales from the Daily Show writer's room. If I can ever process the raw footage there'll be some video of it up soon.

Over the past 24 hours, Fox analyst Tim McCarver's negative comments about Dodgers LF Manny Ramirez's behavior with the Boston Red Sox was the most popular topic. Also highly discussed was news that Cowboys DB Adam Jones fought with his bodyguard at a Dallas hotel. Many wondered how this incident would affect Jones' status with the league given his past troubles. The Chicago Cubs continued their run in the Top 5 after a segment on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart mocked the fans' dismay over not advancing in the MLB playoffs. N.Y. Giants WR Plaxico Burress moved into the Top 5 with discussion of his suspension and that he allegedly owes over $1,000 for damage to a rental car. Rounding out the Top 5 was the news that Charles Barkley, Reggie Miller, and Marv Albert would serve as game announcers for the outdoors pre-season game between the Pheonix Suns and Denver Nuggets on October 11th.

It's Kunta Kinte but they call me Mr. Tibbs!

So it seems that over-medicated Kassies think an awful lot like the writers at the Daily Show. For your viewing pleasure (Side Note: To watch the clip I'm talking about, wait for the inital commerical thingy, click menu, click embed, slide the start slider to around 2:25 and the end slider to around 12:17, and then click preview. Wordpress won't let me embed it that way. Or you can just watch the beginning bit, there won't be any commercials during it. Or just watch the whole damn thing):
[vodpod id=Groupvideo.1646835&w=425&h=350&fv=]

Quotes from me that effectively demonstrate my win-itude, chronologically through the clip:

"If you know how to get bin Laden, why have you not told anyone how to do it?! If I was the kind of person to overreact, I’d probably think keeping that information to oneself is not the kind of thing a patriotic ‘Merican would do."

"Where is McCain going? Did he decide to go for a stroll whilst Obama talks? I hope so. That would increase his Kassie-rating." They even used the clip to which I was referring when I made that comment.

"Seriously, stop saying 'my friends', it’s creepy." AND “'That one' is not going to stop the calls of racism, Johnny Boy. I’m not saying he is being racist, but the pundits are gonna have a field day with that tomorrow."

What on Earth is that smell? *sniff sniff* Ah, yes, that would be the smell of WIN

And on a semi-related note: I once worked out at the gym next to Jon Stewart. It was half-thrilling, half-mortifying. I mean really. There's nothing quite like struggling on an assisted pull-up machine with your sweaty, spandex laden thighs a mere 3.5 feet away from the face of someone you've have on a pedestal for years. (He was on the adjacent butterfly press, facing me.) This sort of humbling moment can be expected with the occasional gym hottie... but with Jon Stewart?!

PS. A point of clarification: I am not in fact a member of the (absurdly nice) gym that Jon Stewart goes to - a friend gave me a free pass that week.

If elected, she's one failed heartbeat away from the presidency. What's wrong with this country? I honestly feel like McCain is too smart to choose her as a running mate. I have SOME respect for him. However, I feel the Republican party is to blame for placing her in her current position and I feel McCain cries himself to sleep every night.

As I said for parts 1 and 2, I am not an expert in politics, specifically American politics

As I said for parts 1 and 2, I am not an expert in politics, specifically American politics; no degree in it, no experience in elected office, not even any relatives who are in it. But I have been paying attention for the last 4-5 years, at least more than most Americans can afford, to political events in this country; way more attention than I did in the previous 50 years of my prior life. And this summary is what I have come to believe:

John McCain- back in the Republican primary season of 2000 I liked John McCain. If I had voted that year (I sat it out with a "none of the above" protest vote) I probably would have voted for him if he had survived the primaries, where Karl Rove, working for George Bush, slandered him so badly that he lost out to Shrub. Now, I'm retroactively embarrassed to admit that. McCain has sold out his principles and ethics more than any other politician I can remember in my lifetime. I'm embarrassed for him to see this kind of disgraceful behavior. He's a whore of the worst kind; practically running around on hands and knees to kiss Pat Robertson's ass during this year's primary season, after calling Robertson an "agent of intolerance" in 2000. Now in the 2008 election he's so out of ideas and tactics that he has nothing left but to pound that Fear Drum that the Republicans love so much. He's turned into an ass clown. Sad.

Sarah "Bible Spice" Palin- you gotta be kidding me! When I first heard of her nomination by McCain and did some research of her online I thought it was an April Fool's joke. If the McCain campaign wasn't seriously running her I would think this was hilarious. A woman who got a Broadcast Journalism degree (at FOUR colleges over SIX years). For those of you who don't know, that degree is what she wanted so that she could become a Sports Caster!!!!! Her lofty goal was to work on ESPN!! For anybody who thinks she has the experience, credentials, talent, or temperament to be VP, much less President, I have only one question: What the fuck's the matter with you? Get serious.

Barack Obama- to be honest he wasn't my first choice during the Democratic primaries; John Edwards was, with Dennis Kucinich my second choice. But Barack is doing OK with me now. I don't agree with everything he says or does, but he's a damn site better than the laughable McCain/Palin choice. I think he's sincere in his desire to stand up for, and to change the political system for, the middle class. If he's elected I'll be tougher on him than any Republican would be to do what he said he'd do in office. To me that's the biggest difference between Democrats and Republicans; Democrats don't become delusional morons when their guy leaves the Right Path.

Joe Biden- to be perfectly honest, I wish the ticket were reversed to a Biden/Obama ticket. Joe has tremendous experience and judgement from his years as a Senator. I respect him very much. It would also be four years to give Obama the right experience he needs to be an even better President in 2012, after Biden retired. Oh well.

The Media- the funniest canard I've ever heard is the one of "The Liberal Media." This is an invention of the Republican Propaganda Machine to sucker ignorant and emotional people into believing it. Try this simple test in your area: run down the dial of AM radio stations you can hear and compare how many stations carry crap like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Michael "Wiener" Savage as opposed to how many carry an Air American affiliate or even somebody like Ed Schultz. It's typically about 2 or 3 to one (if you can even FIND an Air American affiliate or Ed Schultz in your area). Second test: watch virtually ANY TV news show or analysis show (like Meet the Press) and notice how many Republican or Conservative analysts they have on compared to Democratic or Progressive ones. It's typically 2 or 3 or even 4 to one. Does this seem like a Liberal bias to you?? Not to me.

Alternative sources of information- assuming that you've gotten this far into this many words, then you might be worthy to do some fairly easy online research into the facts rather than blindly believing stupid propaganda crap. If this is so then go to these sites for some additional enlightenment: FactCheck.org, MediaMatters for America, Snopes.com, BuzzFlash.com, and Truthout.org. You can also do the most basic education possible by using GOOGLE and just typing the words of anything you don't understand, or would like to know more about, in the search field and then reading the results of the search hits. Use your head for something other than growing hair.

Summary- I can't put it any better than Jon Stewart did on The Daily Show about the way Barack Obama was being labeled as "elitist": "I want the President to be an elitist. I want the President to be the smartest person in the country. Here is a job where, if you do it right, they carve your face into the side of a fucking mountain!" Well said.

How to watch Full Episodes in Canada

CTV, The Comedy Network, and The Discovery Channel all use

How to watch Full Episodes in Canada

CTV, The Comedy Network, and The Discovery Channel all use the exact same system – and it works.

Many distributors are beginning to see the boon of Online Video by offering Full Episodes on their Web sites. Unfortunately for anyone outside of the U.S., you’re most likely blocked from Hulu.com, ABC.com, NBC.com, ComedyCentral.com and a host of others.

Well, if you’re Canadian, there are a few different options that will allow you to watch some of your favorite shows online. Global, CTV, The Comedy Network, and The Discovery Channel have made many of their shows available online to the Great White North.

The Discovery Channel has a whopping 20 shows available on their full episode site, including favorites such as “Canada’s Worst Driver” and “Daily Planet.” The homepage, which is shared by CTV and The Comedy Network, offers the most recent videos, but if you want to access their archive shows, click on “Video Library.” The episodes can also be maximized to fill the screen.

CTV has 24 shows on their site, ones that you’re probably more familiar with, such as “Mad Men,” “Desperate Housewives,” and “Fringe.” CTV also overlaps with The Comedy Network as they both offer “The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report.”

At 42 shows, The Comedy Network has the most Full Episodes available online; however, there is quite a bit of program overlap with The Discovery Channel and CTV. Also, TCN offers both “The Daily Show” and “Indecision 2008” as separate shows, which may confuse users. “South Park,” “Reno 911!,” and “Corner Gas” are just a few that The Comedy Network makes available.

Global TV brings up the rear in the Canadian Online Video roundup as they only offer seven shows, and of that, only the most recent episode of “90210” and “The Guard” are available. They do have a few news programs that make up the seven, but when I checked, “Global National” hadn’t been updated for two days. Unlike the CTV/Comedy Network/Discovery system, Global TV doesn’t offer full screen video, previous episodes, or a way to link to the video on other sites.

Overall, I was impressed with the video quality and the ease of use of the CTV/Comedy Network/Discovery system. It's a very simple way of allowing Canadians to watch their favorite shows online without having to resort to downloading or crappy YouTube recordings. While it isn't perfect, this is an good step forward in offering legal alternatives for users. The Global TV system, while useful if you missed yesterday's 90210, is too limiting for most users and is frustrating after using their Canadian competitors' sites.

It’s one of those Good News, Bad News situations. As part of the annual Star Wars Fan Movie Challe

It’s one of those Good News, Bad News situations. As part of the annual Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge held last July at San Diego Comic Con, Lucasfilm and Atom Films promised that the winning entries would be shown on Spike TV. In the meantime, however, Atom Films has been bought by Comedy Central, so it should come as no surprise that the winners will instead be screened on the network that brought you The Daily Show, The Colbert Report and, um, Straight Plan for the Gay Man. So the good news is, the winning fan films are airing this week! The bad news is, if you don’t have a DVR or VCR, you probably won't see them.

They’re airing as an episode of Atom TV on Monday, October 6 at 2AM, with repeat airings Wednesday, 10/8 at 12:30PM; Thursday, 10/9 at 2AM; and·Sunday, 10/12 at 10AM.

Reportedly the show will include:
• George Lucas himself introducing the 2008 “George Lucas Selects” winner, Padme, by Robert Reeves.
• Tarkin N Friends, by Will Carlough: Best Comedy Winner, 2008.
• Chad Vader: Day Shift Manager, by Aaron Yonda and Matt Sloan: George Lucas Selects Winner, 2007.
• SW Grindhouse, by Michael Ramova: Best Parody Winner, 2008.
• Incident At Toshi Station, by Tyler Soper: Best Short Subject, 2007.
• A montage of older fan film winners, including Pink Five, Jar Jar’s Walking Papers and Silent But Deadly, among others.
• And the ever popular “more.”

Given that it’s Comedy Central, it makes sense that the dramatic flicks are apparently MIA, but what are you gonna do? If you dig Pink Five---and really, who doesn't---you can find out all about its road to glory in the chapter "Witty In Pink," found in my new fan film book, Homemade Hollywood: Fans Behind The Camera, due out in less than two weeks!
