Sorteo de Grupos

Con los 32 equipos definidos, representando 17 naciones de Europa, se pudo realizar el sorteo que mencioné anteriormente, que consiste en ubicar aleatoriamente los 32 equipos en grupos, quedando de esta manera 8 grupos, con 4 equipos cada uno. Aclaro que en éste sorteo no pueden ser ubicados equipos del mismo país. Los equipos del mismo país sólo se pueden enfrentar a partir de la fase de 4tos de final del torneo (8 mejores).  Como expliqué anteriormente estos equipos son ubicados al azar y son colocados en 4 "Pots" (bombos en español). En el primero de estos aparecen los 8 equipos que serán cabezas de serie (los primeros en ser sorteados), quedando cada uno en un grupo en particular que serán nombrados desde la letra A hasta la H. La letra de los grupos son sacadas de otros 8 bombos, todo este procedimiento se realiza al azar, excepto cuando ya se conoce el último grupo de cada bombo y cuando los equipos no pueden quedar emparejados en el mismo grupo por ser de una misma nación, como expliqué anteriormente.

Antes de realizar un breve análisis de los grupos, quisiera resaltar al gran ausente de este año: el AC Milán. Este equipo venía de coronarse campeón en las ediciones del 2003 y 2007, llegó a la final en la edición del 2005 y a semifinales en la edición del 2006. Lamentablemente, sólo pudo obtener el 5to puesto en su torneo doméstico y se clasificó directamente para la Copa de la Uefa. Con su ausencia no podremos ver la participación de sus grandes estrellas como: Kaká, Seedorf, Pirlo, Pato y Gattuso, además del recién adquirido Ronaldihno y la vuelta al equipo de uno de sus mejores jugadores en los últimos años, el ucraniano: Andriy Shevchenko. Sin embargo, vuelve a la escena de la élite futbolística europea, la Juventus de Turín (gran ausente de la dos últimas ediciones) y auguró en dicho equipo, una participación destacada.

Análisis de los Grupos

• Grupo A: Está más que claro que el Chelsea es el favorito para coronarse líder de éste grupo al final los encuentros disputados. Sin embargo, la Roma viene jugando muy bien en los últimos meses y tiene el plus de que la final de éste año, será disputada en su estadio. Considero que el Girondis es un buen equipo pero no está al nivel de los anteriores. Del Cluj no hay mucho que decir, es un debutante en dicha competición y no se espera mucho de él. Pronóstico: Chelsea y Roma pasarán a 8vos de final.

• Grupo B: El Inter puede tener la tranquilidad de que está ubicado en un grupo bastante accesible. Werder Bremen, Anothorsis y Panathinaikos no están al nivel del campeón italiano. De acuerdo a lo se ha podido apreciar en los últimos años, el Werder Bremen es el único equipo del grupo que puede dar pelea en la punta. Pronóstico: Inter y Werder Bremen pasarán a 8vos de final.

• Grupo C: El Barcelona no tiene ninguna excusa justificable para no alzarse con el primer lugar del grupo de manera fácil. Sus rivales no están al nivel del equipo español y a pesar de que no es el gran Barcelona de años anteriores, estoy seguro de que no tendrá problemas en pasar. Pronóstico: Barcelona y Sporting pasarán a 8vos de final.

• Grupo D: En cada sorteo siempre nos encontramos con un grupo que aglutina a grandes equipos. Este tipo de grupo popularmente se conoce: "Grupo de la Muerte". Este grupo ostenta ese calificativo y además es el más interesante de los ocho. Además cuenta con el aditivo de los partidos entre Liverpool y Atlético Madrid, donde Fernando Torres (Liverpool) se enfrentará a su antiguo equipo (11 años consecutivos sin participar en la UCL) , del que fue su capitán y gran estrella en los últimos años. Marseille y PSV son equipos muy buenos que pueden sorprender en algún partido. Pronóstico: Liverpool y Atlético pasarán a 8vos de final.

• Grupo E: La vuelta del Villarreal a la competición y la participación del Manchester son lo más destacad de éste grupo del que no hay mucho que comentar. Manchester y Villareal son claramente superiores y a lo mejor sólo el Celtic, pueda ser un rival interesante. Pronóstico: Machester y Villarreal pasaron a 8vos de final.

• Grupo F: El Bayern, ausente de la última edición, regresa a la competición con un gran equipo conformado principalmente por: Ribéry, Podoslki, Klose y Toni, prometiendo una participación destacada y gran fútbol. El Olympique viene realizando muy buenas actuaciones en las últimas ediciones y la Fiorentina cuenta a su favor con la inclusión de Alberto Gilardino, en su plantel. Pronóstico: El Bayern y el Olympique pasarán a 8vos de final.

• Grupo G: Arsenal y Porto son los favoritos para pasar a la siguiente ronda. Sin embargo, el Dynamo es un equipo fuerte y el Fenebarhçe a sumado algunas incorporaciones, en especial la del técnico Luis Arágones, quien ganase la Euro de este año como Seleccionador Nacional de España. Pronóstico: Arsenal y Porto pasarán a 8vos de final.

• Grupo H: Un grupo dificil que presenta cuatro equipos totalmente diferentes. El Madrid ha sido Campeón Europeo 9 veces, Juventus sólo lo ha podido conseguir en dos ocaciones. El Zenit jugará por primera vez la UCL pero viene de ganar la Copa de la Uefa. Por último el Bate es un equipo del que no se conoce mucho, aunque casi siempre resultan ser equipos que por momentos te pueden sorprender en un partido. Pronóstico: Real Madrid y Juventus pasarán a 8vos de final.

Premios de la UEFA

La UEFA realiza este sorteo cada año en el Forum Grimaldi del Principado francés de Mónaco. Al mismo tiempo se realiza también, la premiación del mejor portero, defensor, mediocampista y delantero del torneo pasado y culmina con la elección del Mejor Jugador del Torneo (esta elección no tiene nada que ver con las ligas domésticas u otras competiciones). Los entrenadores de los 32 equipos de la edición pasada del torneo, son los responsables de elegir a cada ganador. Los ganadores son invitados a participar en el sorteo, tomando al azar los equipos que se encuentran en los bombos, mientras un invitado especial realiza la misma acción con los grupos. Este año el invitado fue el ex-jugador italiano de la Roma, Bruno Conti.

Los ganadores de los premios de este año han sido los siguientes:

• Mejor Portero: Petr Cech (Chelsea)
• Mejor Defensor: John Terry (Chelsea)
• Mejor Mediocampista: Frank Lampard (Chelsea)
• Mejor Delantero y Mejor Jugador: Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United)

Como pueden apreciar, es notable la supremacía de los equipos ingleses en la premiación de este año. Recordemos que, Chelsea y Manchester United disputaron la final de la edición anterior, en mayo de este año en la ciudad de Moscú, resultando como ganador como todo sabemos éste último. En mi opinión creo que la elección fue justa, en especial la de Ronaldo como mejor jugador, aunque considero que en los últimos meses está algo arrogante, estoy seguro que sin él el Manchester no hubiera podido lograr el título. De hecho, el Manchester tendrá muy dificil el partido de hoy contra el Zenit por la Supercopa de Europa, donde se enfrentán los campeones de la UEFA Champions League y la Copa de la UEFA, respectivamente. El equipo inglés da la impresión de ser superior, sin embargo, en los dos primeros partidos disputados en su liga doméstica no se le ha visto nada bien.

Otras Actividades

El fútbol no fue el único protagonista de la noche. Michel Platini, presidente de la UEFA, entregó a Zinedine Zidane, uno de los mejores jugadores que ha tenido el fútbol moderno y del que también soy gran admirador, un cheque por la suma de 1,000,000 de francos suizos para Asociación Europea de Leucodistrofia (ELA), presidida por Guy Alba, y de la que el mismo Zidane es embajador. Durante el evento, presentaron un video que me conmovió mucho y es bueno ver que el fútbol expande sus horizontes a los seres más necesitados de nuestro planeta.

Por último sólo queda disfrutar de esta gran competición que iniciará a mediados de septiembre. Espero que sea una gran edición como la del año pasado, que sin lugar a todos nos mantuvo a todos al tanto de lo que sucedía e hizo vibrar nuestros corazones con la gran final. ¡Viva el Fútbol!

Foi uma pena ver o Brasil perder de forma tão suada para os EUA. De qualquer forma parabéns à seleção que não ganharam o ouro mas ganharam a prata.

Pour remporter les Jeux Olympiques et permettre au jeune Alafolix d'épouser la Princesse Irina, Astérix et Obélix devront affronter le machiavélique Brutus, fils de César, au cours d'une Olympiade.

Par tout atis, qu'ece qui ma pris de vouloir mater Astérix aux jeux Olympiques! Je n'est jamais été attiré par la séries mais je suis tout de même tomber de haut, le scénario et baclé (je pense que le casting ultra gonflé y est pour quelque chose) et les gags volent tous très très bas. Le seul acteur qui a reussi à m'arracher un sourir a été Alain Delon qui a jouer à merveille son autoparodie, Alice "Vanessa Hessler" n'est pour une fois pas aussi transparente que dans ses pubs, Clovis Cornillac ne nous fait pas regretté Jaqcouille "Christian Clavier" tandi que Benoît Poelvoord (dans son one man show) essaye de sortir tant bien que mal le film du trou gigantesque dans lequelle il est partie s'enterrer.

Le casting est plus que gonflé, Clovis Cornillac, Gérard Depardieu, Alain Delon, Benoît Poelvoorde, Vanessa Hessler, Jérome Lebanner, José Garcia, Franck Dubosc et j'en passe sont au rendez vous. Je pense que Panoramix devrait préparer impeu de sa potion magique pour Thomas Langmann et Frédéric Forestier "réalisateurs" si ils compte nous sortir un autre Asterix.

Les effets spéciaux (vu et revu) et les décors imposant ne compense pas le manque de rhytme du film, à quand l'adaptation américaine d'Asterix :P .

En bref, après être partie au ciné maté The Dark Knigth ca à été plutôt dur de rester réveiller pendant le film (heureusement que j'apprécie pas mal d'acteurs qui sont dans Astérix sinon le Divx ne serait plus de ce monde à l'heure qu'il est :) ).

Fotbalul nu este nici el strain de acest subiect. Care ar fi fost impactul, daca numele lui Zinedine Zidane ar fi aparut pe lista doctorului Fuentes? Ce s-a intamplat cu Juventus nu este decat un foc de paie care sa ne arate noua ca cineva se lupta cu aceasta problema. In fond se lupta ei cu ei si castiga, tot ei. Cat de curat este Rafael Nadal? Nimeni nu stie. Dar daca s-ar afla ca un idol este patat s-ar inregistra pierderi financiare enorme. De ce sa dai intr-un monument pe care tot tu l-ai creat. L-ai creat pentru bani si il folosesti pentru bani. Cand gluma se ingroasa, respectivul isi anunta retragerea. Il tineti minte pe Ian Thorpe? Cel poreclit si Omul Racheta pentru rapiditatea cu care inota? Cu siguranta il tineti minte, pentru ca nu il puteti uita. V-a ramas intiparit in memorie pentru ca era imbatabil. El s-a retras, sau a fost retras, pentru ca Michael Phelps sa poata astazi sa rescrie istoria.

Fiecare dintre acestia raman campioni pana cand se fabrica altii. Oamenii se nasc, robotii se fabrica.  Iar chinezii si americanii stiu cel mai bine chestia asta.

Eu chiar cred in acesti campioni. Sincer o spun. Cred ca un om poate fi inzestrat de natura cu anumite capacitati fizice iesite din comun, care sa il ajute in practicarea unui anumit sport. Dar sa imi explice si mie cineva cum poti pierde atata avans pe o ultima lungime de bazin, asa cum a patit Camelia Potec in finala de la 800m liber? Ca fost practicant de inot nu pot sa imi explic. Parca este totusi prea mult.

PS. Americanii au inventat pastila care te ajuta sa faci sport chiar si atunci cand stai pe loc. Eficienta ei a fost testata pe soareci. Deocamdata.

Michael Phelps a castigat astazi a opta medalie de aur din opt posibile, reusind astfel sa doboare recordul lui Mark Spitz care in cadrul JO Munchen 1972 reusise sa isi treaca in palmares “doar” sapte medalii de aur.

Na história, o gaulês Apaixonadix (Stéphane Rousseau) se apaixona pela princesa grega Irina (Vanessa Hessler), cuja mão já estava prometida para Brutus (Benoît Poelvoorde), por razões políticas. Dispostos a ajudar o amigo --e, é claro, a derrotar os romanos--, Asterix (Clovis Cornillac), Obelix (Gérard Depardieu), o druida Panoramix (Jean-Pierre Cassel) e o cãozinho Ideiafix também partem para a Grécia. Lá, terão que descobrir uma maneira de vencer a competição.

Dirigido por Frédéric Forester e Thomas Langman, a aventura é uma adaptação da série de histórias em quadrinhos homônima de René Goscinny e Albert Uderzo, criadores dos personagens.

O consagrado ator francês Alain Delon faz participação especial no papel do imperador Júlio César. Astros do esporte, como o ex-piloto de F-1 Michael Schumacher, o jogador de futebol Zinédine Zidane, a tenista Amelie Mauresmo e o jogador de basquete Tony Parker também aparecem no filme.

So in the afterglow of seeing “Tell No One” it is only fitting that I thought of Petit as I contemplated this wholly satisfying work from the 35-year-old romantic heartthrob of French cinema, Guillaume Canet, who has stepped behind the camera to superbly craft a taut, swift and enthralling mystery thriller.

Based on a novel by American author Harlan Coben, it is a familiar tale: a wanted man seeks to prove his innocence against suspicion of a most heinous crime.  But Canet transcends this common device by delivering a thoroughly entertaining film surging with a griping plot, engaging characters and urgent suspense.  Opening quietly enough with a tranquil midnight swim, the film spirals suddenly into a frenetic quest for redemption. Refreshingly adult and smart, “Tell No One” possesses a vibe reminiscent of another redemptive tale, “Three Days of the Condor.”

Confidently photographed by Christophe Offenstein and expertly edited by Herve de Luze, it is 125-minutes long but skittles along like a pebble across a pond.  There are times during a film this engrossing I don’t try to think ahead or guess as to whodunit.  When they’re good, as good as “Tell No One,“ I don’t think of them as puzzle to be solved but instead as a clever story to savor.  

The film crackles with a superbly realistic and earthy chase scene. The chase is infused with elements of Parkour during a frenetic dash through Paris markets, shops and homes, though because our protagonist is a busy doctor venturing on middle age, it’s undignified, disjointed and panicked.

Francois Cluzet, a hunkier Dustin Hoffman, offers an impeccable axis performance as the doctor on the run. He discovers painful truths and personal transgressions which challenge the simplest notions he held of the people closest to him.  He displays a compelling breadth of ever-changing emotions, with moments of disbelief, terror, anger and even compassion all jumbled together during his steadfast quest for justice.

The diverse supporting cast is provided with roles both well written and substantial.  Even the eccentricities of a sympathetic detective are rounded off and muted.  A richly tanned and fluent Kristin Scott Thomas is a welcome presence.

Funnily enough, the final scene of the film feels a tad tacked on.  It’s like scoring a wonder goal, and celebrating by running to the corner flag, dropping to all fours and lifting a leg in a symbolic “taking the piss.”  But this is just a quibble because it surely doesn’t spoil the beauty of the goal.

So just as a supporter would have exited Highbury in the heady days of New Labour after seeing another assured Petit display musing, “If only every footballer…“, as the final credits of “Tell No One” roll, one will ponder “If only every crime movie…”

Y, mientras tanto, el Ministro del Interior se empecina en expulsar a 25 000 extranjeros en situación irregular cada año, creando situaciones dramáticas como la devolución expulsión de niños, de personas enfermas o incluso de gente mayor.

Pero la paradoja no es tan grande. Un sondeo realizado por el Journal du Dimanche muestra que el origen, el color de la piel y el nombre patronímico sí representan marcadores de discriminación en el empleo o la vida diaria, pero no son forzosamente un obstáculo para la notoriedad o la fama que, cuando se alcanza, vuelve estos rasgos invisibles. Yannick, Dany y Zidane son la ‘cara buena' de la inmigración, la imagen del ‘hijito bueno' que logra el éxito. Visto de otra forma, el sondeo también puede mostrar que existe una clara diferencia entre los "bueno inmigrantes" regulares y destinados a integrarse a la sociedad y los "malos": aquellos que entran al país irregularmente y que forzosamente tendrán que partir.

Hay que analizar. Este tipo de encuesta, como muchas otras, tiene un alcance débil. Después todo, los sondeos no comprometen a nada y uno muchas veces responde sin poner mucha atención. Sin embargo, ¿qué tan bien se estima la opinión generalizada de la extrema derecha en un tema como el de la inmigración? El sondeo también podría significar que la opinión pública no equivale a la acción pública y que, en realidad, la sociedad francesa ya integró en gran medida la diversidad de sus componentes. De cualquier forma, la opinión pública parece ser siempre más liberal que la mentalidad del gobierno, lo que explicaría también el sostén del que gozan las redes que se movilizan para impedir las expulsiones particularmente de niños, como la de Educación sin fronteras.

It's Zinedine Zidane, a footballer/soccer player or whatever the hell it is that they call it. A friend sent me this link and i was in love for sure at first sight. Am sorry but I really know zilch about football/soccer, kill me now as I have missed half my life for having seen him just this afternoon. Ehehehe. This is actually the third time that I have fancied someone famous. There was of course Richard Gere, need I say more about him? That guy never age. Then there was Shawn "the heartbreak kid" Michaels, laugh your asses off but I was just a kid then and have clearly passed that "shawn-stage" already. Believe me! Please Please Please! Then there was a short-lived fascination towards Will Smith, not as serious as that of Richard Gere and Shawn Michaels though and here comes Zidane..... Hahayyyyyyyy..... Can I just kiss him and die now???? Wehehehe. What is up with Zidane???

1. The guy apparently stands 6  ft and an inch! 5 ft and 10in is actually my ideal height for a guy, the reason being is am standing 5ft 7in tall so with a guy who's got the ideal height, i can wear my 3-inched-shoes/sandals. So, if the guy is a 6footer - whoa!!!!! It's like extra nuts in my jamoca almond fudge. An added bonus to an already perfect package. A mojito while you bask under the sun of a caribean beach.

2. He's got style. The clothes that he's wearing on the video is more than perfect. I have no idea what it is with men and suits but I am attracted to men in suits. Haha! I don't like the extra craps like the bow tie or necktie. A plain shirt inside the suit plus a casual pants (a jeans would have been better) is like........ i don't know, am just attracted to men in suits. Hehehehehe. Specially if the guy wearing it is tall, it kinda brings the "authoritative" look which is oh so sexy!

3. He's  got confidence. The way he walks, the way he moves - everything about him screams C-O-N-F-I-D-E-N-C-E.

4. He's got a cute smirk (or was it a smile?). Smirk is more mysterious, so I say it's a smirk. Just because.... :D

5. According to my research, he had a confrontation with an Italian player - Marco Materazzi which stirred a big havoc in the history of that sport. Apparently Materazzi insulted Zidane's sister which led to the latter's temper being heated up and headbutted Materazzi. Am not exactly sure if it was true but I want to believe him because am biased and i love him. (is Materazzi as cute as Zidane? might change my mind though.... haha!). Anyway, he's a knight in shining armor complete with his glorious white horse.

He comes in. Small man. Strong gait. Confident in his abilities, poised to his responsibilities, and comfortable in his achievements. Like we have seen him for almost all our lives.

It is indeed amazing that for almost all my life as a cricket follower, Sachin has been performing for the country, and it has taken me this long to warm up to him.

As I have mentioned so many times earlier, for a serious sports-lover, it is almost impossible to have a devoted Sachin-following mindset, he seems almost unreal.

Okay, sorry, I was speaking for myself here, I guess.

Tiger, Federer and Sachin. And of course Jordan, Pete and Steffi a generation back. Zizou. These are the immortals. They never fail. They never falter. They are not human.

They had honed the almost unbelievable talent that has been bestowed upon them, with their own bit of hard graft. The monument of their performance has as much to do with blood and sweat, as with the gifts they had been born with.

They are perfect in their conduct in the field, they are perfect in their interaction to the media, and they are far away from controversy (or nearly so). They are noticed for their performances, and never for their extra-curricular activities, so as to say.

They are easy to respect, and difficult to love. Almost impossible to love, unless you are just a glory hound.

The cocky braggadocio of Pietersen and Kobe and the Williams sisters, even Djokovic in recent times; the sturdy determination of Border, Tomas Muster, Dravid and Lendl; the relative under-achievement of Barkley, Becker, Els and Ballack (and Azhar); the devil-may-care rabble rousing of Jimmy Connors and Ganguly; the genuine niceness and friendliness (as opposed to professional distance) of Shaq and Cesc and Adam Gilchrist; the precocious talent and almost performing-without-trying of Lara and McEnroe and Wasim; the passion of Nadal and Warne and Diego... these give in much more easily to fan-following...

It took a retirement from Graf for me to be a fan, it took a headbutt from Zidane for me to be his fan. Jordan never failed, and I could never be his fan. It took a sudden streak of vulnerability from Pete for me to be his fan.... and so has it been with Sachin.

Sachin, in the last two-three years, has been a pleasure to watch. His powers on the wane, his performance hasn't. Hard graft, patience and sudden glimpses of flair have been the hallmarks of the recent Sachin. And tell me, the missed hundreds of the last year, haven't they been exhilarating? And then the throwing up of the bat, reaching a hundred after long last, didn't you jump off the seat at that moment, sharing the joy with him?

Now I'm sure there are people out there that are thinking, Chelsea has a billionaire Russian owner, just give him the money. This is a road with many bumps further down the line. If you give in to players needs, not only will other players see it, but so will other clubs. This is how you end up with ridiculous debts later on. You're going to have to give guys like Cech, Carvalho, and Essien the same amount. Then you try to buy players from other clubs. You're going to be forced to pay such an inflated price that is nowhere near market value just because clubs will think you'll do anything for the player. Is any player worth more than how much Real Madrid paid for Zidane? No. Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, and Messi; as great as they are, they aren't worth more than Kaka and will never control a team the way he did. Then you have to sign the player, you're going to be forced to give them their terms.

You're players end up becoming mercenaries. You will have people not playing for the club because of their love for the club and success, but for their cheque. We've seen it happen for Sheva and there have been claims of that for Deco as well. Chelsea are now an attractive destination. We've got a manager who has a World Cup under his title, we recently made it to the Champions League Final, and we've either won or been runner-up for the Premier League title for four straight seasons. If there is a club that is up and coming where you can enjoy success, Chelsea is the spot. Even Kaka has said that he thinks " Chelsea are the club to be at right now". Although he is not joining Chelsea, that's great news for us and our development as a big club.

We've continuously bought stupidly and this must end. Tal Ben Haim was a pointless buy because he was no better than a young defender and he wasn't going to get much time anyways. Why not give some youth a chance? We bought Malouda to add flair on our left wing but it is as if no one ever watched him play before he was purchased. Malouda quickly moves right into the centre from the left. It could be argued that Deco was a stupid buy as well but I feel that he is probably Chelsea's only and best passer. Shevchenko never made sense for us to buy from day one. Pizarro was a free transfer but even as a third choice striker (at the time there was no Anelka), he's old and was often played as a midfielder. People may say that Nicolas Anelka was a dumb buy as well. I would say that our hands were tied because of the need to have a quality striker during the race for the Premier League title and Champions League fixtures. I just don't feel we should have bought someone with a bad history like his.

Here's a couple of positions we obviously need replacements. Drogba may not leave this season but he will eventually, someone of young class will be neeeded. Shevchenko, Anelka, and Pizarro need to all be shown the door. Lucas Podolski should be bought for our second striker as he is obviously out of place with Toni and Klose at Bayern Munich. He also showed he was a very effective winger down the left side. For our number 3 striker, Dani Guiza because he was La Liga's leading scorer and he was great for Spain in Euro 2008. He could eventually over take Podolski. Di Santo should be our 4th striker. For our winger, Podolski would be able to play the left. Robinho would be a sound winger with great finishing. Robinho would probably cost a lot but would be worth it. How scary is Podolski + Cole, Robinho + Cole, or Podolski + Robinho?

Overall, I just believe Chelsea should be much more careful. The line-up only needs tweaking not a major overhaul. Only our striker position needs an overhaul.
